a group of humans were selected to travel through the portal to equestria, to see what was at the other end, to see if it would be full of life or a barren wasteland, and that question was answered quickly, at the end of the portal the humans emerged and saw a town full of ponies, sentient,talking ponies they were quickly seen and -

There's some really good fan fictions out there, that doesn't depict Humans as Humans Are Bastards like (warning clopfic) Gentleman For Mares. 

 

But there's also fan fictions that represent all of Humanity as nothing but xenocidal monsters that invade Equestria to kill them all, because "Humans Are Bastards".
