gaming Does Brawl Mario look better than WiiU Mario?

Not in terms of the HD or resolution. I mean the colors and textures. Seeing Mario's outfit in Smash WiiU was a huge disappointment considering the detail of his outfit in Brawl.




In Brawl his overalls had a more realistic jeans look, you can see the yellow stitchings...in WiiU its mostly just a washed-out blue with faint, faint threaded texture...

not only Mario but all the characters in the game, in fact Sakurai said in his E3 developer direct that with this version they used palettes with primary colors for all the characters, making them seem brighter, something like melee.

 

In my personal opinion, brawl does look much better, because I always liked the "realistic" feel that all the charactrers have had, they toned down the contrast of the characters, but that way the details can be appreciated much better, just like Mario's jean-like overalls.

 

For example, Link looks way too realistic in this new version, and with such intense vivid colors he looks a little bit ridiculous because it's too bright for the way that he looks. That's something I'll miss from Brawl, but it's not something that will prevent me from loving this game

It does and doesn't. It does because this is Nintendo's first real HD console and they need to step up their game and show the other publishers and developers the capabilities of their system. While the game does look beautiful with sharp resolutions and whatnot, I feel like the bright color pallette is ruining any real detail work thus just making it look like a bunch of flat colors when not viewed up close.

 

It doesn't because all games should be about is the gameplay.

I'm more interested how other characters look like. I was very impressed by how Samus and Fox looked my self and kinda want to see how the other/new characters will look

 

Never really interested with how Mario looked, but I prefered his Melee look

In my opinion I liked the more realistic approach in Brawl for the characters in comparison to the Wii U style, although it is one thing I will miss they have said that they will be adding detail in other places which is a plus I suppose

could be average to you, bu not for a lot of people! Mario doesn't need to be Ike to be a great character and while he looks like he is weak, it's because he has HIGH combo potential and juggling abilities even at high percents. And smash attacks? haha, ain't nobody got time for that!

As a Marth and Toon Link player, I prefer to use faster character with powerful smash attacks and air attacks. That's why I don't like using Mario. He's just so weak IMO.

Alright Mario is a bad character, Marth pretty much will be back, I can't say the same about Toon Link, pretending that they will be almost the same as brawl, be careful if your smile is changed into a frown when you face a good Mario player if you can find any.

I remember their was a Spirit Tracks themed stage in the trailer, and they're releasing Wind Waker for the WiiU, so why wouldn't they bring back Toon Link? I still think Mario is a weak character, I also feel that Ness is underrated. Ness' PK Fire does a boatload of damage.

Yeah, comparing the two screencaps, the Wii-U one is a little disappointing in terms of character detail. You'd think that if Nintendo is going to pull the same backhanded shit they do with every new console release - "If you want the new Smash Bros. entry, you gotta buy the new platform!" - they could at least make each new entry look equal or superior to the previous.

 

That's why I don't like using Mario. He's just so weak IMO.

 

To be fair, whenever I play as Olimar it feels like I'm a 4-year-old trying to fight Hulk Hogan, yet there exist pro Olimar players who can pwn everyone with him. Just kind of depends on which character works best for you when first starting out, and whether you decide to master that character, as I pretty much have with Fox and Falco.

Brawl's character models really hold up I think, and Mario's is no exception. I think the Wii U model looks better though, looks a lot cleaner and you can still see detail in the pants, a nice compromise between his usual cartooniness and a bit of realism in my opinion.

I really like the brawl mario. The hat, hair and clothes have a realistic touch and shadow effects to them. The WII U mario has colors that are very simple and kiddish.

I actually prefer the Wii U Mario. To me, the threads on Brawl Mario's overalls look out of proportion with his body. It makes him look kind of like a puppet.

Your reasons doesn't seem enough, just by the fact that his name is "Toon Link" meaning that there are 2 Links in the same game is enough, I also believe that Lucas won't be back but he's hell a lot different than Ness.

OMG no! I just see Toon Link's options of returning very low, Falco, Luigi and Wolf aren't cloned characters, they are VERY different to their originals, can't say the same of Ganon tho, even if he plays differently than C. Falcon

But Toon Link plays different than regular Link. Can't they just fix him like what they did with Falco? He's already faster than regular Link. And what about Jigglypuff?

we could talk hours and hours about this and you still won't try to get my point, there so many things besides the moves of the characters, and those things are against toon link, he's your favorite character and it sucks that he would kicked, I'd be frustrated if my favorite character wouldn't return too, but you just don't understand me. and about Jiggly, I really don't know, probably he'll be back. he's unique (and not like Kirby)

Well they did get rid of Young Link, except they actually replaced him with Toon Link. Wouldn't it just be better to have a massive choice of fighters instead of getting rid of some?

I don't know... The detailed look of his overalls has never been Mario. That's only been his appearance in Melee and Brawl. I think that the less detailed overalls better represent Mario as he is everywhere else.

I agree. The characters do look a lot less realistic, but that could be both good and bad.

 

I think the producers were trying to make a more game-like feel, instead of a real-life one. I honestly don't know, but I personally think that the characters look much better now than they did on Brawl.
