he chuckled, "Being comfortable to curl up with is a skill you know."

Joan cocked her her head to one side.

"What's so funny? I'm trying to be-"

What? Romantic?

Well, that was one way of putting it.

Biologically speaking anyway.

"Trying my best over here.", she finished, trying desperately fighting back the blush threatening to creep up her neck.

"Nothing." Asnee tried to stifle his laugh and find a polite way to say what was in his mind, but he couldn't come up with anything. "I was just very happy because you... want... well..." - he ended up blushing again - "you know," he said as he stroke Joan's mane and planted a kiss on it. A moment later he found his hoof moved behind her neck and pulled her into a hug, burying her face on his neck as she used to do.

"you know,"

Joan grinned and pricked Asnee's neck slightly with one canine.

"Okay, scratch that gentlecolt bit. You're just as bad as all the other colts."

She brought her mouth up to his ear and lowered her voice to a whisper, still keeping her eyes closed..

"It's 742 steps up  to my quarters. Think you got that in you, Master Hooves?"

Asnee did feel Joan's canine on his neck, but showed no sign of respond. He closed his eyes and let her whisper echoed in his ears for a while, enjoying how the wind it caused blew before answering, "They don't call me 'master' for no reason."

Asnee pulled his head and stared at Joan with a hazy worry on his expression, "I can handle that, but... are you sure about binding me?"

Jam walked up the steps of the grand mansion, and went inside. She tried to hold her head high, as she had seen many noble ponies do, but she quickly lowered her head. She took in her surroundings, marveling at the giant hall, and the beautiful ponies. She felt so out of place. She was just a small-town jam-maker, after all. She quietly tried to put on the airs of a Canterlot noble, but her natural Appleloossan accent always seemed to creep through. She looked around, trying to find a friendly face that she could talk to, but to no avail. She resigned herself to the fact that she would probably be spending the rest of the night alone.

"I can handle that, but... are you sure about binding me?"

Joan hooked both winglclaws into Asnee's collar and pulled him close, putting her nuzzle back next to his ear.

"If you're into that sort of thing", she purred, feeling herself grinning from ear to ear.

"Otherwise, I'll probably let you go in time for you to get to work."

"Otherwise, I'll probably let you go in time for you to get to work."

Asnee smiled and looked back at Joan's neck. He couldn't find the right way to answer without making him looked so wishy-washy, but actually he was interested in it. Couldn't come up with an idea, he pulled his head back and placed a quick kiss on her lips. "That's my answer."

Asnee felt a strange feeling in his throat, and he guessed it was caused by Joan's beverage. He glanced at the table, "I want to get some drink. You want some?"

"I want to get some drink. You want some?"

Joan fell in step with Asnee, barely avoiding pair of ponies waltzing past.

"First you get me all excited and now you're off to drink? You certainly know how to show a mare a good time."

To her disappointment, someone seemed to have helped themselves to the remaining locustmuffins.

"Sorry. Just a quick sip." Asnee carefully stepped back and turned around to fetch a glass of beverage he was too lazy to identify as. He felt slightly stressed by the must of giving Joan a good night and the fear of making her bored. He gobbled a greedy sip he promised and cared another glass for the mare before walking back to her.

"I thought you would enjoy one," Asnee said as he hoofed the glass to Joan.

"I thought you would enjoy one," Asnee said as he hoofed the glass to Joan.

Joan accepted the glass, trying in vain to keep herself from grinning.

"You know, we're kinda past the point, where you have to get me drunk."

She downed the glass' content without looking and coughed as the alcohol burned in her throat.

"Sweet Luna above, what is that?"

"Sweet Luna above, what is that?"

Asnee panicked inside but tried his best to stay calm as possible. The stress grew even more, winding his head to the point where he could feel the pain physically. He didn't know what went wrong. It didn't taste so bad when he tried it a minute ago, or did he take it from the wrong bowl?

"S-sorry. I-I..." - Asnee looked around for another drink, but his minds was too messy and he was very afraid if he got another wrong drink - "Y-you okay?" He gave up and waited for anything might come, looking down with face as pale as a dead pony. He couldn't even count how many times he messed things up that night.

"Y-you okay?"

"Apart from my coltfriend slipping me what I can only assume to be some sort armor polish, yeah."

She laughed when Asnee expression: He looked like a culprit awaiting his sentence.

"Oh, relax, you'll get wrinkles, if keep up the worried face all the time."

She cocked her head to one side.

"Or actually don't, I bet you'll look really good once you get some wrinkles and grey streaks."

Walking up the steps to the huge mansion where she was going to this Ball of some sort she already regrets getting talked into this.

"Ugg, how did I let my brother rope me into this? He knows how much I hate canterlot yet he still insists I come to this. How is is he can live here with these posh ponies." Making it to the mansion she enters in to see all the space the place has. "Wow, this place is huge." Getting a quick look around Charcoal notices that a few of the pilars are starting to crack a little bit. "Hmm, this could be bad if not fixed. Maybe I'll tell someone about it later. Well might as well look around a bit, at least now my mother can stop pestering me about waering this dress."

He walks in the door, making sure his uniform was in prefect condition. He looks around the room he is in, sighing. "Why do I even come to these things..." With one last adjustment of his hat, he heads to a bar, ordering a drink and sitting down at a table. "At least I can enjoy myself while i'm here."

After walking around for a time she eventually ends up at some ort of bar.

Well... I don't usually drink much, but maybe it will make this night go faster. Walking over to the bar she sits next to a pony that seems to be a little out of place in that uniform of his.

@,

"Nice uniform you got there. You don't come to stuff like this often do you? I can imagine if you did you would at least have a suit laying around."

Asnee couldn't believe himself thinking that Joan was actually joking. She had the weirdest kind of personalities he had ever confronted. He blinked and glared quickly to calm his forehead muscles, slightly shook his head after that. He stepped closer and dived his face into her shoulder. Eyes closed, he enjoyed how the tension on his face faded out as he rested on Joan, just like how she usually did, "I didn't know it feels this good."

@@Charcoal Embers,

He looks at her, putting his drink down, "Thank you, I don't really enjoy parties and all that, and if I did, I still wouldn't be at a lot of them." He takes a sip of his drink before returning to the pony. "My name is Wind Stream, and you are who ma'am?" As he finishes talking he takes his hat off and puts it on the table.

Before answering Charcoal orders some wine to drink, then turns to Wind. "Oh no need to be so formal, I'm just here because my younger brother convinced me to. But anyway, my name is Charcoal Embers, it's a pleasure to meet you. Why is it that you wouldn't come even if you did like parties?"

"Well, I wish I got out of work more, but some how I have to pay for food." He says, taking a drink some of it. "Why did you leave your job as a guard, boring, not paying so much?" He looks at her, waiting for a response from her. "Because it pays up here in this city, if you ever think about joining up again."

"It's, complicated. If you don't mind, I really don't feel like talking about it right now. But right now I work as a builder, just about anything that uses a blueprint I can build by memory. As long as I have seen it before of course. While I don't actually work for the guard, I do get paid a good sum for making weapons and armor for them."
