The idea of a Chrysalis "redemption" episode.

I just want to start off by making one thing clear. When a character is "redeemed" that does not mean s/he goes from being absolutely good to absolutely evil. I think we tend to see it in a really black-and-white view of the situation of redemption episode. An antagonistic character can be redeemed whilst keeping true to their basic character, Discord and Trixie were testaments to that.

With Chrysalis, I can understand there is much more of a case against the idea of her having a redemption episode, but my biggest focus here isn't just on the character (though that IS important) but on the WRITING and EXECUTION. I mean, c'mon, if someone can take My Little Pony and make a good show out of that, they can make a redemption episode for someone like Chrysalis.

Like with Discord's playful and fun-loving nature that was used as the basis of him not being irredeemable, it's Chrysalis motives that just about save her from me seeing her as irredeemable, only really because the reason behind those motives are pretty vague (is she doing what is best for her people, or just greedy and wants to get a power boost). If the episode was written REALLY WELL, then I can see it working as Chrysalis deciding to no longer antagonize the ponies leave them be and perhaps develop a newfound respect for them, the latter vice-versa. That way the Changeling threat is neutralized but they're not friends either, which to me, would be going a step too far, considering her personality.

She doesn't have to pure as the driven snow, she just doesn't have to be an active threat to Equestria anymore, that would be enough and really, the only way it can work whilst simultaneously keeping the characters in-character.

Remember, that changelings feed off love. If she's having to attack Equestria, that means that the Changelings don't love her enough for her to gain sustanince. If done properly, the changelings should be able to survive without having to resort to this (changeling feeds off queens love, queen feeds off changelings' love.)

I dont think she will get a redemption...... Most likely she will be part of another major battle scene, where shes concocted some devious plan to kill off all the ponies. Genocidal Ponies dont get redeemed.... they get hung.

I have to see her interactions with her minions before I can decide if she's redeemable. If she actually cares about them, then someone could work with that. If she's an Azula-esque, nasty witch who rules with an iron, hole-ridden hoof, then nope.

I'm getting really evil vibes from this one, honestly. Like, Sombra levels of evil vibes. When your ultimate plan amounts to little more then genocide via draining people of love and possibly even just flat out eating the inhabitants (if the comic is to be trusted, which by all accounts it is), you might be completely evil. Maybe. I dunno, you might want to see a doctor about that.

I say give Chrysalis a unique and maybe tragic backstory but keep her as a straight up villain. I will be suggesting that until the day the writers destroy my Love Poison head canon.

Kinda like with King Sombra I don't see Chrysalis becoming good or being someone who would just give up and leave them alone. If the comic showed us anything, Chrysalis wanted revenge right after losing and it didn't even involve food this time. This just shows that Chrysalis is just pure evil. Not to mention even if Chrysalis were to not bother the ponies anymore, she would just go off and kill some other poor race of creators. So I say keep Chrysalis and the changelings evil.

Considering how she sang a song about how she gleefully tricked someone into marrying her that she didn't love and merely intended to use as a tool. With the intention of also conquering and using the entire population in the same manner. Whilst also stating that she had literally dreamed of that moment since she was a child. Yeah Im thinking redemption pretty unlikely. She is pretty darn evil, one of the scariest kinds of evil. The kind that lurks in front of your face and only reveals itself when its too late.

I don't know. Although i do believe there needs to be an episode showing that not all changelings are evil, it doesn't necessarily have to be Chrysalis. As "evil" as she is i doubt she would even consider being anything but friendly anyone besides her own race.

Mmm... I don´t think Chrysalis could be reformed.

They were able to do that with Discord because really ha was just having fun in Return of Harmony (he didn´t even tried to hurt anyone). The only think that was really bad was making the Mane 6 hate each other and he did it so they wouldn´t be able to torn him back into stone (at least that is what I got from it).

But Chrysalis actually seemed to enjoy what she did. Also, what she wanted was to get power unlike the other characters that have been redeemed. I don´t really think it´s a good idea. She should stay bad.

Compared to Discord, her case would be very different.

In the end, Discord was basically a troll/trickster. He didn't actually assault Celestia or even try to take over Equestria as clearly as Chrysalis planned; he gave the mane six two chances to land the first punch intentionally, so he was a dude over flexing his powers for fun and got cut short.

It would be interesting to reform her though. Sort of build toward a new evil, one that takes priorities over past conflicts and calls for unlikely allies, even if only temporary. A new evil that even the princess who rises the sun, the princess who rules the night, the master of discord and the queen of the changelings would not be able to face alone.

I don't really think she can be redeemed to be good. Chrysalis is basically pure evil, and who has a huge army of Changelings that can change their forms into copying anyone. Basically, she shouldn't be redeemed because she well sang a evil duet about how she didn't care for Shining Armor only to feed off of his love and use him as a pawn. No redemption needed.

Okay, why does Chrysalis need to be redeemed? One can tell, just by looking at the changelings' appearance, that they're meant to be twisted, untrustworthy creatures. I wouldn't go as far to say they are evil, but instead doing what they need to in order to survive. That said, I don't believe Chrysalis to be evil, but making a "redemption" episode for Chrysalis, where she promises to leave Equestria alone and not feed off love, would mean killing off the changelings, as they'd starve, unless they sign a treaty saying "Oh, we'll give you fifty ponies monthly for you to feed off of."

NO, just no.  We have redeemed so many villians that it is cliche now.  Chrysalis is a bad changeling thing.  That she should remain.
