Tribute to Derpy Hooves.

Hey all, I put this together in honor of Derpy Hooves, one of my fav's. featuring various art by Bronies but video editing by me.

 

It hasn't even had that many views yet, but I kind of got into a huge conversation with an 'anti brony' guy in PM's over this... Saying that Derpy was "offensive" and an insult to retarded people. It ended ok as i tried to respect his pov but pointed out he should also respect mine and I stayed cool about it so think he's ok with me now....

 

So... anyways, what are your thoughts about it? My Vid shows her as "amazing" and accepted just the way she is, not as offensive or worthy of being rejected and ousted from the show. Kind of ironic that the ''offended" people thought that about her.

 

I'd love to see a future show where the main cast accept her just the way she is! Why can't Hasbro do that? There is so much potential here to show true unconditional acceptance.

It never came to mind it was offensive to retarded people. She likes muffins. She's crazy for muffins. How does that make it direct to retarded people? It doesn't. If maybe she didn't like muffins then maybe but, it's not offensive. 

 

I also think it would be awesome to make a whole show about Derpy Hooves. Like basically make new characters, new home town, new storyline etc. It should be called The Muffin Show.

i think the team did a great job at making a uniqe character. i have no idea why people would consider derpy to be offensive to people with certain disability's.  if you are trying so hard to get MLP look bad that you are getting those people involved, then you are the only one that should be looked upon as offending.

They will one stop watching it. Two they will give My Little Pony bad ratings. So Derpy Hooves has crossed eyes and is clumsy. Retarded people have crossed eyes, can not function as well as normal children can and sometimes when they get angry they throw things around or break things. Nuff said.

I hate that people get offended by Derpy Hooves because she apparently is making fun of retarded people. Just because she is crossed-eyed does not mean she is making fun of retarded people; it's just a visual that represents that she is ditsy. Lots of cartoons have done this before to better emphasize a character's clumsiness, absent-mindedness, ditsyness, etc.

Well yeah, Disney's Goofy is a classic example of a character who acts.... well goofy! But no one is offended by him. Nor did he get deleted.

 

From what i gathered from this guy who PMed me on youtube, it wasn't so much my vid, but the way Derpy was portrayed on MLP that offended people, but what I also figured out, is that he wasn't really that upset about Derpy offending retarded people, he was more upset at Bronies in general. Derpy, was the excuse to have a go at the fandom.

 

So anyways, it's clear to me that people take a five minute segment with out looking at the bigger picture of how much Derpy is loved despite her "faults" and that's actually true for ALL the MLP characters as they all display vices and are loved for the anyway. Be nice if these Anti bronies could learn that lesson!

Hey thanks, I didn't do the actual artwork,  but it did take ages to put the pic's in the right order to go with the lyrics and make it all come together. Took HOURS actually and I'm fairly pleased with the results.

 

BTW I do draw, but just haven't had a chance to really upload anything MLP related yet.
