My Little Pony RPG - Request for help

Well, after reading this thread: http://mlpforums.com...ake-a-mlp-game/

 

It seems that quite a few would want to see a MLP Themed RPG.

 

Now I won't be able to do it on my own, ( I just suck at writing and pixel art ) but with the help of you all who are willing to see this come to light it should be feasible.

 

 

I was thinking of using RPG Maker XP ( or VX, am still undecided they have both their pros and cons ) to make the game, so it would be nothing professional, especially graphic wise. But that should not matter, after all, having fun in a game, could mean following a great plot, having an awesome battle and things like this.

 

 

So things we would need:

 

-Willing ponies to help do pixel art.

-Ponies to write a great plot! ( Story )

-Free Time!

 

I am familiar with mostly RPG Maker XP, it is a fun program to use, and even if my creations wouldn't make me famous I had a blast at creating them.

 

 

 

 

 

What do you think? Yay? Or Neigh? Is this a good Idea? Do you already have an Idea what kind of scenario you would want to play should you incarnate the mane 6? Post it!

 

 

 

 

UPDATE 14/2/12

 

 

We are currently six to work on this project, which seems to be quite enough to handle, so I don't think I will take any pony else except an artist into the team.

 

Will post updates soon! ( And yep we are working on it, and it seems promising. )

Cool! Although I wouldn't to make you do all this all on your own, and I think, talking about trailers/webpages and all that is bit early, but thanks for the support! Do you have already an Idea what kind of story? ( Perhaps post it here so we can all inspire each other )

I would love to help with the story and such(sadly I never used RPG maker before or made pixels to make custum playerso i cant help there actualy i am not sure i can help inthe story either but i'll try to think of something)

I've got a plot in mind.

 

The castle Celestia resides in sits still under the light of the moon, seeming like a perfect night.

Suddenly, a dark shadow jumps from tree to tree, getting closer to the castle.

One it reaches the wall, the shadowed figure climbs up to the top of the side of the castle into the room where the Elements of harmony reside.

We see a dark silhouet of the figures face smiling evil at the orbs, taking each of the elements one by one.

The figure escapes without a sound, leaving the quiet room.

Basiaclly, a theif steals the elements and sells them to evil beings around equestria (Such as the diamond dogs, gilda, etc.)

 

It is your job as the mane 6 to get the elements back.

 

Cliche, I know, but it is just a plot I pulled out of my plot (SeewhatIdidthere?)

Now now, of course I know Equestria Online, although Equestria Online is: "Equestria Online is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing"

 

where as what I had in mind, ( and think is more feasible at this scale ) is a simple RPG ( Role Playing Game ) You know, similar to pokemon? ( Did you check out RPG Maker XP? You would have seen that it does not allow you to make Multiplayer games. )

 

 

And another thing, just because it has been made doesn't mean you can't make it too? It will be different, it will have your signature, and at least once you did something.

Cool Idea! I like the whole "Search the elements." part. It gives you a reason why they are going to these places, and a story to act upon to!

I like this start and how about if the elements got corrupted byt the persons they are sold too like diamond dogs get the element of generosity and making it the element of greed gilda getting loyalty and making it the element of betrayal and stuff. The bads can join up to do something bad(yes i havent though that far yet) and the mane 6 now very underpowered having enemies with elements have to find a way to prevail and uncorrupt the elements afterwards

I mean like you could throw in so many easter eggs into the game, such as-

Vinyl Scratch

 

Etc.

I would like to extend a hoof to sign onto this job. I have extensive experience with all things RPG maker, i've had alot of practice with every version. I can make art (Not amazing, but pretty good) But more properly i'm quite good at writing (I've been a regularly practicing dungeon master for 12 years, have my entire own campaign setting) and i'm fairly good at coding with the system. (Created day to night systems, custom leveling interfaces, etc.)

I would love to help with your rpg, it would help take my mind of off things as of late.

Well, if we would follow the path, it would make kind of a sense. The elements as we know them, need to be all together to work, but they are incredibly powerful. ( Kind of like Exodia ) And now that they have been split and turned, they can be used alone, but are a lot less powerful in everything except the part they excel in. ( Like Greed would make Animals that are normally peaceful long for your food, and you have to defend yourself )

Oh, of course! I thought you meant the mane 6 or something ^^. Well I'm sure they could play a part in each of their respective place. ( I already imagine an Underground Vinyl Scratch, giving you information about the element that had passed by not so long ago. )

I thought about that, but the thing is, we saw in the show that if they are not re-united the elements just don't work... but Gameplay wise this would be awesome, and perhaps we could even close an eye on that fact and implement it anyway

I can see where you're coming from, and i agree that in the show they do not work unless united, and we could keep it that way, but there should be some sort of special items that give bonuses when collected. It keeps the game spiced up, and from getting boring too quickly, between the story segments.

I wrote this:

 

Picture of Canterlot at night-changes to a black silouet staring it from a clif nearby.

We follow the pony now gameplay gaphics walking toward the castle then entering inside from a window. The pony walk goes upstair avoiding the guards and reaches the magic protected door with the elemens inside.. Screen flashes like a spell was cast.

*Finally after so many months I found a way to break this accursed spell from this door. Now nothing can stand in my way.*

Door slam sound

*Stop right there* Guard one

*You are under arrestt* Guard two

Fight commence we control the guards battle tutoriial but the enemy will win no matter what she wont attack at all and after tutorial end she will say pitiful and unleash a 1 hit KO spell

Back to the map

*Pathetic* Shadow figure

*You ... wont ..get ..away* Guard one

*Oh you will fin that I already did* Flash again and guars are dead. bodies vanished.

*Now to end this*

Shadow figure enters the room and finds the chest with the elemets in it

*Finally I can finally fulfil my destiny haha..haha.Mwahahhahah*

My faithful student please we need you and the elements to save Equestria once more this time probably from the biggest danger it has ever been in What is written above happened the previous night and we may already be too late

So will we actually do it? cause we never said a yes or no because I am actually coming with a pretty good script for it I was thinking about a story all day long today

Yes, we are already doing one! Although we have already someone who is working the script I am sure that you can work together!
