Max awoke, feeling groggy as hay. Probably had too much to drink. But that's odd, he doesn't usually...the bartender. That got was a jerk! The green stallion pulled himself from bed, not even bothering to get on his concierge, but he did slip on the fedora. He headed out to Sugarcube Corner to grab some coffee. When he got their, he ordered the strongest coffee that could be ordered at a bakery. He thanked them, and trotted out to a table outside. Sitting at the first available table. He is about to take a sip when across the rim of his cup, he sees a familiar mare sitting across from him. He must be so out of it, that he didn't notice her. He takes the sip, and he immediately perks up. He questioned if Pinkie Pie drinks this to maintain her bubbly façade, or if that came naturally.

"Hey there. It is Buttonstitch right? Good to see you again." He said pleasantly.

At the sound of someone sitting before her, Button blinked, then smiled, nodding. "That's right. It's good to see you again, Max."  She took a sip of her hot cocoa before speaking again. "Are you feeling better? I understand you didn't mean to get drunk last night." Her smile turned apologetic as she nibbled at her pastry.

"Yeah, I don't know what the hay that barkeeps problem was...Come to think of it a lot of pegasi were drunk last night..." Max shrugged. It probably was nothing.

"And yeah, I am doing better now. This coffee may be the best there ever was." He said, taking another sip, feeling his energy reserves restoring.

"Sorry you had to see me in a...less than presentable manner." He had an apologetic look in his face.

Button chuckled, just smiling that easy smile of hers. "I told you, it's fine. You seem just as nice now as you were then, so I'm not offended." She nodded, working on her toy off to the side, even though her eyes were focused on Max. "Besides, had you not been drunk, I... probably would have shied away a bit more." Button blushed, looking down some.

Max raised an eyebrow at two things. One being her hooves fiddling with something off to the side, and one was her comment on shyness.

"Never would have pegged you as the shy type. You appear very confident and sociable. Probably why my booze brain warmed up to you. Although to be fair, I would likely of approached you sober too." He said in a cheery fashion. His curiosity finally got the better of him.

"Whatcha doing there?" He said, referring to her side.

"Oh, this?" Button smiled, using magic to hold up the near-completed toy. "This is what I do for a living. I make toys out of buttons." She chuckled some, sipping her cocoa again. "As for my shyness, well... I'm fine making friends, usually, but it was an unfamiliar setting. I'd never been to a club before then, either."

"Wow, that is impressive. You are very good at what you do." Max said, amazed by the quality of the toy he was looking at. His ears dropped when he heard that that was her first time going to a club.

"And your first experience was being approached by a Pegasus drunk off his arse..." Max muttered to himself. He looked down into his coffee, feeling guilty. She said it was fine, but he still felt bad for making that her first experience.

Buttonstitch frowned, then reached over, lifting his chin gently with her hoof and speaking softly. "I told you before, it's fine. You didn't mean to get drunk." She smiled warmly. "I'm just glad I was able to help you then, even a little bit... She lowered her hoof slowly, resting it on the table.

Max gave her a weak-but genuine-smile. Though his ears were still drooped back.

"Well at least let me make it up to you. What do you have planned for today?" He asked. He wasn't sure what he would do, but he felt compelled to do something to make up for last nights incident.

Button laughed. "I try to avoid the word 'plan' as much as possible. Meaning, no." She smiled. "I haven't been here long, either. If you have something in mind, I'd love to tag along." She smiled once more, eager and happy to spend more time with the colt. She was really starting to like him.

That got his ears to perk up.

"Well, I was planning on spending the day in the park if that doesn't sound incredibly boring." Max said with light enthusiasm. He was practicing cloud manipulation for lack of anything better to do with his time. Maybe he could...demonstrate for Buttonstitch here.

"It isn't showing off...A lot. Shut up." He thought to himself.

Button's eyes lit up some. "I love to go to the park. One of my favorite places!" She smiled, finishing her breakfast and standing up, shaking out her fluffy tail. "Let's go." She carried her toy via magic, still stitching buttons on. She was good at focusing; her magic wasn't powerful, but it was precise, and allowed her to do various things at once.

"OK then." Max chugged the remaining coffee. His entire body shook upon completion. He flew a few feet of the ground.

"Let us move." He pointed his hoof in an overly dramatic fashion before heading out, making sure he was followed by Buttonstitch. He was looking forward to this.

A giggle escaped the unicorn as he reacted to the coffee, happily trotting along behind him as her braid waved at her side. It was a perfect day to go to the park, the sky clear and bright. A happy sigh escaped Button as they approached the park, tail flicking back and forth as she moved.

Max had plenty of energy for the park now. That coffee did wonders. He was happy to see Buttinstitch happy, for whatever reason, and was looking forward to this time. When they finally reached the park, Max looked at the sky, looking for a cloud. He found none.

"Darn, no clouds. Guess the weather manager is doing her job well today." He thought aloud. He landed next to the unicorn, bouncing slightly.

"So, whatcha want to do?" He asked excitedly.

As Lime and Sky continued walking along, Sky began to stumble and sway more dangerously.

 

"Are you ok Sky?" Lime asked worriedly. Sky's response wasn't coherent, and he soon collapsed to the pavement. 

 

"Sky! Can you hear me??" When Sky didn't stir, Lime hoisted him up onto her back and rushed to the Canterlot hospital, which thankfully was only about 3 blocks away. Dropping him off, the nurses quickly told her that he had a serious case of alcohol poisoning. 

 

"So much for saying you were fine and could 'hold your liquor'... Why did I even bother talking to you in the first place? Thanks to you, I probably lost my client's deal, and wasted a whole night of my life I'll never get back. What did I ever see in you anyways. I'll just leave you here, you'll be fine, but I think I can do without you Sky."

 

Taking one last look at Sky before leaving, Lime said quietly, "I sure hope you figure yourself out Sky, but you'll have to do it alone. I won't sacrifice myself for you. Sorry."

 

Leaving the hospital, Lime ambled home to her stylish condo in a  well-to-do section of downtown. Throwing herself into bed, and feeling the effects of her ciders beginning to wear off, Lime had just one thought on her mind as she drifted into sleep. 

 

"Sky may have been a total scrub, but maybe if I could find the right stallion, I would be happy. At the very least, it was nice to have a colt to talk to... Maybe I'll go looking for somepony tomorrow. Shouldn't be too hard to do, I mean, if I can drag myself out of destitution and abject poverty, I can certainly hook a stallion!"

 

*The Next Morning*

 

Waking up, Lime dragged herself out of bed and rubbed her temples; she had a bit of a hangover. 

 

"Oh well, if that's the worst that happened last night, I should be happy. Hope Sky's alright, but whatever. I'll go have brekfast at my favorite doughnut place, that always cheers me up!"

 

Leaving her condo, Lime headed off to Joe's Doughnut Shop for a cup of coffee and some pastries, hoping her morning would be an improvement over last night's debacle

Honey Jars ran up next to him and helped him up. "Are you OK? You didn't damage anything did? Is it serious? No-no it can't be serious! Please don't say it's serious. Because then I would feel bad and I don't want to feel bad." She said as she began to blush at her own amount of care

"Oh umm. OK. If you say so." Honey replied in an embarresed tone. "It's just that I don't like seeing other ponies get hurt. Because then I feel as if I done something wrong, and because of that they get hurt." She fell silent again for a not-so-brief moment. "I'm glad you're OK."

Honey Jars nodded and began to walk alongside him. She was looking around and saw a large building off to her left that read "Art gallery" on it. "I think we are meant to go that way." She said as she pointed to the art gallery all the way to where it was. "Obviously you know this place better than me...."

Honey Jars blushed when he held the door open for her. "Umm. Thank you." She said as she walked into the building. She was stunned when she walked in. It looked much more amazing on the inside than it did on the outside. "Wow." She muttered breathlessly. "This is great."

Honey Blushed at the honey part even though he was merley saying her name (or was he? DUN DUN DUUUUUN!) "Umm. I would like to look at modern art. I like the way it looks. It looks ... Nice." She said, walking with him to the "Modern art exhibit."
