"Well, I heard that you and Star have a bit of a checkered past together. Before I jump to any conclusions, I want to hear both sides of the story. So why don't you, me, and Star have a nice, civil chat about what happened, and see if we cant get some closure?" Max would not have him or anypony cause a scene, or cause anypony harm. He put a hoof around Beat and guided him back over to the mares on the beach.

"Like I said, let us be civil. No need to cause drama where drama is not needed." He said in a calm manner. Max wasn't violent, but he could be intimidating, given the fact that he stood almost as tall as Princess Luna.

"Hello girls. I was just getting aquainted with Beat Drop here. And I thought we could all have a little chat together. Why don't you start us off Beat? How did you and Star get aquainted?" Max asked in a pleasant, if not slightly venomous, manner.

Star's eyes just widened as she looked back out at Max and Beat...only to see them a few feet away.
Beat on the other hoof...put on a feeble fake smile and stared at Star for a moment. "Uuuuh...heeeey Staaar..." He said, biting his lip. "Hello Beat." Star replied, her voice full of a sweet rage. Beat turned his attention to Max and took a deep breath.  "Well uhhh...Star and I met a while ago...um...we got into a relationship...and...I was seventeen alright ? I was young, stupid, and unkind. I cheated on Star...and I hate thinking about it...I feel so guilt-" "So why didn't you say that to me when it happened ? Rather than just running off like a scared foal. I don't want to talk to you Beat. I don't need to. Accent, don't waist your time with this piece of crap." Star turned around and walked back into the house, before anypony could stop her.

Beat whimpered and looked down at his hooves...unsure what else to say.

Accent looked extremely shocked. She looked to Beat, then to Star, then to Beat, then to Max, back to Beat, back to Sta-- She saw that she had stormed off, easily upset. She then turned back to Max and Beat.

Max's face was one of shock. Never would he of guessed Star to be capable of such hate. It scared him slightly.

"Listen, I have only been dating Star for about 2 days now. But I know her well enough to know that she isn't usually like that. Clearly she is harboring extreme negative emotions. And that isn't healthy. So I wasn't to see if I cant help her-and you Beat-come to some closure about what happened. You cheated on her when you were seventeen right? That was, what, 3 years ago if I had to guess. While that was extremely crappy of you to do, chances are you have matured a little since then. I hope."

Max turned to Accent, hoping to shed light on the older Beat.

"Accent, ignoring what he did as a teenager, what do you think? Is he the same lousy piece of crap Star makes him out to be?" Max felt obligated to see this problem resolved. Why? Maybe he feels pity for Beat. Maybe he doesn't want this ruining his chances with Accent. Maybe he doesn't want to see the mare of his dreams like this. Or maybe its his nature. After all, his cutie mark IS a red cross and a shield. Either way, he was going to see this through to the end.

Beat just nodded. "Star should be angry...last time I saw her I was running off with another mare. I deserve this...it was stupid and wrong of me. She has every right to be angry." He said, looking up at Accent. "And I understand if you don't want to be around me either..." He said.

Star walked up the stairs and into Max's room. She climbed under the covers and curled up into a ball.

Max looked over at beat, his tone dead serious.

"You have matured. You admitted to your mistake, and assume all responsibility for what happened. Owning up to ones mistakes takes guts. And its the mark of a real colt." He gave Beat a reassuring pat on the shoulder, and turned towards the house.

"I will see about calming Star down. Then maybe you can apologize, and hope she forgives you. Or at least understands. I hate seeing her like this." Max flew up to his balcony, and into his room. He looked around, only to see a bulge under the blanket. He poked his head under, meeting Stars gaze.

"Star? Are you OK?" Max spoke softly, trying to comfort her, bring her emotional level down.

DANG IT! Why am I always stuck with decisions? *sigh* OK. Pros and cons.

 

Pros: Beat had basically just somehow repaid himself, and he is actually starting to be fun to be around. That, and I'm not being complimented all the dang time.

 

Cons: He made Star upset... Star, although we didn't have so much of a close connection to each other, is still a close friend of mine, and I don't like seeing her sad again. 

 

Another pro: He is kind of cute, but I don't want him to find out.

 

Another con: I don't want to betray Star... 

 

Accent had only stared at Beat, deep in thought.

Star shrugged slightly before rolling over. "He left me...literally right on my doorstep. I watched him just walk off with another mare." She said, very quietly.
She didn't like Beat anymore...she would admit it, but the memory was dreadful...even if she liked Max now...it still hurt.

Beat shuffled his hooves. "I'll...I'll give you some time to think." He said, grabbing his vest and towel before walking into the house and sitting down in the kitchen.

"And that was a terrible thing for him to do. I understand your anger." Max began to stroke Stars mane, talking softly.

"But from what he said, he is legitimately remorseful for what he did. He said-and I quote him-'it was stupid and wrong of me. She as every right to be angry.' And he is right. But hanging on to hate and anger isn't healthy. It can really hurt you and who you are in the long run. I'm not asking for you two to be friends, but to see that he has changed for the better and to let go of your hate." Max didn't realize it, but he actually crawled into the bed with her and was giving her an affectionate hug. Sub-conscious must be huggy.

Star looked up. "He...He really said that ?" She asked.
She had gone from being angry...to feeling terrible. Beat probably felt so bad about himself...and she probably just made it worse. "Oh dear...I feel terrible." She said, letting her head fall back onto the bed (Yay rhyming)

"Hey now, Its OK. You were lost in the heat of the moment. It happens to the best of us." Max said, nuzzling her ears.

"Sometime today-it doesn't have to be now-you should go and just talk about what happened. Get it out in the open. You will feel better in the long run, and I am sure he will too." For reasons unknown to him, Max was feeling oddly affectionate. Giving her another loving squeeze and kissing her on the cheek, his voice continued its soft pattern.

"I'm sure you will work it out. You are strong and kind enough to let go of it." He whispered in her ear.

Accent had just became totally confused... She walked out to the ocean, and sat down in the water to where it was just at her chest. She sat there, thinking... An idea formed in her head, but it was a risky one... She wouldn't be too sure on how everyone would take it too...

Star just nodded. "I will apologize. He and Accent seemed to be getting along well...and I don't want to be the one to screw that up." She said, sitting up.

 

 

Beat stayed inside, sitting on a soft chair by the window. He glanced out to see Accent sitting in the water...he wanted to go talk to her, but thought it best to just give her some time...

Accent continued to sit in the water for a few more minutes. Then, all of a sudden, she had gotten up, drying herself with the towel back on the beach, and walked back to the house. She had to walk through the kitchen though, seeing Beat right there looking at her. She only stared at him back.

With another peck Max agreed with that statement.

"You can go whenever you like. Let me know, and we go find him. It's nice to see him and Beat hitting it off so well." Max was growing thirsty after so much talking, so he went to his min fridge to grab the least alcoholic drink in there. Eventually he settled on some hard cider, deciding he could manage the flavor. He pulled out several glasses, balancing them with his wings and carrying the bottle in his teeth. He set it down on a desktop next to the bed before climbing back in. He poured himself a glass before turning to Star.

"You want some?"

Star shrugged. "Why not." She said. "But after this I would like to go find Beat...if that's okay with you." She said, glancing at the Cider in Max's hoof.

Beat looked up at Accent then down at her hooves. "Hi." He said. He slowly looked back up into her eyes. "You...you okay ?" He asked.

Accent just walked over to him. Her gaze seemed neutral, but still having the same feeling of being ignored. However, instead of leaving him right there, she grabbed his neck with one of her hooves, pulled him right up to her body, and began to kiss him passionately...

Max poured two glasses of hard cider, handing one to Star and quickly downing his own. He shook his head instinctively at the heat of it going down his throat. He got up, standing by the door.

"I think if I recall correctly, the exit is down the hall, down the stairs at the end, through the kitchen, and to the left. Do you want me to come with you or should I wait here?" He would either sit here and chip away at that cider, or help her let go of a 3 year grudge...

(Which seems funner?)

Star down her glass of cider and instantly regretted it. She coughed and hacked for a moment before looking up. "That was a bad idea." She said, in a very raspy voice.
She stood up and walked over to the door, still coughing slightly she walked down the hall and down the stairs.
She walked out into the kitchen but quickly turned around and hid behind the wall after seeing Accent and Beat...kissing. She smiled slightly...knowing that everything was going to be okay.

Beat's eyes widened and he was about to push her away...but he wanted to enjoy this...he didn't want her to stop. He closed his eyes and placed his forelegs around her neck.

Max regretted offering Star a drink. It clearly had too much kick. Max never really drinks, only on certain occasions, but he had enough to be able to take it. He debated rather he should follow Star or not. He decided that this was her fight, and she needed to fight it alone. But he would help her when she needed it. He left the door open, and returned to his bed, sitting on the side. He poured another glass and took a drink.

"Now I must avoid getting drunk."

 

2 MINUTES LATER

 

Max was drunk. He ended up drinking the entire bottle. And his tolerance was low enough for him to get drunk.

"Oh this is *hiccup* bad. Star is gonna KILL me." He slurred. He was sitting on the floor, back against the mini fridge, imagining the many ways a spiteful Star would murder him. She wouldn't, but Booze Brain said otherwise.

((It was either that, or drag this out a lot longer. I had ideas....))

 

Accent continued to hold the kiss for as long as she could breathe... She just felt so intoxicated by his soft lips... It was driving her wild. Absolutely wild. She had broke the kiss a while later, panting, with a sultry look decorating her eyes.

Star walked back up to Max's room and opened the door. "Max you're not gonna...Max ?" She stared at him, leaning against the mini fridge...quite obviously drunk. She sighed and went over to help him up. She moved him to the side and started searching the mini fridge for some water...until she noticed something else.

 

Another 2 minutes later

 

Star was practically laying on top of Max, with a bottle of coconut rum in one hoof...the bottle was half empty. "Ya *Hic* Ya know Max...you're a *Hic* You're a really nice pony...I like youuuuu." She said, holding back a laugh as she hiccuped yet again.

Beat opened his eyes as Accent broke the kiss. His eyes were just as wide as they were when she had first started the kiss. He opened his mouth but it took a moment for sound to come out. "W-Wow..." He said, still with his forelegs around Accent.

"I could say the same thing about it too, Beat...", Accent said softly, matching the tone of her voice to what her eyes were suggesting. Slowly, her tail started to wrap around his, with a suggesting grin forming over Accent's face. 

 

"So... You wanna continue this little session back in my room?"

"I like you so much, Star, that *hiccup* That...I don't know." He said, laughing rather loudly. He noticed one of her wings draped down near him, and without a second thought, starts kissing it all over. This continued until he burped into it, when he pulled back. Luckily his face was already brick red, so embarrassment was invisible.

"Thankfully I already don't remember this." He said, and instead, started making out with her nearby hoof.

Star burst into fits of laughter as Max started kissing her wing. "BAHAHAHA MAX *HIC* MAX." She calmed down slightly as he moved to her hoof. She lay down all the way in his lap and smiled up at him. "You know *HIC* This...like *HIC* Yea."
