@@TheBreech,

Lyth nodded and thought about her sword. It was a slightly curved blade, made for a draw. It was also sharp, and slender. If I said that out loud, a pony could make a quip about it being similar to me, though I do not believe I am often very sharp. Her eyes began to glow, as well as the runes trapping her magic in the blade. She drew it and slashed at Cosmo with a swift, fluid motion.

Cosmo tilted his body to be parallel with the slash and twirled Altair to knock the attack to the side, moving along his side from a few inches away. "A good start. I've almost always found attacks like that are best at extremely close range. A single movement is best against opponents who hold their ground, opponents that rely on evasion will require a flow of movements. Just like Cosmo twirled his weapon, you could carry your momentum to circle your blade back down for a overhead strike. Try again."

(I expect you'll be making up

instructions like this during that Rune training)

Swordpoint reassessed Sole. But that would mean that he is over one thousand years old... How can it be possible? "How have you walked this earth for so long? That is certainly not the natural lifespan of a griffon..." He  spread his wings and glowed bright gold briefly before conjuring ice beneath Sole, freezing his talons to the deck.

(OoC: Well, a little note about Swordpoint is that he can cast bigger and stronger spells when he has time to gather up energy beforehand. To do that, he has to spread his wings first. He can cast spells in a snap, but doing that uses up his body's energy.)

sole ignored the ice and sighed "well, technecally I was sealed away for most of that time... but i'd prefer you didn't know why I'm immortal ... you might not like the answer." He said calmly, before focusing magic into his talons and paws to quickly melt the ice. After freeing himself, he shot forward and punched swordpoint, before flipping around and kicking him in the head.

(You will find that your stick of charcoal can be something of a work of art, or a frustrating tool. Either way, I'll expect you to be LEARNING runes. I will handle the delivery method.)

"I must admit that I am confused," she says to the blade, "Am I to continue attacking after the first strike, or am I to go through a predetermined series of motion?" She re-sheathes the blade subconsciously, waiting for his response. She also empties her cloak of the candle, various silver implements, and book of text she carried with her normally, as well as a box marked with a rune (that you will learn later means learn), and prepared herself.

Sole's punch connected, but Swordpoint teleported away from the kick. "You are a friend of Crimson, and for that, you have my trust. You may speak freely without fear of persecution. I understand redemption all too well." He darted toward Sole and jumped into the air. He held out his back hooves and barrel rolled as he approached at high speed.

Altair shakes his head, "I'll inform you if I see anything you need to change, just keep attacking him, and try to anticipate his defenses." Cosmo rolled his eyes and said, "Your Telekinesis moves smoothly, so what you're learning is the mindset. I fight by making a series of strikes against my opponent in bursts, balancing the time their in range of my attacks and I'm safe from theirs. Just focus on carrying your momentum trough each strike. If I knock you off course, loop around to another attack, and continue doing so until either you hit or you see an opening to exploit. Just keep striking, and keep your blade out," Cosmo clown life's with a grin.

sole didn't attempt to dodge. Instead, he braced himself and caught swordpoint, skidding back as he tried. "Fine... ya wanna know why?" He asked, before attempting to throw swordpoint "discord is my father... he created me to be a weapon." He said calmly, feeling strange about admitting that to a stranger.

When Sole grabbed Swordpoint's hoof, he acted quickly. He spun his other hoof in a roundhouse, connecting with Sole's head. He flapped his wings hard, pushing him up into the air. "I see. You say that he 'created' you... He manufactured you? Or were you born to a mother?" He flipped and came down toward Sole with both hooves extended.

"While I thank you for the advice, Cosmo," she grins playfully, "I'd imagine that if we fought exactly the same we wouldn't work as well as a team, now would we? You appreciate a wide variety of mid-ranged combat, while I was trained under the knife. While I respect you as my teacher, I also find myself looking to what kind of future I would have as your mirror, and believe that it would be far more effective to train under different styles that compliment each other," she says, accenting the last note as she drew the sword and pressed his defenses, starting with a customary draw-slash. After their blades connected, she disengaged the sword and pressured his space, making sure he couldn't disengage and try any ranged tactics. Her focus was on Cosmo alone, and her mind was devoid of emotion. Her strikes, however, were not very precise, not very weighty, and clumsy, which made them rather easy to block.

@@TheBreech,

As he parried, Cosmo replied, "True, however, I'm teaching you the mindset of how to use a single blade. I wasn't given formal training with knives or the Black Swans, I adapted the into my fighting style. True, these aren't skills one would use in many other forms of combat, but you aren't built for plate mail and a war maul. My clan mates each had their own style, based on the skills we had with a single blade. One of my sisters wound tie up her foes with chains and stab them through the links, Sear Blade would slash and parry, but his real attacks were the fire that lept from his strikes. For me, Altair's gleam would conceal the black blades darting at my opponent, and would make them pincushions before they knew what happened." Edited by TheBreech

Swordpoint got up quickly, but he winced at the pain from the impact. "That is a cruel life. I pity you, Sole." He leapt into the air. "I can see that we are fairly even in terms of combat... but let us see how you handle aerial combat." Swordpoint flapped his wings idly, waiting for Sole.

sole sighed "I don't want or need your pity... I've made peace with my old man, and now I'm gonna use my chaos powers to help instead of destroy." He said simply, before darting forward and kicking one of swordpoints wings, attempting to knock him out of the air.

Swordpoint effortlessly dodged Sole's kick with a quick flap of his wings and brought his elbow down on Sole's back. "That is well. Chaos magic can be a valuable asset... or a dangerous enemy."

(OoC: He's faster in the air... just so you know. He's not a super speed demon, but he's still pretty fast.)

((sole is more or less as fast as dash in the air. But his agility makes him really hard to hit.))

Sole grunted as he felt the attack connect, but quickly twisted in the air and grabbed swordpoint and headbutting him.

"Yeah, trust me... I know." He said noncholantly.

"I concede the point," she growls through gritted teeth, "We will do as you ask. However, it will be... difficult for me." She Reset with her blade in her sheath. She waited for him to reset, and started with a downward strike from her draw, slicing off the tip of his blad and going for a horizontal slice.

Swordpoint easily righted himself and threw his hoof at Sole's head. "I am glad that I am no longer in the service of that wench, Omnia. But it troubles me that she fell to the darkness. She is the sister of Princess Celestia, and from what the princess has told me, Omnia was once the most beautiful of the three. Now, her shape and colors are vile."

Swordpoint rolled with Sole's attack, doing a full flip and wrapping his back legs around Sole's neck. He flipped himself again and tossed Sole toward the crow's nest. "She is a demon. You... could never understand the horrors which I committed in her name."

Altair stopped an inch short, allowing Noctis to make contact with Cosmo's shoulder. "I'm not sure how much energy you have but these sessions can be exhausting. Unless you want to keep practicing, it seems like you've got some tricks to share as well," Cosmo nodded to the supplies Lyth brought with her, "Those books aren't for sword practice, so what are you planning to teach?"

Swordpoint flipped again as Sole crashed into him. He moved with the force of the impact, reducing it greatly. "Interesting. We seem to be quite evenly matched in terms of our physical skill." He spun in a circle as he rose upward. "Perhaps you would like to involve weaponry? I can assure you that I have no intention of harming you. I am merely curious about your skill with weapons." He floated in place, awaiting a response.

(OoC: Wanna start using weapons? Swordpoint won't try to seriously injure Sole; he's just curious as to how well Sole can handle weapons.)

"What I know that you don't," she says, tapping the bottom of her blade, "Runes. If you'd like, I can teach you how to write them, and perhaps how to cast with them once you've learned enough. If you'd like, that is." She blushes a little, "And if Altair would like to supplement, I won't stop him either."

sole thought for a moment, before grinning "ah what the hell, why not." He said with a shrug "but only if nopony gets hurt, i'd hate for one of us to accidentily lop the others head off." He said jokingly, before focusing his chaos energy into his talons. Soon, he held a katana like sword made of energy. "You probably are too, but I'll warn you anyways. I've been trained to kill with weapons just like these for years, so please, be careful." He said calmly, before darting forward and swiping the blade up, attempting to smack him in the head with the flat of the blade.

((This should be pretty cool. Sole used to be a swordsman during the war, so this could get interesting.))

Swordpoint quickly conjured his lance, which was light brown with Celestia's symbol as the guard. The blade appeared razor sharp and was pure white. "I fully intend to use restraint. You walk in the light, and are therefore not my enemy. I shall noy try to harm you." Swordpoint held up the lance, deflecting Sole's strike. He then spun the lance quickly and struck Sole in the side of the head with the back side of the lance.

(OoC: Hehe. Alright, let's get this party started! I think one of us might just have to give up at some point, because Sole and Swordpoint seem to be evenly matched. We're landing strikes, but nothing serious enough to actually KO the opponent.)

((um, little problem with that plan. Sole would rather die then give up in a fight, so its either KO, or someone/something needs to interrupt the fight.)) Just as the lance was coming at his head he braced himself and took it head on. But as the attack stopped, he grabbed the lance and held it in place, before hitting swordpoint in the gut with the pommel of his sword.
