"Bad. It is not easy to get used to. But it is a natural energizer. It contains many vitamins and minerals that are good for a body, but it also gives a bit of a boost... For when you're not at top-shape." He flipped the head of his mushroom over in his hooves a few times, then ate his. "If you know what you're looking for, the forest will provide. If you do not, bad things can happen."

[Nightfall 3,950]

"Well, yeah..."

He looked down at his mushroom a little strangly, but he took another few bites, and the fungus's taste grew on him slowly. It still wasn't the best when he was done, but he thought that it was better, much better tasting than when he had started.

She.... She likes me to? Arrow was thinking this over for a moment as they went into the shack. When Frozen lied down and turned away saying 'Good-night Arrow' (I thought it was morning?) "Umm... Good night." He lied down on the other but didn't go to sleep; his mind was racing with thoughts on where they where. He waited until she fell asleep so he could keep watch.

 

It was morning, the sun went up and Frozen woke, she grabbed her saddles bag and nudged Arrow. "Hey it's morning!" Frozen tried to put yesterday behind her and forget what happened. Frozen smelt something, it smelt like iron or something, she put her head out of the window and saw a trial of blood."Umm Arrow look...."

Scout eyed the unicorn, analyzing him. "How..." he seemed to be thinking of a new way to put it. "When I was in school," he began with obvious malcontent, "Ponies used to make fun of me. I wouldn't try to get into fights, but I was too weird for friendship. So, I don't really know a lot about ponies, socially... How do you feel about spiders?"

"What does school have to do with spiders? I mean... I'm confused..."

"Well, I just try not to bother with them, and they don't really bother me. Sometimes I do have to tear down a web or two to keep my shop clean, but other than that, we have a mutual... we both agree that 'I don't bother you, you don't bother me,' the spiders and I."

Den held out a hoof in front of him. Del climbed onto it and stared at Scout. "A fair statement. This is Del, an Everfree Dartmouth. He's friendly, but statistically speaking, if he bites you you'd better pray for Celestia. Anything less than the cure or herself, and you'll find yourself dead in a minute or less. The ponies at school used to try to squash him. I used to get into a lot of fights over it. Del never bit anypony." Scout half-smiled, "Oh the irony."

Featherstone laughed, a hint of nervousness creeping in.

"So what you're saying is stay on your good side, and his?"

He looked at the spider. It was small, but deadly, like a good number of other things here in the Everfree.

"Del, it is a pleasure to meet you."

"You are out of your mind, talking to a spider..."

"I don't believe it's possible for Del to get angry. His mother was a good spider, and she knew the difference between right and wrong," Scout sighed, "It was not a threat, it was an excuse. I'm not good with ponies. Spiders, yes. Ponies, no." Del eyed Featherstone with interest, but did nothing to leave Scout.

"So that's why you told me about school? To give an example? Or, some kind of excuse to explain certain things? Like, you know, put them in context?"

He looked back at Scout. Featherstone had no intentions to intrude into any kind of personal life that Scout had; he was merely curious, as he always was.

"It's a, uhh, excuse for being so awkward, and for tackling your leader. I don't have a lot in common with most ponies, and I don't have many pleasant experiences with those who do talk to me. It's always nice to find a pony willing to talk to me. Especially when they're talking with me instead of at me," he sighs, relaxing. "A tree has two sides. The side that the moss covers, and the side that tells you whether or not it's safe to climb," he mumbled softly.

It was morning, the sun went up and Frozen woke, she grabbed her saddles bag and nudged Arrow. "Hey it's morning!" Frozen tried to put yesterday behind her and forget what happened. Frozen analyzed the blood, she turned to Arrow. "We need to find the culprit!" Frozen followed the blood trial, it leaded up to a pony covered in blood. "Who is this, I never seen this pony in Ponyville before..." Frozen put her sword in her mouth and kept walking forward, Frozen turned and smiled at Arrow. "I think we have a mystery on our hands!"

He asked stretching and lazily making his way to the door with a yawn and then...."Wait. What time is it?" He turned and asked Frozen.

"zzzzzmmmm whaaaat?" He whined demurely as he rolled over to see frozen mint. 'Ummm Arrow look.' He was smelling the same thing. He got up and went to the window. "Wanna follow it?" He asked stretching and lazily making his way to the door with a yawn and then...."Wait. What time is it?" He turned and asked Frozen.

Frozen looked at Arrow, she smiled and then looked at her watch. "Well it's 6:30... but did you here the rattling last night?" Frozen smelt more blood than before. "We should follow trial, I guess we have mystery on our hands." Frozen winked at Arrow and then went out the shack door. "Are you coming, Arrow?"

Frozen looked at Arrow, she smiled and then looked at her watch. "Well it's 6:30... but did you here the rattling last night?" Frozen smelt more blood than before. "We should follow trial, I guess we have mystery on our hands." Frozen winked at Arrow and then went out the shack door. "Are you coming, Arrow?"

6:30? "Can't it wait? It's too early." Arrow complained. When Frozen winked at him Arrow blushed and saw she wanted to see what caused the blood. "Fine, well go." He said and allowed Mint to lead the 'Army of Two' (Yes it was a reference to a game. I had to) He walked up to the blood and conjured an arrow, stuck the tip of it in the small trail and floated it up to his eye level. "It's fresh." He added.

6:30? "Can't it wait? It's too early." Arrow complained. When Frozen winked at him Arrow blushed and saw she wanted to see what caused the blood. "Fine, well go." He said and allowed Mint to lead the 'Army of Two' (Yes it was a reference to a game. I had to) He walked up to the blood and conjured an arrow, stuck the tip of it in the small trail and floated it up to his eye level. "It's fresh." He added.

 

Frozen sniffed and nodded. "Yes it is fresh." Frozen put her hoof in the blood and put it on her face like tribal face-paint, then she put it on Arrows face. "Who's got there own tribe now!" Frozen laughed. She followed the blood trail a bit more until it lead to a pony corpse.. "Arrow quick come have a look at this!"

Frozen sniffed and nodded. "Yes it is fresh." Frozen put her hoof in the blood and put it on her face like tribal face-paint, then she put it on Arrows face. "Who's got there own tribe now!" Frozen laughed. She followed the blood trail a bit more until it lead to a pony corpse.. "Arrow quick come have a look at this!"

Arrow wipes off the paint; blood. "There's a reason why I put my arrow in it." He said a bit annoyed. Arrow then hears her yelled his name and then something about come quick. He runs over and sees the same corpse. "I feel bad for that fella." He said mind not fully awake. "Well, mission accomplished! let's go back to sleep." He said already turning to go back to the shack.

"Wait!!" We need to find the culprit, together..." Frozen ran after Arrow and put her hoof on his shoulder.

"C'mon we need to find the person, there could be a murderer in this forest and we need to put a stop to the mare or stallion..." Frozen looked at Arrow deeply and then went past the corpse. She again looked at Arrow and said "C'mon..."

"Wait!!" We need to find the culprit, together..." Frozen ran after Arrow and put her hoof on his shoulder.

"Muuuuugh!" He whined. "Fiiine!" He followed dispelling his bow and arrows to conserve energy. "If this is just and animal that killed a pony; Imma be mad." He said head hanging low and eyes already closing. "Animals-animals-animals... I would laugh if it was a bunny that had a tribal spear with war paint on and killed that pony."

"Ha ha!" Frozen laughed and then looked back at Arrow "Yes that would be funny!" Frozen approached a darker part of the woods. "We must be getting closer!" Frozen got a torch out of her saddle bag and put it in her mouth so it was easier to see. "This is an awful lot like slender..." Frozen walked around until it was pretty much impossible to see, then the worst of Frozen's worries the battery died to her torch... "Arrow are you there?"

"Ha ha!" Frozen laughed and then looked back at Arrow "Yes that would be funny!" Frozen approached a darker part of the woods. "We must be getting closer!" Frozen got a torch out of her saddle bag and put it in her mouth so it was easier to see. "This is an awful lot like slender..." Frozen walked around until it was pretty much impossible to see, then the worst of Frozen's worries the battery died to her torch... "Arrow are you there?"

Arrow finds this opportunity to scare frozen. he does a low blood-curdling growl right behind her and then does a demonic voice. "Fiiiind the eiiiight paaagesssss." He hisses. He was trying his best to scare her and not give away his position by running around Mint actin as if there are multiple hoof steps. "Weee seeee youuuuuu." Arrow hisses again.

Frozen was sure that Arrow pulled an evil grin when he lead us back into darkness. This light was dim and Frozen was narrowing her eyes to see, Frozen shook her head, she was sure she saw a shadow running past.

"Okay.. I guess you can lead..." Frozen follwed Arrow into the darkness. "You better not be leading me into death..." 

 

Frozen was sure that Arrow pulled an evil grin when he lead us back into darkness. This light was dim and Frozen was narrowing her eyes to see, Frozen shook her head, she was sure she saw a shadow running past.

"Frozen? did you see that?" he asked seeing the same shade of darkness flying by quickly. He conjures his bow and arrow which made the light fade more. "Ugh, just what I needed!" he said as he put the arrow on the string and draws it back. "Stay close and watch behind us."

Frozen gets out her sword and put it in her mouth. "I am not giving up with-out a fight!!" Frozen's eyes turn eager and she goes back to back with Arrow. "Now they can not get us, from any angle." The shadow surrounded the two ponies, but they were both ready, for anything...
