Not without finding your own personal reason for them being so, that is.

Why can't they have that stuff during school then?

It introduces the stuff to you and you practice it more at home to make sure you have an understanding of it.

You can only do so much in school within those 8 hours a day. 

 

There's nothing wrong with homework in and of itself. The real problem is how much they want to give you.
