OOC thread

The sun was just peeking over the horizon, beginning a new day. Curious had been travelling nonstop through the night, still eager to get as far away from Canterlot as possible. He wasn't particularly tired, however, given that he had jumped on a train that had covered the majority of the distance he went. But, upon seeing this building in the horizon, he just had to hop off and make his way towards it.

 

There was something mesmerizing about its silhouette when viewed from afar. But, upon closer inspection, it seemed fairly inconspicuous. "Well, that's odd. It seemed so much larger... and weirdly shaped. Might as well go in and check it out." Curious pushed open the front door and saw a front desk with a mint green earth pony sitting behind it.

 

"Welcome traveler, to the Sojourn Inn," said the receptionist.

 

"The Sojourn Inn, hmm?"

 

"So, how long do you intend to stay?"

 

"Stay, who said I intended on staying? Just passing by."

 

"Oh, but based on the dirt on your hooves you're not from around here, certainly you need a place to stay."

 

Curious raised an eyebrow at the receptionist, "Well, I suppose I do. Might as well." Curious walked up to the receptionist. "I'll stay for a few days, then."

 

"Only three days, sir."

 

"I dunno, this seems like an interesting place, how about a week."

 

"Only three days, sir."

 

That took Curious by surprise, but he shrugged and went on, "Three days it is then. Name's Curious."

 

The receptionist nodded her head and pulled out a key and a clipboard, upon which she wrote down his name, "You'll be staying in room number 1. Here are your keys. You may go to the diner we have for breakfast."

 

"Thank you kindly."

 

Curious took the key to his room, tucked it into his small saddle-bags, and proceeded to the diner. Upon arrival, he noticed there was no other customers. "Figures, can't much find out much of anything with nopony else around. Guess I'll stick around here until somepony else comes by."

 

An hour passed, and Curious was sipping some tea before he heard the front door of the establishment open.

A brown, burly stallion walked into the inn. He walked up to the receptionist.

"Um, hello. I've been traveling for a while when I saw this inn. Could I stay for, say a week? Name's Diamond Dust."

 

"I'm sorry sir but you can only stay three days. If you wish to stay then your room will be number 2." The mare smiled at the earth pony.

 

"Oh, well okay. Do you allow pets? I'm sort of traveling with my rabbit." Coal poked his head out of Dust's saddlebag and smiled at the receptionist.

 

"Yes sir that is fine. Here are your keys. Enjoy your stay!"

 

Dust walked to his room when he saw Curious. 

 

"Oh hello. I assumed I wasn't alone when I got room 2. Name's Diamond Dust. You can call me Dust. And this is Coal." The bunny poked his head out again and waved at Curious.

Curious perked his head up when he saw the robust earth pony greet him. "Aptly enough, he seems rather dusty. Still, seems like a trust worthy enough bloke."

 

Curious readjusted his scarf, and raised his cup in greeting, "Pleasure to meet you, Dust. Name's Curious. Please, won't you join me for a bit of tea? There doesn't seem all that much to do around here, might as well have a little chat, eh?"

 

"Either he saw that weird illusion, too, or I was just imagining things."

"I don't mind much for tea, but I'll sit." Before Dust did so he went and got a salad for Coal. When he came back to sit with Curious, Coal had already eaten a quarter of his salad. "Hehe, Coal never does wait to eat. I'm surprised he isn't overweight. Then again he does eat salad. Anyway, what brings ya here? I myself wanted to go to Manehatten to pursue my piano playin dream." He beamed at the thought, and then chuckled as Coal nudged his empty bowl towards Dust.

 

((Thought I should mention that Dust has a slight southern drawl))

Cerulean Sky, a small pegasus mare walked into the inn. She walked to the receptionist's desk.

"Hello, my name is Cerulean Sky. I love your mane. I could vision painting your mane with one of my brushes, hold on, let me get that out of my bag." She laughed. "Oh sorry, sometimes I get distracted. I'm an artist. I'm looking for a room. Could I possibly stay for 5 days? I'm trying to settle in a little."

"Thank you Miss. Sorry, you may only stay for 3 days. If you wish to stay, your room will be number 3. 

"I'll take it."

Cerulean walked to her room, halfway there she dropped her bags by accident. Some of her art supplies fell out. 

"Oops!"

She put them in her bag and trotted to her room.

"A pianist?" Curious said in surprise. He tugged slightly at his scarf and regained his composure easily enough, "My, I wouldn't have expected that. I'm sure you are experienced, though. Most ponies wouldn't go out travelling to follow a whim." Curious let out a small chuckle, "But, I suppose that I would fall into that minority. Everyday is just another whim."

 

Before Curious could further his small talk, he heard some thumping, down the hall towards the rooms. "Another customer must have come by shortly after Dust. One who seems to be carrying quite some luggage."

Cerulean put her bags down and walked out of her room. She walked to the receptionist's desk. 

"Hello, I was wondering if you ponies had anything to eat here?"

The receptionist smiled. 

"We do, the diner has some breakfast in it, right over there."

Cerulean nodded and walked to the diner to eat breakfast.

Repsol was on his way back home from a major party. He was pretty beat up, so he couldn't have been happier when he saw the sillhouette of a building on the horizon.

"Finally some place to sit my flank down!" He quickly made his way inside.

As repsol opened the door, he was greeted by a reception with a friendly looking mare behind it.

"Good morning Miss!" Repsol said, cheerfull as ever. "I'd very much like to rent a room here, any free?"

He walked over to the receptionist and gave her a big smile.

"Good morning sir. we have a room free to rent. It'll be room number 4. However, you may only stay for three days."

 

"Seems fine to me! Thank you kindly. Name's Repsol Rave." He mde a small bow towards the receptionist before grabbing his keys.

"I'll be on my way now, wich room did you say was mine?"

 

"Room number four sir, enjoy your stay!"

 

"Thanks again!" Repsol quickly made his way to his room, and threw his saddlebags on the floor.

 

"Finally some rest on my hooves!"

Dust looked down at himself and chuckled at Curious' words. "Well i guess I don't really look like a pianist. I dunno I just kind of messed around in music class and it sounded really good in my opinion. So I eventually bought my own piano and I'm pretty darn good at it if I do say so myself. If they have a piano in this place I'll be sure to play a bit." He smiled at the pegasus. This was going to be better than he thought. But why had the inn looked so weird from afar? He shrugged off the thought, thinking it not to be important. He saw Cerulean enter the diner and nodded a hello.

Curious nodded to the mare who just walked in. "I did get here rather early this morning. There will probably more to come by."

 

Curious glanced back over to Dust, "I am sure there's a piano here, and I do suppose some music will liven up the place later."

 

The conversation was going along, slow and methodically. Curious was strategically stalling for time, sipping from his tea even after Dust finished his sentence. As a result, roughly 10 minutes had passed between Dust's entrance and the entrance of the cerulean mare.

 

"Friendly chit chat, get him comfortable. If he did notice something odd, he'll bring it up on his own terms, if he considers me friendly enough."

 

A minute passed by, and Curious heard the door open again((repsol)). Followed by rather hurried steps to the rooms. Less than a minute later, he heard the door open once more((and that's your cue, @PinkieShyFlutterPie.))

After talking for quite a while, Diamond Dust thought about mentioning the odd silhouette of the building. "Hey Curious did you um... Did you notice anything strange when you first saw the building? Like its silhouette?" Dust's mind started reacting immediately.  Why did you ask that? It was probably just the sun and you thought it looked weird. The stallion was never one for strange happenings and usually didn't believe in any tales he was told. "Um, nevermind. Forget ah said anythin..."

Cerulean oddly looked at the two stallions. "I'm just going to eat. Then back to my room to draw!" She didn't really like talking to ponies that much. She grabbed some fried hay and ate some of it quickly. She was still hungry, but she didn't want to talk to the two stallions. She quickly trotted out of the diner and back into her room.

Milly was walking by when she saw a inn, she had been walking for a pretty long time now...she needed a rest. She looked up at the building "Well...this place looks nice..ish, sorta...strange looking?" She said to herself but just ignored it. Milly walked up to the receptionist "I would like to stay here for a couple of days" "Welcome to the Sojourn Inn. You may stay for 3 days, here is the room key. You will be staying in number 5" "Thank you!" Milly said as she grabbed the key to the room and trotted away.

Curious was a little disappointed that the mare had no interest in talking to them. "Oh well, I can probably get her to talk later if I am bored. An artist would have some interesting insights or experiences, I am sure."

 

Curious took another extended sip of his tea, which was starting to get a little low. "Can't say I noticed anything, must have been your eyes playing tricks."

As Repsol laid on his bed, he found himself unable to fall asleep.

"Damn, guess i forgot to eat last night." He slowly got up from his bed, and walked slowly to the reception.

"Excuse me Miss, but is there any chance i can get something to eat around here?"

 

"The diner's open for breakfast now"

 

"Thank you very much" Repsol left while giving the receptionist the biggest smile he could master while being so tired.

as he went into the diner, he noticed two other stallions sitting at a table."Guess I'm not alone here then"

"Goodmorning gentlepony's!" Repsol smiled at the two stallions while he went to get some food.

Nice one Dust. "Yea It must of just been my imagination. Aw darn I should go settle down. See ya around Curious." Giving a farewell nod to Curious and a quick hello to Repsol, he went to find his room. Coal followed suit and Dust looked up when he was about to enter his room and he saw her.

She's... She's... wow! Dust was not usually too shy, but this mare made him feel like mush. He built up a bit of confidence and went to greet her. "Um... hello! Mah name's Diamond Dust, but Dust is um... fine." Coal jumped up like he was annoyed at being unmentioned. "Oh and uh.... this little guy is Coal..." Dust smiled a bit awkwardly at Milly.

Cerulean began to feel bad. "Was I mean to them? Was I rude?" She began to start to draw. She started sketching a self portrait. "It's not like I.. who am I kidding, I'm rude!" She puts her head on her sketchbook. Cerulean began to feel guilty because of walking off. This was a trait of hers. She felt like she hurt pony's feelings sometimes, even if she was being very polite.

Curious gave a small nod to Dust as he went off. Curious himself was growing a little bored of the diner, his teacup empty. He readjusted his scarf as the new stallion entered. "I already got a second opinion from Dust, so it's not exactly a priority to get this stallion's account. Might as well humor him in some shallow talk anyway, I'll check out the rest of the premises later."

 

"Greetings. Nice little place this is, isn't it?"

Milly trotted to the diner...she was pretty hungry. She jumped a bit at the sound of somepony talking. She turned to see a stallion...she was surprised that a stallion suddenly started talking to her. "Uhm..H-hi" She said a bit shy. "I'm MillyMusic...but you can call me Milly" She said smiling a bit. Her smile got bigger at seeing the bunny, she loved animals "A bunny! How cute"

"Yeah, it's pretty nice. lets just hope the food is good too" Repsol walked over to the other stallion and sat down at the table.

"Oh man, I can't even remember the last time i've eaten. This is gonna be good!" Repsol started eating his breakfast, but soon realized how rude he was being.

"Where are my manners? The names Repsol Rave, but you can just call me Repsol." Repsol stuck out his hoof in greeting, his muzzle sporting a big smile.

Milly. The name was odd for a pony, but it sounded pretty. Dust looked down at his furry friend who was beaming at Milly's excitement over him. "Oh uh, do ya now? Yea I met Coal in the... coal mines when I was younger. I saw him under some rubble and pulled him out. He hasn't left me since." Dust looked down at his pet and smiled, remembering that day.

Curious shook Repsol's hoof, "Pleasure to meet you, Repsol, name's Curious. And, thankfully, the food here is quite satisfactory."  He dropped his hoof onto the table, "So, Repsol, what is it that you do? Traveling on business or something?"

 

"Probably not, seems more like a school colt, but doesn't hurt to ask."

Milly watched as a stallion got up and left, she wondered why but just looked back at Dust as he talked about his bunny "So you saved him? That's so sweet! I love animals" Milly said then looked back down at Coal "So that's how you get the name Coal? You are such a little cutie" She said to the bunny. She went to pet him then looked back up at Dust "Can i pet him?"

Repsol laughed a bit at the idea of him on a bisuness trip."Nah, I just came from one of DJ Pon3's legendary partys. I'm still in school actually." Repsol was now eating away at his breakfast at a more sophisticated rate. 

"So how did you end up here? you dont look like a stallion to come near these parts of canterlot a lot."

Repsol looked up from his plate to the pony in front of him. 

"No offence."

"Uh, go for it! He seems to have takin a liking to ya. He's normally this laid back though. As for the name, well he was covered in coal dust but when I cleaned him he ended bein black anyways. So Coal seemed fitting." Dust was feeling a bit more comfortable around Milly, but he still felt a bit mushy. "So uh, why ya been travelin? I myself was on my way to Manehatten to pursue my pianist dream." Again Dust beamed at the thought as Milly patted Coal's head.
