@@Steel Accord,

@,

Ocean sighed. "I'm not saying you should part with your weapons. I am saying that if we had come without weapons the Atlanteans probably would have been kind enough to just send us away rather than killing us...if they want to kill us at all. If we arrive with more weapons they're more likely to think that we mean them harm."

@,

((So...I am kinda waiting for you to approach them, since they don't really have any reason to approach you. And I am assuming Moon has a flashlight so she know's where she is going...))

The princess kept watching the mare until she accidentally knocked a rock off the larger rock she was peaking over. She quickly jumped back and hid next to the two other ponies, hoping that the mare hadn't noticed.

(OOC: you know, this debate reminds me in part of the trident debates over here and the gun debates in America...).

Feather followed anxiously after Dox, and started using her fore hooves to gently splash Frost Bite's face with the cool lake water.

"You alright in there Frosty? " She asked the unconscious unicorn mare, before looking at Paradox. "I agree. " Feather told him, carrying on their previous conversation.

Whatever the group decided on, Feather wouldn't bring the battle sale - after all, just that morning when thinking about sea monsters she had admitted it wouldn't do her much good in a fight...

Sea monsters.

An all together more distressing thought occurred to Feather. "Dox," her eyes widened with the realisation. "How do we know there's only ponies down here? There could be something else; something that isn't open to negotiation..."

Dox nodded as Feather agreed with him. "Weapons would be a bad choice. We need to go in free of anything that could do harm." He then sat for a moment in thought about what she said next. "Well, there could be any number of things down here, but I doubt there really is."

(Been quiet today...like...everywhere)

@@Count Paradox

Frostbite's nose twitched at the water splash on her face, and after a few more she managed to open her eyes slightly. She could make out the blurry image of a white light against the darkness of the cave. Wait...that wasn't a white light, that was Paradox..."Heh...didn't know you cared" she wheezed before collapsing again.

His face flushed red as she said that. He was about to reply when she passed out again. Now why did she have to go and say that? He picked her up again and put her in the water, floating, making sure he kept her head up.

(( Seemed like we were both stuck. I was thinking after I posted earlier that there wasn't really a way of approach so im sorry about that. And yes she does have a flashlight, even though in my mind I thought the water was glowing in a way. ))

Unluckily for the princess, Moon heard something falling behind one of the rock mounds and shined her flashlight to see. Nothing was sighted, but she still took precaution and slowly walked up to the front just before stopping.

"Uhh.. Hello?" She spoke in a softer tone.

Sighing in defeat, Steel reached behind him.

"If it should please you my lady." He loosened the straps that held his scabbards at his side. He unfurled his wings and lowered them both to the ground, laying them both cross-wise. "You, my lady, and Star the Chronicler know more of their culture than I. If you think they would perceive me a threat, I shall henceforth go unarmed."

Of course, should it come to it, Steel was perfectly capable of disarming an enemy and using their own weapons upon them. A true fighter is never completely unarmed, the ability to fight comes just as much from a mindset as it does a weapon. He knew the Master Sgt. would agree.

Giant watched from across the fire as Steel took off his swords and dropped them on the ground at the request of the historian and Ocean Wind. Not that Steel had let him take the weapons for his own good, but one word from the water pony and who was to argu?

He glanced up at his own battle-saddle. Uh-no. Not one chance one chance in a thousand. "Don't look at me," he grumbled, downing a third portion of food.

Steel trotted over to his would-be mentor.

"Oh Master Sergeant. Nopony could ever ask you to part with your own weapons." He said, jovial and friendly. "I must accomodate my lady's wishes and they both make a valid point either way." He then leaned in close to whisper. "Besides, you'd be surprised how many techniques of my discipline don't involve a weapon. I'm also a black belt in karate. No matter our differing paths, Master Sergeant, no pacifist can take the fight out of warrior, nor can they truly understand what makes us who we are."

Well darn right no pacifist was going to take the fight out of this warrior, but Giant wasn't as confident as Steel about their ability to fight off a gang of hostile ponies barehoofed. He didn't know about the colt, but he'd actually found himself in squeezes like that before, and it was no fun.

"Look, kid," he said as levelly as he could. "Maybe you don't care. But I'm no samurai. Take away my battle-saddle and my grenades, and I'm just a heavy guy with a little boxing on the side." He set his plate down. "I'm not trying to contradict you, but...you agree it's out duty to protect these crazy ponies, don't you? That's just what I'm gonna' do. Whether they like it or not."

Giant relaxed, and set a pot of coffee to boil on the fire from packets he'd fished out of his mane after sitting in the truck. "Yeah, fine," he conceded. As long as Steel would back him up if somepony tried to disarm him, he could live with it. He shrugged. "There's probably not much of anything down here anyway. Don't know why we're all gettin' so worked up over nothing"  Giant dumped coffee grounds into the top of the pot, tossing the hot package over his shoulder, where it landed in the river and drifted across towards the opposite shore, out of sight.

But what if there are other things down here, and we're caught without our weapons?   The thought snaked through Feather's mind, though she did her best to ignore it. Paradox is probably right - after all, we haven't seen anything since we came down here.

Well, unless that machine that attacked the sub counts.

Nevertheless, Feather was resolved about leaving the saddle, so instead she chose to focus her attention on Frost Bite, who Paradox had taken into the lake. She followed the other two ponies into the water; her waistcoat was getting rather filthy, after all.   Frost Bite had been murmuring before, but it appeared she had gone back under.

The princess's eyes widened...along with the two guards next to her.

She took a deep breath and nodded at the two. "We're running." She muttered. In an instant the three of them darted out from behind the rock, practically flying passed Moon as they shot down the cave. The two guards kept running but the princess stopped for a split second to inspect the mare before she too followed the guards into the darkness.

(( You think they would have some sort of pocket translator back at Atlantis, just for everyone to hear what they say? ))

In just a bit, Moon heard the leap of 3 creatures above her. She wasn't able to get a good look at them from how fast they went, but turned around and had a short eye contact with the Princess before they all vanished again. It took her some time to realize that those weren't ordinary ponies. Ones that didn't come from the expedition group from their strange markings on their body. When Moon did find out about that though, she just let out a smile and spoke in a slight whisper.

"I'd like to meet you some time.."

And to think that the only reason why she signed up in the first place was out of boredom, while slowly turning around and walked back toward the camp.

(( This is part 1. I will respond with part 2 shortly. ))

@,

"As you wish, my lady."

Steel felt a fool, not for the first time in front of Ocean. Constantly he misread what it was she wanted or desired, even back to what she wanted from her bags when they first met. Perhaps it was not his place to be at her side, but in her shadow. Acting as silent guardian, instead of some showy defender.

(( This is part 2. ))

Once arriving, Moon Wave noticed that nothing really had changed, except the fact that Paradox and Frostbite were at the lake for some reason. She quickly slid in between the trucks and made her appearance again, like someone just went off somewhere not too far for a minute and came back.

In due time, she paced back and forth for a bit, passing by Ocean a few times before making a decision.

Slowly Moon bent down and put her mouth close to the ear, and gave a whisper.

"I saw them.."

@@Count Paradox,@@Ano170,

(I was gonna have a needlessly dramatic recovery, but you know...)

It didn't take long for the water to take effect, the temperature was surprisingly cool, at least in comparison to the heat of the fire. Frostbite stirred a little before she could manage to open her eyes, everything was crystal clear to her this time and she could feel everything - including Paradox still holding her up. "Hey handsome, watch where you're puttin' those hooves!" she joked with a weak chuckle. She started to charge her horn, ready to freeze the water she was on to get herself a foothold.

(Seriously, you might want to stop her from using her magic. Her bracelets are still by the fire and if she freezes the lake...)

@,

(OOC: Ah, dramatic recoveries are always fun! Coming from the girl who wrote a sue... Hey! Once I realised, I would've killed her off straight away if I was the one in charge of the story! Besides, the main writer's character was a sue too, and a self-insert... *ahem* Don't do self-inserts kids, especially in joint fanfics with your friends. Isn't that kind of what this is? The roleplay? No. But - Now, moving on...).

Hearing that last comment, Feather shot over through the water towards Paradox and Frost Bite. Carefully, she took the latter out of the former's hooves, not noticing the spark of magic forming at the base of Frost Bite's horn.

"Hey, Frosty-err, Frost Bite." she rambled with a jovial tone as she hooked her hooves under the mare's forelegs and gently dragged her through the water to shore, away from Paradox. "You're ah...you're fine now, right?" Dragging the pony back onto dry land, Feather flashed Dox what was meant to be a reassuring smile. "She's fine. Better off here on dry land. Don't want to spend too long in that dirty lake, right Frost? Heh," Feather laughed, a little shrilly. "Pick up all sorts of water parasites - like toxoplasma...or, well, no that doesn't live in water but still, bleuch...Ah heh, am I right?"

(OOC: That was surprisingly fun to write - feel free to keep making Feather feel uncomfortable, she needs more embarrassed ramblings. XD).

Still not feeling completely with it, Frostbite simply drifted to the shore as she was pulled along by Feather, not noticing her calling her Frosty. "Heeey...you...how's things going with the thing, and the ponies?" She shook her head, cancelling her magic and struggled to her feet, but her knees buckled and she collapsed again. "N-no, the water...the water, I need the c-c-cold..." she struggled to get her words out again as she flopped one hoof out to the lake in an attempt to beckon the water to her.

Feather realised that Frost Bite was speaking. "The ponies?" she frowned at the question for a moment in bewilderment. "Oh...they're ah, they're fine, Frost Bite."  The unicorn stretched out a hoof, and it took Feather a moment to realise that Frost was reaching for the water, not Dox.

"The water?" she glanced at the still somewhat delirious mare in her forelegs. "Alright," she told Frost doubtfully, as she carried her back into the shallows. "Just ah..please don't drown."

(Good job she's only small :P easy to be carried around by everpony xD )

The water again seemed to revive her, she almost instantly perked up and began splashing herself with the cool lake water. She stood up, and after wobbling for a second she kept her balance by spreading her legs further apart. "I got this..." she mumbled as she charged her horn again. Within seconds, the lake as far as could be seen was layered in a thick sheet of ice, and she flopped forwards onto the sub-zero surface, completely unaware of the extent of her magic.

"Hey...uhm...Qu...F...Feather, wasn't it?" she eventually groaned out as she looked around "about that igloo..."

Feather's eyes widened, her jaw dropping as the lake froze over. A part of her wanted to laugh at the unexpectedness and by all accounts impossibility of the situation.

Wow. Just...wow. Wow sums it up nicely.

She glanced down at Frost Bite, not really sure what to make of the impressive mare. "Igloo?" she repeated, and laughed - genuinely, this time, amazed if a little surprised. "What about - " she began, then stopped, and cocked her head to the side quizzically. "Um..." a hint of worry crept into her tone. "Wasn't Paradox in that lake?"

Giant facehoofed as Frostbite froze the entire lake. Personally, he found it a bit of improvement, but, you know, the 'pacifits' were doing a great job of not irritating whatever was down here.

Then again, maybe Frostbite shouldn't be placed in that camp. She wasn't in Giant's camp, but she wasn't...comfortably in any.

That was when he noticed her bracelets sitting by his hooves at the. Frostbite had said something about needing those to control her magic on the sumbarine, so Giant snapped them up in his mouth and trotted over towards the edge of the ex-lake. Not too close. Just within talking distance.

"Forgetting something, Frost?" he muttered around the jewelry. "I gotta' say, maybe I shouldn't give these to you. Sometimes you're more useful half-incapacitated half-unleashed. I like what you've done with the place."

(dammit... missed too much... gonna have to put out multiple posts)

Dox had gently held her in the water, hoping that it would properly cool her down. He smiled when she woke up, but his face turned red again when she spoke, and he looked down. One hoof was at her upper back, supporting it, while his other hoof was under her flank, holding it up. He quickly moved it to the small of her back. "S-sorry..." Suddenly, like lightning, Feather took her away, she seemed to be flustered. He chuckled.

'Well, well, well... somepony's jealous.' He watched as she took her out of the water, then brought her back in. Frost got up and her horn began to glow. Almost instantly, the water around his arms and legs froze solid. He tried to move, but they wouldn't budge. "Uh... A little help here?" He called out as he shivered.

"Probably" she shrugged at Feather, not hearing what she said completely, being too focused on getting cold as quick as possible.

Eventually, Giant came within sight of the lake, and called out to them. "Bracelets? What are you..." she looked down at her hooves and her eyes widened, she suddenly seemed MUCH more awake than she previously was. Following the ice with her eyes, it trailed off into the darkness of the cave, far beyond what she had expected to happen with her magic "Oh no...Feather! Wasting no time, she jumped into her bracelets - quite literally, then turned and ran back onto the ice. She was about to call out for Paradox's attention when she caught a glimpse of an anomaly in the solid white water's surface. She breathed a sigh of relief that he wasn't frozen under, and walked over to him again unfettered by the slippery surface, completely devoid of all panic previously in her demeanour. "It's amazing how quickly things turn around isn't it?" she joked as her teal magic encased the ice around Paradox, breaking it into tiny chunks. Holding a hoof out to help Paradox out of the water, she couldn't help but feel responsible, no matter how much she tried to hide it. If she'd have paid attention...
