[The Elusive Cinder 1,328]

((The thing about Redwave?He's not trying to steal credit: he genuinely thinks that he is that great and the Silver was just getting in the way. All of my characters have some kind of fatal flaw and his is... well... pretty obvious. ))
 
((Also, too many feels coming from this RP. Needs moar dragonz.)) 
 

  
"I really need to find some herbs and metals..." Cinder narrated to herself: since partaking in her binge of dangerous chemicals to try and combat the lethargy that the forest had inflicted upon her, she had been having trouble keeping her thoughts inside her own head. "Anything really, Give me a few things to test and ten minutes... Boom! Cinders and Ashes!"

 

'Cinder, your talking out loud again.'

 

She glanced around, Red and Minty were pretty far behind her - nopony seemed to have noticed.

 

'Not a problem, everypony is busy' she thought. 'I can think about whatever I like!"

"Okay, that is quite fine Minty, if you don't wish to speak of yourself then far be it for one such as I to force you."

 

He went back to walking in silence - wondering how long it would be until he was finally off of solid land again.

Minty nodded. "But we're still friends, for sure, Redwave." Minty said, trotting away. The tears remained in her eyes as she found a tree to lay against. 

 

(( OOC: Don't worry. Got the "Dragonz" thing covered. I might start up another fight. Hint hint, Mike. I think Silver should try to comfort Minty and get mad at Redwave or something. Hope that's okay with you, Cinder. xD I think this needed more action anyway.OR Redwave could hear her thinking out loud or.. something. ))

Impetus bangs his head against a tree a few times, picks up a stick, and then starts playing tic-tac-toe against himself in an intense duel of wits. As it turns out, Impetus defeats himself and reigns as the local tic-tac-toe champion of himself.

 

Yep, Impetus is bored.

"I wonder what would happen if I mixed Sulphuric Acid with Dragons breath?" Cinder thought aloud. "Wow, thats a terribly dangerous idea..."

 

She paused for a moment, looking concerned before breaking into the vague, self aware smile again. "Wow, thats a great idea!"

 

'You know Cinder, thinking works just as well when you don't describe every little detail of your experiments to the wildlife.'

 

She rambled on like this for several minutes until something caught her eye over in the distance.

 

"Oh, hey, whats that? Looks like some kind of cave." She looked forlornly down at the now mostly empty bottles she was carrying before her face lit up. "I bet theres all kinds of stuff in there!"

 

She was curious, but she wasn't stupid. Glancing around she tried to pick out anypony who was likely to come with her. Silver and Red were still being themselves, so they were out of the question. Lyona probably wouldnt have time for detours and 'Blaze...

 

Cinder wasn't sure she wanted to be separated from the group with 'Blaze. She did, however, notice two ponies who looked like they could use stretching their legs.

 

"Hey! Impetus!" she waved, using his correct name. "Minty!"

At the mention of cave, Minty dashed over there. Well, not dashed. More of flew. "A cave?! We should go!" Minty squealed. She hasn't had a sense of adventure in a while. "Let's go!" She tugged on Cinder's hoof.

Minty flew over to Impetus. "You're bored, right? We're going on an adventureeee."

'' I wonder where they are off to, they must be having fun I guess. I'll just be here all alone.''

 

Fireblaze jumped behind a bush of berries, going behind a bear but very sneaky. She thought to her herself, that if she kills the bear she will be able to enjoy those berries.

 

Going behind the bear with a machete in her hoof, putting the machete up to the bear's neck choking the bear out with the machete. Cracking it's neck, severing the head and neck. '' Time for some berries.''

 

Grabs a handful of berries in her hooves, eating some along the way and putting the machete away.

"Come on, either of you!"

 

Something was making her more confident in herself... She wasn't certain if she liked it, but there it was. Maybe she hadn't fully slept off the effects of the Energy mixtures...

 

"Minty! Come on! Leave Blunderhoof if he's too busy playing with sticks!"

Minty got up, and uttered out a "Uh, okay." She turned around to find Redwave. "Um, Redwave..? Are you coming?" she asked Redwave as she saw him lying down on the grass. She poked his hoof. "Hey. Are you alive?" Minty asked jokingly. She flew off to follow Cinder as she headed for the cave. "C'mon!" she said to Cinder as she grabbed her by her hooves and flew there.

"Oh, hey, flying!" Cinder commented excitedly as they flew through the air, not given enough time to pull off the facehoof she had intended to when Minty had shouted for Redwave to come with them.

'What in the name of...' Redwave wondered as the fragile little mare carried off the dusty looking one.

 

Looking around, he noted that nopony else seemed to be following them.

 

"Once again, t'is left to the captain. Typical. Ah well, such is the life of a hero." He muttered with a grin as he followed the unusual pair of mares.

Minty dropped Cinder when they got inside the cave. "Wow.." Minty gawped as she looked at the cave. There were literally icicles on the ceiling but Minty was completely oblivious to the fact that it was cold. "Water!" Minty flew down to the water, and poked her hoof in the water. "Cinder, we have water!"

"Look at this please... Great!" Cinder chirped. "Hey, looks a lot cleaner than the river... Deep though." she said, circling the edge at a distance.

 

She wasn't a fan of water... but this pool was just so crystal clear she couldn't take her eyes off it.

"Now where did those two fillies get to, the elusive mares?" Redwave spoke aloud as he hacked through the foliage to follow the path that the mares had flown.

Once Redwave arrived, Minty was poking her injured hoof in the water. "It's actually healing! It's healing!" Minty squealed to Cinder. "C'mon, let's swim!!" Minty said excitedly, jumping in, hoof in hoof with Cinder. "Woohoo!"

"MINT..." Cinder gargled as she submerged before breaking the surface. "Minty I..." she gasped before realizing that she wasn't drowning. She could swim after all. "Huh, It's quite pleasant actually."

Redwind chuckled to himself watching Minty and the... no longer dusty mare bob about in the water - it was a nice change of pace from the tension of the group.

 

"I trust that the two of you are enjoying yourselves?" He smiled, sitting by the pool and looking back and forth between the mares, reaching down to drink some of the water. "An unusual circumstance, It's sweet."

Minty smiled but then looked at a sign to the right of her. "The Magic Mirror Pond." Minty read out loud. "Cinder, Redwave, I don't think we're supposed to be here.." Minty said unsure. Minty looked around at the shimmering water, and then got out. Under the sign was some words engraved in the concrete-like ground. "To clone--" she started to read but was cut off with a face of utter shock.

"The magical who what now?" Cinder babbled, enjoying swimming for the first time in a good number of years. "Give me a hoof!" she said, approaching the edge.

"Redwave's got you darling, come on..." The white stallion declared as he reached down into the pool. "Up... you come, all okay?" 

 

It was the mare who had called him his cousins name.

 

"Alright then, Minty, what hidden treasures and secrets did you find? Has the most beautiful of pegasi found the solution to our problems with the forest?"

Minty blushed deeply. "Uh, it says this on the ground:

and solemnly sweared not to be scared

and the prospect of being doubly mared.

 

What does that mean--" Minty began to say, but then saw another Minty come out of the mirror pond. "AAH!" Minty screamed, backing away.

Walking around in a circle, worried about the others.

 

'' I am so worried about what happened to Minty, Cinder, and Redwind.'' Shaking her head in disbelief. Putting her hoof on her head, trying to calm herself down. Fireblaze starts to sweat a bit, feeling a little drained in confidence.

 

'' I'd better try to pinpoint their locations.'' Points her horn up to the sky, scanning the forest for any heat signatures. Her horn finally picks up three heat signatures. ''Gotcha.'' Transporting to their location.

[Dark Horn 430]

Impetus puts down his stick after losing the fourteenth game of tic-tac-toe with himself. "Gee, whiz. Where did everyone go?"

 

The Royal Guard thought he had dimly heard someone calling his name a few minutes ago, but he'd dismissed it to wind and small forest critters.

 

Impetus, narrowing his eyes, looks around. "Where did they go?" He sees Fire vanish in a flash of light. "Maybe I can spot them from in the sky."

 

He flies up, only seeing a cave and trees. Shrugging, and wondering what he possibly had to lose, flew down into the cave, blinking and adjusting to the new light. "Oh... so we're all going for a swim, then?"

Silver Note settled himself on a cloud as he watched the others below.

 

"Whatcha doing up here all on your own?" said a voice that Silver recognized as his friend Derpy Hooves.

 

He turned around and smile at her. "Derpy! You're always sneaking up on me! I'm just.... taking a cloud rest."

 

Derpy gave him a knowing look. "I think you're avoiding somepony... Still not getting along with Redwave?"

 

Silver frowned. "Oh you mean Mr Wonderfoal... he's so arrogant, and he takes the credit for everypony elses work... and he accused me of wanting to stab him in the back... and he..."

 

Derpy cut him off "Not everypony finds it easy to trust somepony else" She told him. "He's a sea-faring pony. I'm sure he's use to a very clandestine crew of vagabonds who often have stabbed him in the back and betrayed him. He meets another pony whose brave and loyal like you and the first thing he expects is probably betrayal."

 

Silver looked at Derpy thoughtfully. "I really never considered that. I don't feel particularly brave... It'd never hurt anypony.... I don't even carry a weapon. I guess he just got on my last nerve... He said I was too emotional and endangered the group"

 

Derpy listened carefully to Silver before replying. 

 

"Lots of ponies walk around behind the walls they've built around themselves. You see, when somepony hurts them, they often guard their hearts and minds by hiding everything inside, then when they meet somepony else who shows all their emotions they feel uncomfortable because they see them expressing everything they feel inside but are so afraid to show. They just don't realize that it takes more courage and strength to show an emotion, than it does to conceal it inside where it hurts even more."

 

Silver gawked at her with a drop jawed expression "How did you get so smart?" he asked her.

 

"Well" confessed Derpy, "My eyes look in two different directions at once, so I see everything from two different perspectives!"

 

Silver sat deep in thought for a while before answering " So you're saying I should give him a chance and try to see his point of view? I don't think it will make a difference but if you think so, I'll try. By the way you wouldn't happen to have any more muffins would you?

 

"Of course!" said Derpy producing a large box and handing it to Silver. "Fresh baked, blue berry, cinnamon and apple. There's also some apple pies in there, from sweet apple acres, baked by Applejack herself.... and apple cider, and Pinkie Pie baked you a chocolate swirl cake to share. Everypony in ponyville is thinking about you all. I need to go, I'm on my way to Canterlot with the mail."

 

"Thanks for everything.... again" Silver said as the two of them hugged, wings and all... . "I'll see you again... right?"

 

"Sure will" Derpy replied. "And maybe one day you will learn to write your own letters."

 

'You knew I couldn't read or write?" Silver asked, amazed.

 

"Well yes, it's amazing what you learn from things dropped on the mail room floor." She said with a wink.

 

"Then why'd you even give me that first letter at all?" Silver asked. Scratching his head.

 

"Well somepony had to give you a reason to turn back!" With a wave, Derpy took off into the skies.

 

I wish I had her insight... Silver thought to himself.

 

 

 

 

Silver Note, noticed everypony heading for a cave. 

 

"I suppose Id better follow them." He thought. He really didn't want to be too close to Redwave in case they started arguing again..., but he certainly did not want to leave his friends in danger with only that arrogant foal to look out for them. 

 

"I'll just stay hidden and keep my distance" he decided.

"I can follow from the air, keep an eye on everypony from above." he told her. He really didn't want to be on the ground, anywhere near a certain earth pony stallion with a huge ego. "How is Cinder?" he asked, glancing over at her. "I can see that Minty is.... " he looked her way and saw her deep in conversation with wonderfoal.... "just fine"

 

 

" If you wish. Cinder's better than before, but still a bit shivery. Are you.. jealous?" She nudged him, a small smile on her face. She didn't wait for an answer, and followed the group down to the pool.

She looked at her group. " So we just send back the clone back to the pond, and we're done! Right?"

Silver reached the pool and gawked at the two Minty's and the swimming Cinderblock. "Get out of the water!" He said. He was temped to dive in and rescue Cinder himself, but one of him was enough for this group to handle!

"Sounds simple enough Lyona, but how do we know which one to send back? Did anypony keep an eye on the first one? They look identical. Did somepony say this chant?" He covered his mouth with his hoof, wondering if he would accidentally say it, He being a poet and songwriter and all.

 

" We just gotta quiz them on what happened while we were here. The one that doesn't know, we send back!" She declared, closing the book.

 

" Simple enough, right? And make sure you don't say the words either. One Silver Note is enough for everypony." She smiled again. Despite the situation, she was pretty lighthearted.

"Agreed! Two of me would be a hoof full... " Silver grinned at her. At least she seemed to be in good spirits. "why don't you ask the questions then and I'lll... try to get Cinder to the shore." 

 

He grabbed a large branch in his mouth and dragged it to the water for Cinder to grab onto.

She nodded, and trotted to the two Minty's. 

 

" Okay." She steeled herself. " I'm going to quiz both of you about what happened in the forest while we were here. Just a fun little quiz, am I right? We do need something to pass the time." She smiled. -The one which has the most incorrect answers will be the clone Minty.-

 

She took a clipboard and pen out of nowhere, and had her hair done up in a bun.

 

 

 

 

 

" First question. What was the dangerous weather we faced in the Everfree? Was it... A. Rain. B. Fog and C. Wind?"

 

(I think Minty's sleeping as well...)

Silver Note trotted over. "Great idea! Making it a game". He whispered to Lyona. "I'll play along."

 

"So, " he said addressing the Minty's. "Congradulations on being the next contestants on... The Adventure is Right! If you win this round, you could win a prize! Your choice of a.... " He pulled something out of the box Derpy had give him

 

"chocolate swirl cake" he motioned to it with his hooves in an over dramatic flourish  "or...." he glanced over at Redwave with a mischievous snicker...

 

"A kiss from your favorite somepony!"  Silver pulled his bugle out and played a dramatic

 

*Ta Da*

 

That's bound to motivate the *real* Minty. He thought to himself. "Even if it is slightly evil and embarrassing for Mr Wonderfoal. Oopsie. but all in the line of duty....."

 

Silver hid his snicker behind his hoof. Revenge could be so sweet.
