Will things go back to normal?

I feel that things are kinda going crazy around here. With the whole alicorn thing and the new show coming out, I heard that quite a few people are apparently leaving. Do you think this is true, and that things will calm down when season 4 comes around?

There's nothing to critical right now. People overreact to everything. Once season 4 comes, people will hopefully calm the hell down. But don't worry, everything, for the most part, is fine. I think the mane reason people are leaving is because they're still but hurt over Twilicorn and Equestria Girls. But I can assure, more people are joining the fandom as well.

Not new to the show just new to saying hello to the fandom!  Closet brony I guess?  I have a habit of being involved with things when it is too late so I hope it isn't!

And I LIKE the something that happened!

It will at some point. It's really no worse then the Derpy drama. The people that hate it will eventually learn to deal with it(or just tire themselves out and stop caring)

And I thought Equestria Girls wasn't going to happen?

I'm not sure if there was an official announcement one way or the other, but I remember seeing that Hasbro released a list of new/returning shows to the Hub and EQG was not included.

As for craziness around here, I think the only reason that it seems like we're all being consumed by hellfire is that angry people tend to be loud.  I believe that there is a surprising number of us who either don't care one way or the other (such as myself) or actually enjoy the changes, yet also do not wish to argue with those who vehemently disagree with the changes.  In any case, I imagine that peace will be achieved at some point before the airing of season 4.

Eh actually the height of the storm is pretty much over for now. The whole things calmed down pretty well I think, its still floating around, but things have got somewhat close to back to normal for now I think.

It'll all settle down fine though, all fandoms have hard times to go through especially when things change, ours is no exception. The good news is we're a great community of people who I know will stick together through the mess.

This is what I saw happen.

And quite frankly It was a bit annoying. Okay I get it your mad or something, if you want to leave fine no one is stopping you, just stop complaining.

I think people overreacted, but then again I'm not surprised. People always overreact to things.

Things have started to die down a bit, so we may be in recovery stage.

I don't know

I think things will return to normal soon.

Frankly, I don't even really see that many angry people anymore, at least around here. Most of the people who were inciting the s**tstorm whether they realized it or not (and I include myself in that group) seem to have calmed down. I think we've all either come to terms with the fact that change is coming, or at the very least have gotten tired of saying the same thing over and over again.

First of all, I don't think people grasp just how overly-dramatic this fanbase gets over everything. Videos like

and
are 100% accurate, with only minimal amounts of exaggeration img-1308204-1-wink.png When things happen, everything explodes, and rumors, speculation and above all, apocalyptic predictions begin flying. Only weeks to a month or a few later does the majority of the fanbase crawl out of their Cold War bunkers and realize they were, once again, overreacting.

Secondly, as many people have already said, at this point, most of the drama is in fact over. You don't see people whining about Mane 6 and Fighting is Magic much these days, nor people talking about how 'tyrannical' Hasbro is for reasons X, Y and Z. Those two things were the storm of the week only over a month ago or so, but people have moved on. Twilicorn and Equestria Girls are the only two major things currently going on. Twilicorn is unique in the fact that it's going to be on people's minds until S4 premiers, and we finally get to see where the hell the show plans to go now that Twi is an alicorn. And as for Equestria Girls, once we get more solid info on that, and we see how that goes, people will stop speculating over it, and you'll have the fans of it, the haters of it, and the people who just don't give two shits img-1308204-2-biggrin.png

Drama is a never-ending cycle, but it always has its' highs and lows. Right now, we're calming down a fair bit. Fighting is Magic and generic Hasbro hate has subsided, and Equestria Girls and Twilicorn scares have begun to seriously cool down now that we've had it around for a fair bit, and people are used to it. The problem with people getting used to the drama, is topics like this happen. People speculate over the drama, and cause new drama over the old drama.

Do you think this is true, and that things will calm down when season 4 comes around?

I think people will came back to watch the season premiere and no matter how well or bad the crew handles it, a lot of people will be disappointed and will be questioning whether it's worth staying in the fandom. Some will be very local about it and some will leave the fandom for good but it will eventually it'll calm down and the fandom will live on.

It's unlikely that the show will be so terrible that majority will reject everything after Season 3. It most likely will be objectively good but some people won't be able to accept the loss of the things which made they like the show in the first place no matter what, and no one should tell them that they are wrong for disliking the change. I understand that people are sad seeing other people losing interest in the show and leaving the fandom but they should let it go.

You should be paying more attention to the bronies who just joined the fandom because it's important how they see the situation. I joined the fandom after the derpygate was over and I already knew how it went. I wasn't subjected to seeing Derpy being taking away and I knew what she lived on in the fanon so it made it easier for me to accept it even though I still find it sad. It will be more difficult with Twilicorn because she is a major character, and unlike the Derpy case, Twilicorn will eventually replace Twilight Sparkle in fanon.

People are vocal with their disagreement because they wish the show would do better and they aren't haters. Haters don't care about the quality of the show. People see lack of constructive criticism as justifying bad ideas and execution. I think constructive criticism is a good thing but it's wasted if the show crew isn't seeing it.

I don't like the change and I'll most likely will leave the fandom after having a closure in winter and I won't be voicing my opinion because I know many people will like the new direction and I don't want to spoil their enjoyment of the show. New bronies won't be having such a difficult time accepting the change because they are accepting it when joining the fandom. Look at Lauren Faust. She is still saying that the show *IS* good despite being deeply disappointed with the direction since she left the show.

When I leave, I won't be missed because I joined the forums only this week after lurking forums for 6 months and I'm unlikely to make friends. I prefer it that way. The brony fandom is the first first fandom I was so deeply involved and it's the first time I appreciate art which will make it very difficult to leave it behind. Anyway I'll try to come up with some ideas on how to behave for these who are staying and for these for are leaving, so that the transition could go as smooth as possible.

The fandom's definitely going through a rough patch right now, but we'll survive. Folks will stop fighting over stupid shit soon enough. On top of that, Double Rainboom's only 4 days away, Season 4's coming this winter, and the Fallout: Equestria Radio Play looks like it's going to kick some serious ass as well, whenever the hell that ends up coming out.

Sunny days are ahead. We just gotta tough out a brief dry spell.

As for the current situation.

I think it's rather calm right now. Twilicorn issue won't be resolved for a long time and people will be bringing it up all the time but it can't be helped. It shouldn't bother us too much until we see Season 4 though.
