Hello!

I want to hear your opinions about traveling –

  1. How much have you traveled before? How? (In group, with friends, alone, by car, by plane, on foot)
  2. Are there places which you wanted to visit in the future?
  3.  And what you main reason to travel?
  4. Everything you want to tell.

Also I would be in U.S. New York in two days, and wanted to ask some questions (and it’s not for New-Yorkers only).

  1. Can you recommend me places that should be visited (Tell me everything – sighs, cafes, museums, shops…  Just everything, do not think that it would be banal or not interesting to me ).
  2. Can you also recommend me food I should definitely try? (One of my favorite things in traveling is trying different food, so it’s the same as with previous point – everything – cafes, snacks, drinks – one more time – even if you think it’s banal, you can even just wright you favorite food and I’ll try to find it)
  3. It’s most likely that I would travel alone and for 2 weeks, so if you know – there in NY best place to meet with new people (strange sounding question, but I hope you will understand what I meant by it).

P.S. Yes I’m a little nervous to go to different country, at almost opposite part of the Earth globe alone, without knowing anyone.

New York is a great place for pizza. look for the first grimaldis location in new York. If you want pizza there is famous original rays pizza and ray baris pizza in new York. Also the subway is the best way to get around new York Manhattan is the place to be almost all the neighborhoods are tourist friendly except for Harlem. be sure to visit times square and enjoy central park and the empire state building. that is the basic guide from my new Yorker relatives. If you ever come down to texas be sure to go to Austin for a night or two on sixth street see an Antonio's river walk and Alamo. dallas is a good place to relax and see dealy plaza and Houston is known for its space center.

Well we travel like once a year or so to see family atleast, and actually ironically I'm leaving tommorow on a band trip to go to washington DC. so yeah xD.

We're also planning a vacation to travel to some cool places this summer, and last vacation we had we went to disney.

I think those are the main places we travel to. Our traveling actually normally stays the same, but we've been doing some new places lately.

I have not traveled yet, but I aspire to go to Japan or China someday. I love their history and culture, I've always found it facinating. I guess my main reason to travel would be to learn as much as i could, and embrace new cultures, and walks of life.

1. How much have you traveled before? How? (In group, with friends, alone, by car, by plane, on foot)

I've traveled quite a bit compared to most people. I've been all around the US, to New York, Michigan (several times), Tennessee (3 times), Minnesota, Alaska, Wisconsin, Colorado, California, Hawaii (going again soon), South Dakota, Ohio, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington (a lot), and Oregon of course because I live there. As for International travel...I've been to Canada twice (to BC, Vancouver and Victoria), Sweden twice, Israel (best experience of my life), and this summer I'm going to Tokyo. :3 I've traveled all sorts of ways too..alone, road trips, by plane, train, everything!

2. Are there places which you wanted to visit in the future?

I really want to travel all over the world and visit as many countries as possible. The top places are Australia, Rio, Germany, Ireland/Scotland, France, Greece, and India. My list is huge but those are the ones I want to go to the most.

3.  And what you main reason to travel?

I honestly don't need a reason to travel at all. The thought of going anywhere is exciting to me, no matter the reason. Usually it's for vacations but some of it's been to visit family too (like Michigan, Tennessee, and Sweden).

Also I would be in U.S. New York in two days, and wanted to ask some questions (and it’s not for New-Yorkers only).

  1. Can you recommend me places that should be visited (Tell me everything – sights, cafes, museums, shops…  Just everything, do not think that it would be banal or not interesting to me ).

The Empire State Building is a good tourist place, but it means standing in a line for almost two hours. I didn't get to go to the Statue of Liberty when I was there but I really wanted to. I drove through Times Square and it looked so amazing, I probably could have spent all day there but I didn't have enough time. Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Plaza, and The New York Library with its iconic lions are also good tourist spots. I went to St. Patrick's Cathedral while I was there and it was beautiful. It's a good place to see if you happen to be near it, plus you can spend as much or as little time in there as you want. OH! Also Broadway, I wish I could've gone there too.

  1. Can you also recommend me food I should definitely try? (One of my favorite things in traveling is trying different food, so it’s the same as with previous point – everything – cafes, snacks, drinks – one more time – even if you think it’s banal, you can even just wright you favorite food and I’ll try to find it)

I would recommend trying pizza at least once while you're there. We went to a little Italian restaurant that had pretty good pizza and gellatto but I don't remember what it's called now. You could also check out the Times Square McDonalds. :P

  1. It’s most likely that I would travel alone and for 2 weeks, so if you know – there in NY best place to meet with new people (strange sounding question, but I hope you will understand what I meant by it)

I was only there for a day so I can't help with this much. Maybe the Subway? XD

Before high school, I didn't travel much. The highlights were going to Charlotte, NC to visit my grandparents as a kid and going to the Outer Banks, NC on Summers for vacation. Once we went to Isle of Palms, SC, and I had a blast, but my parents hated it, so we never went back.

During high school I traveled with tour groups set up by teachers at the school. The Summer before Junior year, I visited London, Paris, and Madrid, each for a few days. London was great, and Madrid was awesome, as we visited the city of Toledo which is known for the amazing condition of its historical buildings and history in blacksmithing. I hated Paris though. The place stunk; the people were mean; and it was expensive as hell to boot.

The Summer before Senior year, I went on a similar tour that was hosted by my Russian teacher, who being of Greek descent, set up a trip to see the Mediterranean including Greece and Italy. That was a great trip, and I got to finally see Rome - something I'd wanted to do since I was young since I'd developed a great interest in Ancient Roman. We also took a bus north into the city of Florence. That was perhaps the highlight of the trip, given the countryside's unbelievable beauty. The city itself was no less amazing, and you couldn't spit without hitting a historical landmark. I'd recommend everyone to go there at least once. Greece was also a wonderful experience. Things were more laid back; the food was excellent; and much like Italy, the amount of natural beauty and history is staggering. Rome, however was not without its problems. It gets terribly hot during the Summer, and the people are very rude. Like Paris, it's also very expensive. During that trip we also briefly visited the Turkish coastal city of Kusadasi, touring the vast Roman ruins outside the city. That was another high point, as the ruins were in surprisingly good shape and constructed entirely from marble. The trip's last days were extraordinary as well, as we took a four day cruise of the Mediterranean, stopping at the islands of Rhodes and Mykonos, both of which were fun as hell to visit.

The Summer after I graduated, I went with my Russian class to Russia, visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg. Moscow wasn't that great. Everything looked gray and grim, and the people followed suit. The traffic was awful, and just about every street vendor I bought something from tried to swindle me. At one point, a bunch of dirty shysters tried grabbing dollars out of my wallet as I tried to make a purchase. I made a point not to eat any of the "traditional" food either, sticking to chains brought over from America. Call me cultureless, but I'd rather not take my chances on Russian mystery meat. St. Petersburg on the other hand was a lot of fun. I especially loved the city's architecture, which because of its Western European inspiration and the city's network of canals has awarded the city with the title "Venice of the North". We went there during the "White Nights" as well, and my friends and I had a nice time relaxing in one of the city's parks at midnight while it was still bright outside.

Since high school's been over though, I haven't done much travelling, but that doesn't bother me much. Travelling can be a strenuous experience.

 I love traveling biggrin.png .

When I was younger I went to Barbados to see where my mom grew up and also see some of my family. In high school I went on a band trip to the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany and a few years ago I went to Israel to visit my cousin and her family. Air travel is so expensive though, so most of the time I go on RV trips with my family, which are always fun. I've been able to see a lot of the U.S. that way. I also got to see some of Canada while I lived there too. The only time I've taken a major trip alone was when I went to Israel, but I knew people there so I only traveled alone.

One reason why I travel is because I love it and want to experience new places and cultures, but I also do it to reconnect with family and see where my family is from. One of my goals it to visit every country my family comes from. So far Germany is the only country I can cross off. My dad is from England and my mom is from Guyana, so those two countries are at the top of my list. Next are Ireland, India, and Ethiopia. I have no idea how I'll get to Ethiopia though.

Other countries I want to visit are Hong Kong/ China, France, South Africa, and Brazil among others. There are so many places I want to visit, I don't know how I'll be able to see them all laugh.png .

Also, NYC is a great city, you'll enjoy it. I have family in Manhattan and Queens, but haven't been that many times, so I can't give you much information outside tourist stuff everyone already knows about. If you get the chance though, you should one day visit San Francisco and Los Angeles. Those are two great cities on the best west coast wink.png .

  1. How much have you traveled before? How? I used to travel a lot more, but now I am low on cash. I've done Europe, Mexico, Canada and Nepal (Mt Nagarkot is absolutely the most beautiful place I have ever been)

Are there places which you wanted to visit in the future? Egypt and Okinawa...probably New Zealand

And what you main reason to travel? To experience life...simple as that

Everything you want to tell. Travel everywhere! Experience life...broken record....but I stand by that

Ha, I've got a friend who goes to Japan at the same time I'm going to NY smile.png He fond of Japan culture too.

Yep! I don't know why most of tourists going to Moscow, yeah there most famous landmarks there but, Moscow not a tourist city! It's not really even easy to live here. And Yeah it's good decision to not try local fastfood, you need a local person who could tell you there is safe. It's not so afull how it could sound but salaries in Moscow bigger 2-3 and more times than in other Russia, so a lot of different people comes here from all Russia, Eastern Europe and Middle East, and not all of them lives by law. And there no Russian culture in Moscow, I was born in Moscow and to see culture of my own country I have to go to other cities. Moscow it's great mix of cultures from all other the world.

And about myself (I created topic in early morning at local time, and I had to go for work, so now I have got time):

I had visited a lot of towns and places in Russia, but never was in Siberia and Kamchatka (really want to go there but it's farther from Moscow than NY smile.png ).

When i was a kid I was with parents in Greece and Egypt (Yeah Ancent places was marvelous, but I never was a fan of that counties).

With my sport school I was in Bulgaria and Slovakia.

And I had a school trip to Sweeden and Finland - that was really great countries for me - I liked almost everything there.

Last summer me with 3 friends drived this route - Moscow - Minsk (Belorussia) - Warsaw (Poland) - Krackow (Poland) - Beckov (Slovakia) - Bratislava (Slovakia) - Wien (Austria) - Praha (Czech republic) - Dresden (Germany) - Berlin (Germany) - Brest (Belorussia) - Moscow.

And this winter, the same company, but +1 - Moscow - Smolensk (Russia) - Vilnius (Lithuania) - Riga (Latvia) - Velikiye Luki (Russia) - Moscow.

I can tell really a lot about these routes, but my hands will die then smile.png So I'll Just say that Best town was Krackow (Best food also was there and best hostel too), at second place Praha and on third Dresden.

After that I was in Bansco (Bulgaria) it's skiing resort so try to gues that I was doing there?happy.png

And now I'm going to NY.

My top places I want to go in future - Brazil, Iceland, Denmark, New Zealand and Kamchatka.

And I have got plans about Germany this summer (Mainly because of GalaCon) - estimated route - Ludwigsburg (GalaCon!) - Stuttgart - Munchen - Innsbruck (Austria) - Vaduz (Liechtenstein) - Zurich (Switzerland) - Moscow. We planing to go there by plane but by autostop between cities, and yeah it's sound strange but GalaCon Main goal of this trip and only two out of 4 of us bronies.

About reason of traveling - I'm tired of writing already, and there was great answer - I do not need a reason, I just want to.
