I have the whole collection still in boxes. On ebay, that particular gold togepi still in the box is going for around $10-20. They were a set of promotional cards sold by Burger King in 1999 to promote Pokemon the First Movie.

There was a recall of these though as two infants died of suffocation because of the pokeball the cards were contained in. Apparently half of the pokeball covered their nose and the other covered their mouth.

But yeah, I'd keep it simply for collectors value. That's what I'm doing with my set considering they really don't fetch much of a price.

Hmm burger king, I would have never thought of that! It says America on the box so I have no idea why it is here in the UK? And they are banned, wow I am glad I posted this! Thanks guys!

According to the old pokemon website's news page (seen via the wayback machine), these cards were only distributed at participating burger king restaraunts in the US. However, I can confirm they were distributed in Canada as well.

Either the cards were distributed in the UK against my sources or your father might have purchased it as an investment. Pokemon was arguably at the height of its popularity during the time these were being distributed and I'm certain that there were quite a few collecting these for their potential value.

All of mine are sitting in a box in the basement somewhere lol. You bought them for like $4 at Burger King. I think I have the entire collection.
