The Key Gear x akita-ken Scandal

About a little more than a month ago, @Zoop posted an entry in the quotes portfolio that quickly garnered a fair bit of attention.

 

 

After about a month's worth of labour, I have finally completed my biggest art project to date, in a bid to quash the scandal and clear my name D:

 

Here is what really happened:

 

It is a typical weekday night. And Key, being the sleep-deprived pony she is, busies herself with all sorts of complicated computery things. The lack of sleep however, begins to get to her, leading her train of thought to veer into all sorts of dangerous things that would give even Feld0 a heart attack.

 

 

 

 

What's this? akita-ken sees his *good, good* >friend< in distress and, knowing her stubbornness in refusing to go to sleep, makes a nice cup of coffee to get her through the night.

 

 

 

 

Key looks to see who has brought her the drink of gods. What might she be contemplating?

 

 

 

 

A few awkward moments pass. akita-ken begins to speak.

 

"You're welco....omgWADDAFUQ!"

 

See, I was innocent! And that is not a blush that you see! D:

 

 

 

 

Now that that's out of the way, how is my art? :3 Any comments? (Yeah, I know it's been like a while since I've gotten to posting any art, I have this backlog of requests and art to finish T_T)

Yup, that's it. That's the real story! There is nothing extra, no hidden subtext, no special features, and no panels that come after that fourth one containing anything that would be questionable in the slightest.

 

Also... I regret nothing! I would do it again in a heartbeat! And... Ummm... What happens in the Staff Lounge apparently doesn't stay in the Staff Lounge. And, yeah, they do give a pretty good representation of what happened. I need to get more sleep. I do crazy things after not getting enough sleep for days on end.

 

 

*ahem*

 

Seriously, though, I'm no art critic but these panels are fun to look at, the style is great for this comic especially... Actually... I can't brain anymore... Errr... I'm looking at the time. It's like... 1 AM. I'm doing it again!

Yay! OTP! I'm ok with this, for now. Maybe I'll write a fan fiction. I've never written one before, but I have written over a 1,000,000 characters in the RP World area. As dark as my RP stuff is, a plain, ordinary Slice of Life fiction would be an amusing diversion. Though, I could be saying that simply because it is 4:40 AM and I just had the worlds most wild jumpscare nightmare. Regarding that second part of this statement, don't be so sure?

Let me say something that I should have said in my first post in here, but I was too tired to think of something rational (thus more licking, oh gosh). See, Akita-ken is really good. I got to see the panels as they were being made. I can't deny that it was, in all honestly, a wonderful experience. From lines, to coloring, to all of the other little details - I feel as though this was a gift of epic proportions, because art, especially pony art, is something that I love. Seeing the individual steps in the process was honestly beautiful. I love how everything came together in the end, as well.

 

Actually, this really is a great gift. We're both in it, but it was up to akita-ken to do all of the work and to communicate the humor without being over the top with things. It is a challenge to take a weird situation and make it funny, but I think that akita-ken pulled it off quite nicely. To be honest, especially if you are a computer wonk, the humor is very present, even in the first panel. You kinda need to know me to get the humor though, that's ok, let me explain.

 

First panel. Yes, that's actually me after one of my insane, crazy marathons of mashing buttons and chasing bugs all around the site, particularly with PHP, I begin to break a bit. I try to do beautiful things, run into an insane bug, and end up sleepwalking into oblivion. See that "DROP TABLE 'users'" in the thought bubble? I just deleted all of your accounts. See that "rm -rf /"? I just destroyed everything that you loved. It's a good thing that I lose the ability to type past a certain hour of the night.

 

Second panel. That look. Yes, I must have my coffee. I used to hate the stuff, but then I discovered the glory. It was a slow process to discover the best way of using coffee without getting sick and/or instant sleeping. (Yes, coffee, consumed wrongly, makes me sleepy.) Actually, sometimes I don't even need to drink it, just the smell and sight of it makes me crazy and gives a boost. More than likely, this is what led to what happened next.

 

Third panel. *That* look. This is a different look. I honestly don't think I should communicate the full background here. It is something that could conceivably be used against me.

 

Fourth panel. It happens. You know. A cup of liquid glory. A random act of kindness. Next thing you know, you want to do something to repay the kindness. Surely, everyone can understand this? I bet you can. So, to repay the kindness I... I licked akita-ken. For the record, this wasn't really adequate repayment, I think I owe him a favor. Maybe I really will write that fic? Maybe it's 5:00 AM in the morning, and I should go back to sleep?

 

Anyway, one thing that needs to be said is that when you lick something, you can taste it. Akita-ken tasted quite tangy. It kinda makes sense, though, doesn't it? Just look at that three-toned mane and tail? That delightful fur coat. Those glasses! You don't have to be citrus to be tangy! You merely have to be tangy to be tangy. And, trust me, akita-ken tasted quite tangy indeed. Since then, everything has been compared to that delightful flavor of akita.

...I'm sure this is actually the first time ever in the wide world of the internet that someone wrote over 600 words of short essay of explanation on how he was depicted licking a stallion.

 

Oh Akita, you sleazy stallion. You clearly stepped closer to Key Gear to be licked better, so you're still at fault here.

 

On the art itself, it's perfect. You did a damn good job portraying a sleep-deprived mare. Tho I still don't understand how could a pony carry a cup of coffee that way while walking to deliver it.

Hahaha, that was so funny and yet the licking actually looks really adorable xD call me a freak but I do think it does kinda...

 

Anyways, I'll believe your whole story... for now...

 

Great artwork btw Akita, I haven't seen any of your artwork in a bit, but this certainly makes up for it, its really well done .
