"Okay, well, met is a bit too casual of a word, what I just did would count more along the lines of treason. But, hey, he doesn't need to know that."

 

"I am an investigative journalist, you see," Curious furthered his lies. For whatever reason, ponies didn't often take kindly to knowing that they've been talking to a private detective, makes them feel like they are in trouble or something. "Just heading back from Canterlot to my paper's headquarters in Trottingham."

Milly smiled and started to pet Coal "Well, his name sure does fit him!" She said as she petted him. She looked back up at Dust wile still petting Coals head. "A pianist? Awesome! My dream is to become a singer. Oh, i was traveling to Manehatten also...Just to visit, get away from the little town i live in called ponyville"

"What are they like? I heared some stories about celestia being kinda mean towards luna." But then Repsol emediately remembered who told him those stories. "Can't say they came from a reliable source though."

"Ponyville? Well shoot I'm from Ponyville too! And a singer huh? Maybe we can do a duet when we get to Manehattan, assuming we leave at the same time." Dust chuckled, not sure if he was joking about the duet thing or not. If this mare had lived in Ponyville, then he must have never seen her. Cuz he knew that he DEFINITELY would recognized her.

As Symphony wandered along the road, a building caught the crystal mare's eye. An inn of some sort - she guessed, and although something felt a little 'off' about it, she decided that she wasn't going a step further until she had rested properly.

 

Stepping inside, she shifted her wing uncomfortably, trying to hide the blackened parch of feathers from view. "I'd like a room." she said almost forcefully to the mare on duty. "... Three nigh..."

 

She hadn't even finished speaking when a key was pushed towards her over the desk, marked with a '6'.

 

"Huh. No questions, good service... I could have used a place like this back in the Kingdom." she thought as she wandered out into the main building, issuing a curt 'thank you' to the mare. She was going to relax and enjoy done peace for once. Nopony could stop her doing that.

 

She'd like to see them try anyway.

"It was just a brief interview, nothing too interesting to share, I am afraid." Curious got up from the table to signal that their conversation was about to end; he was still interested in checking the rest of the inn, and he knew from experience that the less time you spent telling a lie the less likely it was to be exposed. "All I asked was some details concerning the upcoming marriage of Princess Cadenza and Shining Armor. They did seem rather preoccupied, couldn't say one way or another how Celestia treats Luna."

Cerulean woke up. "I went to sleep?" Her face was covered in tears. She wiped them off. "I need to go to the little filly's room." She decided. She opened the door of her room and walked out of it. Cerulean had been crying because of what happened earlier, with the two stallions.

"Um..." Dust saw Cerulean walk out of her room and... were those tears. Dust gestured toward Cerulean Sky. "She uh, seemed a little... I dunno... earlier. Do you mind if I go see if anythings wrong?" He caught Cerulean's eye and gestured for her to stop while he waited for Milly. After all, he didn't want to seem rude, especially to her

Milly was looking at Dust but noticed he was looking somewhere else. After what he had said she looked over to see the crying mare "Oh, alright...that's okay, i don't mind" Milly smiled. "Do you want me to leave you alone to talk with her or? Cause i don't mind...I'm just wondering.."

"Ummm it don't really matter which one. I just wanted to see if she was alright." Coal already started bouncing off to the Pegasus mare. He stopped her while Dust went over to her. "Hey uh, are you alright? I just noticed earlier that you seemed to be a little... irritable, for lack of a better word. An now yet cryin... are you OK?"

Cerulean gasped when the stallion looked at her. "I've gotta.. um.." She didn't know what to say. "I don't wanna um." She didn't want to be rude, but she felt as if she couldn't talk to the stallion, or look at him. Instead, she looked at the ground. She was very embarrassed.

Dust recoiled a bit. "Coal back up a bit. Your invading her personal space. And I'm invading her privacy. Its OK if you don't wanna talk about it. Was just concerned is all." He backed up a little and smiled, showing that he wanted to help. Coal gave Dust the relaxed look he always had on and jumped on his back.

((since you're off to work, I'll just shift Curious away from Repsol, as he enjoys his breakfast))

 

Curious wished he had a hat sometimes; hats are detective friendly accessories. But mainly, he just wish he had a hat so that he could tip it in farewell. He settled instead with a simple "Enjoy your breakfast, Adieu" and wave.

 

Curious went out of the diner and into the Inn proper. He looked around, saw a few paintings, portraits, hanging on the walls. They weren't anything too fancy, but there seemed to be a lineage.

 

While looking at the walls, however, he couldn't help but notice an occasional flicker of light, as if it was reflecting off or being bent by some surface. When he looked to see where that distraction was coming from, what he found was the most intriguing thing he had so far laid his eyes upon. "A crystal pony! My, you don't see them around too often. And... if I'm not mistaken, she's a pegasus! Oh, I simply must go up and talk to her!"

 

"Excuse me, miss. Care to talk for a moment?"

"No no no, It's okay, it really is. I am just, um, not used to talking to people." She paused and thought for a second. "I really don't want to be rude or anything. I really don't want to hurt your feelings, or your cute little bunny's. She looked up at his eyes for a second, and then back down. She was very nervous.

"What...?" Symphony asked, her rudeness caused more by surprise than anything else. Still, she'd barley got here and there were ponies trying to...

 

Maybe she actually should find out what he wanted.

 

"Uh, yes?" She tried again. It was... an improvement, at least. "Can I help you?"

 

She looked at the pony - the pegasus who had been sitting not too far away. She adopted what she hoped was a neutral expression.

"Who Coal? Naw Coal's as solid as a rock, right buddy?" He looked back at the bunny and he puffed out his chest in gratitude. However in doing so, he made himself lose his balance. He fell off of Dust's back and since the stallion was so tall, Coal was able to save himself at the last second. Dust chuckled at the whole event and saw Cerulean smile too. "Or maybe he's just as soft as he looks..." That comment had earned him a death glare from the rodent in question.

Milly watched as Dust talked to the crying mare, she thought about saying something but didn't know what. She giggled a bit at Coal falling off Dust. She looked around to see everypony else, their was somepony she didn't know...the pony that was talking to Dust before she started talking to him...and...a mare who looked like a crystal pony! Milly hasn't seen a crystal pony in person.

Cerulean smiled at Coal. "You're so cute!" She attempted to pet him. "I wish I had a pet of my own. I'm usually so lonely these days." 

"I'm an artist. I love art, I love making art," She noticed how much she was talking. "Sorry for talking so much like this. I never talk to anyone."

Curious was a little disappointed by her tone. "Keep the eagerness down, she doesn't seem to be nearly as chatty as those blokes from the diner. Think of something that could actually interest her. A-ha! Thankfully this place provides just the right topic, and I have the assurance of Dust."

 

Curious tugged at his scarf and said, calmly, "I was just wondering if you had noticed anything strange on your way here."

Dust grinned at the pegasus. "Oh I dont mind. I tend to ramble on sometimes... as for a pet,.is there a reason you don't have one? They are nice to have. When I found Coal he pretty much never left my side." He smiled at Coal, and the bunny returned to his laid back expression. "Away darn I really should go settle in more. It was nice talking to you though, I wouldn't mind having another chat." The stallion grinned at the mare as his bunny jumped back onto his back.

Cerulean awkwardly walked to the diner. "That was weird. I actually talked to somepony." She went and sat next to a mare. The mare looked at her, but she just ignored her. "I wish I had a friend." She accidentally said that out loud with the mare sitting next to her. She looked at the mare and blushed.

Symphony looked at the stallion for a moment - what was his angle? What did he want? He certainly looked... curious.

 

"Like what?" She asked, shifting uncomfortably. "Nothing more out of place than any other day. Why? Something I should know about?"

 

She watched him, tried to figure him out. She wasn't a stranger to being approached at random for a number of reasons but never to simply ask her opinion on something.

 

"Who are you?" she asked bluntly.

"Oh, me?" Curious said, pointing a hoof to his chest, "Nopony too interesting. Just Curious is all."

 

"Ugh, I swore years ago I would never make that pun. Never have been one for promises, though."

 

"It's just that a fellow here told me he saw some sort of mirage. I figured, since you are a crystal pony, you would know a thing or two about how lights can play tricks on the eyes."
