The Golden Age of Equestria is fully underway. Steam powered ships of air and water are all the rage, allowing all ponies to boldly where only the pegasi and the mythical merponies could go before. Soon, piracy takes hold, as the captains of said ships take to fierce battles in sky and water for glory. Yes, for some it is a good time.

However, a new airship approaches the land from the South, a mysterious one filled with creatures the likes of which Equestria has never seen-the Clockwork Lady. Some of the most ruthless and intelligent compose this group of criminals who plan to take Equestria as their own and turn it into their home. Through brute force, they also manage to procure themselves a submarine, allowing them to patrol both sea and air.

The citizens of Equestria decide to fight back, refusing the access of these ruthless scallywags, and the Royal Fleet takes to the air and sea to stop them. However, it’s a game of hit and run, as they are taken on a whirlwind ride to the northern and southern lands, forced to chase the Clockwork Lady and all those who follow her.

---

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Clockwork Lady, an action adventure roleplay where you can choose to be on the side of the Royals or the pirates.

Each team will be divided into groups of three or four, depending on the amount of people we have; you may decide between airship or submarine, on either side. Each will have a captain responsible for the welfare of the rest of the crew.

In order to keep with realism, all ships need to stop to fuel every so often, as well as have their crew members treated by medics. You also require food and general supplies such as tools.

Rules:

Rules are as follows:

  1. You may have a non-pony OC, of course, but dragons and alicorns are forbidden. I will accept any other species. I would encourage their use, really-allows the groups to have an interesting feel!
  2. No Mary/Gary Sue’s! You’re either a cutthroat pirate or part of a military, it wouldn’t make much sense.
  3. You must roleplay at least two characters, no more than that. If you want three, please ask, and I will evaluate your OC’s.
  4. If you are the Captain of a ship, please look to me for direction rather than taking off too much on your own. You do have some free reign, but I don’t want you to take over.
  5. On that note, always listen to the DM.
  6. Please try not to be too OP. I will ask you to dumb it down if you get out of hand.
  7. No more than five posts a day, unless I say otherwise. (I’m fairly busy, and I can’t be on at all times.)
  8. You can injure other players or capture them, but not kill them. If you are injured you must report to the medic and will be unable to fight to your full capacity for a short while.
  9. Romance is fine, but nothing inappropriate, and don’t let it control you or the rest of the roleplay. In addition, profanity and gore are allowed, but not in excess, and keep it to taste-no racial slurs, etc.
  10. Personal connections to canon characters is forbidden (you cannot be besties with the Princesses, that’s a bit Mary Sue-esque, and this is before the events of MLP, so it’s impossible anyways for anyone else.)

Character Creation:

Now, when making your character, I ask that you provide a short paragraph (seven to ten sentences) on their backstory for this RP, as well as a link to their character page. Each character starts with one weapon; as the RP progresses, you can steal or purchase weapons and have up to three at a time, though you will only be able to use two (imagine you leave the third onboard the ship or something.)

All ships are equipped with weaponry; cannons on the airships and torpedoes on the submarines. Please keep in mind that handheld weapons are all the same power levels, and even if your character wears armour all levels will be treated the same. NPC’s may have a better armour to make it more interesting, though.

Okay, so without further ado, here are the slots available!

PIRATES:

The Clockwork Lady-Airship

  1. Captain-PinkieDaShy-Pluse
  2. First Mate-Hypno-Hypno
  3. Member One
  4. Member Two/Medic-Power Ten-K-Bar

The Clockwork Lord-Submarine

  2. First Mate
  3. Member One-Hypno-Rufus

  4. Member Two/Medic

Selene-Submarine

  1. Captain
  2. First Mate-PinkieDaShy-TBA

ALEX KENNEDY IS A RESERVE

As I said, there will be two characters per person, so it will have eight possible slots in total. Feel free to mix between the Royal and pirate ships so you can experience both sides! The only thing is you cannot have two captain spots or two first mate spots. I would also appreciate it if you took only one, though I cannot enforce this.

Dice System:

We will be using a dice system to determine wins and losses as well as several other factors. I would hope that everyone will be honourable and not cheat to their advantage; if I feel you are too lucky too often, I will roll numbers for you.

The dice system is mostly geared towards combat; however, when the battle is over, you are able to roll for special bonuses.

Combat Dice:

While in combat…

One

1. A rolled one means a miss, and you take damage.

Example: Pluse rushed the guard, swiping her claws, but missed him as he sidestepped her wild attack neatly. He managed to get a cut on her side as she tried to rectify her mistake.

Two

2. A rolled two means a block (if they are attacking you) or a small hit, but you take damage.

Example of Block: The guard moved towards Pluse and swung his sword, but she held up her makeshift driftwood club and barely blocked it as the wood split. He took the opportunity to jab down, and even though she rolled the sword grazed her painfully.

Example of Small Hit: Speeding forwards, Pluse managed to get a small swipe in at the guard, making his shoulder bleed a little. As she made a move to escape he was able to punch her and knock her down.

Three

3. A rolled three means a slightly higher attack and damage.

Example: Though Pluse had cornered the guard, he had a bow, which he fired swiftly. The arrow managed to stick slightly before it snapped off, leaving the head inside. Despite this she continued her relentless charge and got him in the eye.

Four

4. A rolled four means you are able to momentarily heal yourself in some way.

Example: The guard staggered back from Pluse after her last attack, and she was able to pull the arrowhead out of her leg and held her paw over it to staunch the blood flow. By the time the guard was ready and staggered towards her to continue the fight, she felt slightly less woozy despite the stiffness.

Five

5. A rolled five means you get a critical blow on a NPC and a powerful stagger attack on a player (basically, they are momentarily forced backwards.)

Example: Pluse leaped onto the guards back, making him rear, but she managed to hold on and get him with her dagger. Despite missing his neck, he was still wounded, and began to stagger a little.

Six

6. You get a fatal blow on an NPC and you win the fight with a player. (If you roll a six too early, just roll again-try to let the fight last a little bit. :-p)

Example: …I think you guys get this one.

Ship-fighting runs on a similar scale, but it won’t happen too often, so don’t worry about it; it’s mostly going to be PvP.

Other Dice (Ship Repair, Bonuses, Prisoners, and How To Win a Fight)

In order to win the fight, at the DM’s discretion, everyone rolls and adds up their total for their team. Whoever has the higher score wins the battle. Then the DM (to keep it honest) will roll a ship damage number for both teams.

The ship damage number will constitute how much needs to be repaired on your ship. Don’t worry, repairs won’t hinder you; just stop in the nearest port and it’ll be done shortly. This allows you to interact with others on land.

The scale of ship damage is thus:

1-2. Very little damage to no damage; no major repair needed.

3-4. You have some damage done; it is recommended you dock right away, or your ship will cease to function.

5-6. If you don’t land right away you will crash.

In addition, the winners of the battle will get to roll bonuses! Yaaaay. (If you get the same bonus more than once after battles, roll until you get a different bonus.)  Everyone gets to roll one and take it from the enemy ship.

  1. Medical supplies.
  2. Food.
  3. Fuel.
  4. Tools.
  5. A pack filled with food, fuel, and medical supplies.
  6. A new weapon (if you already have three, you can choose to switch your current weapon and get a new one or stick with your current roster. If you only have one or two, you get a new one.)

The final thing is the ability to take prisoners; if the total amount rolled by a team exceeds 22, you are able to take a member of the opposite side from the battle hostage. Keep in mind that they are able to escape by rolling a four; if they don’t roll that number, they are your hostage until they are broken out by another team or they escape.

It may seem overly complicated, but once you get used to it it won’t be! In fact, this gives it more a game of chance feel, and while it lets you have total creativity in conversation it allows you to settle fights fairly. :3

World:

In the world you are in, there are three main lands; the northern province, Gogallt, the southern province, Decarth, and then Equestria (commonly called Addotir by the foreigners). There are also floating cities and underwater cities.

Don’t worry about Decarth and Gogallt; you won’t be going there (much). The main place is Addotir. I will be drawing a map for you later on, but for now all you need to know is that there is one underwater port, on sky port, and four land ports in Addotir. You can travel from port to port; there are different locales to visit, including markets where you can get supplies, and taverns where you can get gossip. :3

So that’s it! I hope that people are interested so I didn’t waste forever writing this out for you all. XD I think it will prove very interesting, and I hope we can get friendly.

Goodbye, and hope to see ya soon!

Cheers,

~PDS

Hypno - First Mate of Pirate Airship.

Starting Weapon - Poison Dipped Scimitar.

http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/hypno-r837

Hypno lived in the Everfree Forest as an outcast because he was hunted by the Equestrian Guard for his nature. He eventually had his shelter raided by the guards and fled from Equestria itself, but not before he slowly hunted down every single guard that had attacked him one by one. With his new-found bloodlust he ended up becoming a bounty hunter for the time being in the lowly place he lived after leaving Equestria. He was eventually permanently hired by the Clockwork Lady's pirate gang and worked himself up the spot of First Mate over time in his years of service.

Rufus - Member One of Pirate Submarine.

Starting Weapon - Jagged Edge Claymore.

http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/rufus-rex-r2286

Rufus grew up and left his pack of fellow Diamond Dogs at an early age. In his travels explosives and weaponry always interested him and he became a blacksmith, demolitionist and engineer in the town he settled in. Later on he grew a taste for getting more extreme and grew a name for himself as an explosive expert and large weapons enthusiast. He began to work as a hired mercenary and eventually fell into the Clockwork Lady's pirate gang. He was put in the roll of Armorer and Mechanic for the submarine he was placed and grew to love his job.

Star Cloud - Captain of Royal Airship

Starting Weapon - Customized Flintlock

http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/star-cloud-r3716

Due to the skies and seas being infested with Pirates, Star was eventually drafted into the navy for the time being. Even though he wasn't that adept in the seas or air, he became First Mate rather quickly as he adapted to his new surroundings. His vast magical knowledge proved useful to the crew over time. And he acts as a adviser for most on the vessel and a magical trainer in time when there is no fighting around.

For the most part: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/k-bar-r295

I'm changing her backstory.  Abandoned by her parents at birth because of her bat-like appearance, K-Bar was orphaned and raised in Manehattan by an old doctor.  As K-Bar got older, the doctor taught her many tricks of medicine and surgery, and K-Bar took a great interest in surgery.  The old doctor passed several years later in his sleep, forcing K-Bar to live in the streets and beg for scraps to get by.  Soon enough, the need for food outweighed K-Bar's morals and she began doing jobs for the many gangs operating in Manehattan.  Her practice in surgery had also given her skills in other uses for knives, and K-Bar used those skills to do hits for the gangs.  After a "misunderstanding" with a powerful mob boss that ended in a slit throat, K-Bar had to flee far south to evade the heat.  Desperate for work, she signed on to a pirate air vessel where she became the newest member before the ship headed north for Equestria.  The several years of murders have damaged her psyche and made her rather volatile, and she is prone to outbursts of violence if provoked.

Medical Specialist K-Bar of the Clockwork Lady.

Weapon: Knives, lots of knives.  Think of a big pile of knives, then double the size of that pile.  That's how many knives K-Bar owns.  But for this adventure, she'll sport a foot-long serrated combat knife, as well as an assortment of smaller knives for "surgery"

Haven't quite fleshed out my Captain of the Royal Airship yet..  He'll be a Captain Ahab of sorts in his hatred of the pirates.

@@Power Ten@,

All right, well, whenever you're ready...this RP may take a while to start anyways, so take your time. (But not too much time. XD)

Both of you are added to the list!

Making a new OC got to be too much work, so I'm going to use the last one I made instead, since he hasn't been used yet anyway. Of course this means nothing to any of you except possibly PDS, and even then, I'm not sure why I bothered to mention it.

For the crew member on the pirate airship: Scurry Ditch

Backstory: Raised by a small pack of Diamond Dogs in the mountains, he left at a fairly young age because he never really got along with others of his kind. Sadly, he quickly found that he didn't get along with most ponies, either, as they tended to abuse his gullibility and lack of intelligence, not to mention discriminating against him because of his race. After being falsely accused of stealing jewels several times, he turned to a life of piracy almost out of spite, quickly finding that his strength and courage served him well in his new trade. Furthermore, he felt more comfortable among pirates than he ever had before, perhaps because most pirates are outcasts in their own way.

(I'd like to point out that while he's kind of stupid by pony standards, Scurry is pretty smart for a diamond dog, one of the reasons he never fit in among them.)

Weapon: Can he have some sort of techno-gauntlets that enhance his strength? Like maybe with some sort of pistons to make him punch with more force or something steampunky like that? Otherwise he'd probably just use his bare hands (claws, paws, whatever diamond dogs have).

For the captain of the royal submarine: Gladius

Backstory: Gladius knew he would be in the military his entire life. His family has served the equestrian armed forces for as far back as they can trace their lineage. His entire childhood was spent doing little more than preparing for the day when he would take up arms for his country. He graduated from the Equestrian Naval Academy near the top of his class, and by the time he received his first captaincy, he was already widely regarded as one of the most skilled swordsmen in the entire army. This, combined with his unshakeable devotion and loyalty, quickly earned him the respect of his superiors, and he soon found himself as one of the leaders of the operation to hunt down the mysterious pirates from the south. The only downside to this is that Gladius has been made captain of a submarine, when previously he had only sailed on ordinary ships. If he were to be quite honest, he would have to admit that the prospect of being sealed in a giant metal can underwater was rather unnerving, but for his country, he will do anything.

Weapon: A... well, a gladius (roman short sword), actually. I'll probably add some sort of steampunky features to it, but I can't think of anything in particular at the moment.

You are accepted, of course, Alex (I mean, I did ask you to join. XD)

SInce I am using my mother's crap laptop, I cannot add you to the Character List just yet, but your spots are in reserve for you anyways.

We now have four players, we only need four more (so eight characters total.)

We still need a captain for the Royal airship; if no one takes it I will move from first mate of the Royal submarine to the first mate or captain of Celestine.

The Clockwork Lady is full now, so there's one down. If no one else joins within the next few days, I will add a third character to my roster, and anyone who wants to may do the same.

If you know anyone who may be interested in this material, please refer them to this.

Thank you everyone! It will start in two days or so, depending, as I need to update Pluse's backstory and then decided if I will use Cas or Seirian, or a new character because both of them would probably be bad under a higher authority.

I do believe I already laid claim to the airship captain spot. Just finishing the OC after my physics final. He'll be a human from a small tribe way in the south. Pirates destroyed his village and killed his people. He fled to equestria and joined the ranks of Celestia's army. Years of dedicated service and dexterity found only in human fingers, he was awarded the rank of captain.

I'll add more later

He's captain of the submarine, not the airship. It shouldn't be a problem.

Also, please don't use a human character. This is not a crossover. You can use anything else besides a dragon or an alicorn. Humans aren't generally accepted at all, I didn't feel I had to mention that. :x

Listen well, kiddies.

Since it appears no more signups are going to happen, I'm going to cut ship crews back to three and have everyone play as three characters.

If you don't like this, we can do two characters and only have airships or only submarines. Which is better?

Any other ideas are appreciated.

@,

That's fine by me. I finished the OC I had intended to add originally, so three characters per person is no problem for me.

I'm willing to do three characters. Besides I wanted to have a Royal character too anyways.

Even though the preferred Role would be captain. I think they're both taken. So I'll nab up the role of Celestial Airship First Mate if that's possible?

Anyways, I'll start making the character sheet.

I'll just edit my first post.

I will be starting the roleplay very soon. I'm kicking you out, Ten, since you haven't posted in ages; as a result, we will just have to do airships because there isn't nearly enough players now, which is a pity. We can do three characters each but that would make each team uneven, so...dunno what to do there. I suppose I could just roleplay as two if you want to do three.

I'll post my characters later. I am still captain of the Pirate airship and I will be the medic of the second.

Oh, dear, yes, that should be okay. That can bring us back up to having the three characters and then having, as a result, all the ships.

Before you post your characters just let me update the ships and alter them a little.
