It is over 1000 years since the great holders of the Elements of Harmony left this humble universe, and now it is a time when a bit more than Friendship is needed to bring about peace. The Coalition of Equestria fights to hold dominion of it's territory from the Rebel Fleet while facing the constant threat of invasion by the Changeling Empire. The Zebrayik Federation also fights for power between these forces, struggling to survive between the threats of the Empire and the CoE. Now, a new threat faces the vast galaxy. Now, the fate of the universe is in the hooves of a select few. This is their story.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DeadEye waded through a crowd of excited civilians, all eagerly awaiting the arrival of their ruler, Princess Luna. She was to make an appearance in a matter of minutes, to speak to the civilians of Canterlot, the capital of the Coalition of Equestria. This was not a pleasure visit though. He had recently got a tip that there would be a changling assassination attempt on the princess's life today. He scanned the crowd like a hawk for any suspicious individuals. Currently, the Coalition and the Empire were in conflict, but the death of Luna would mean the shift to total war, either bringing the Rebel Fleet and Zebrayik areas to side with the Empire out of necessity, or dying in the middle of the conflict. It would mean the death and suffering of millions or even billions. The princess must not die.

He spied a shifty looking pony, fiddling with a camera near the rear of the crowd. DeadEye walked up beside him and leaned on the guardrail behind him casually. He pulled the front of his hat down low, hiding his scarred, white eye. Suddenly, he suddenly reached out and grabbed the camera, which felt like no camera he had ever seen. It was a magic blaster rifle, disguised using changling magic. He pulled it to the air so none of the civilians would be hurt, and then he pulled the changling off of the ledge behind them, falling about ten feet to another platform. They rolled around, struggling for a while, both trying to avoid alerting the crowd. Finally the changling managed to escape, by pushing himself off of the unicorn and flying away, leaving behind his weapon and a piece of cloth from the garment he was wearing, which DeadEye bit off during the struggle.

He examined the cloth, and he recognized it immediately. It was from a planet in Zebrayik territory, Neighdel. He had been there before...

The planet was once an important trading partner with the Coalition, but when the the changlings came, they put an end to that, further destabilizing the relationship between the different major factions in this galaxy. To this day, it was still part of the Empire. Getting there would be tricky. He would have to board a ship headed that way, but first he needed more information about why this attack had happened in the first place. It was rather out of the blue, afterall. He needed to get access to Celestia's computer systems.

He stalked off, wanting to avoid detection. He knew just where to go.

"Bah..."

Thunder Blade stalked the command bridge, grumbling. "It certainly took them long enough to catch on to the spy, yet unfortunate that the attempt went so... badly." He turned to the computer and opened a comms link to the Council, waiting for them to speak first, as was the custom...

A ray of sun light worked itself through the dust right on to Storm Cloud's face. Disturbed by the warmth this was causing on her face, the yellow pegasus slowly woke up. Her senses coming to live, the buzzing of electronic ventilators slowly taking a prominent spot on her mind.

She lifted her head of the desk where she had fallen asleep, it was covered with electronics, empty bottles and spilled pills. Several monitors, attached to the wall behind the desk where displaying white messages on a black background. "Kernel panic. Press any key to reboot..." was the last message on all of them.

The noise of ventilators became louder and louder in her head. Storm somehow wasn't surprised that her headache would make her want silence the unnerving buzzing, I should stop drinking this stuff. She pressed a switch under the desk, immediately turning off the two PCs under it and all of the monitors connected to them.

"Ahh! much better" she said while picking up several of the white pills scattered on her table and one of the bottles which held a rest of a clear liquid. She first swallowed both of the pills and then spilled them down with some of the Vodka she had found. She hated the taste of alcoholic drinks, but they helped forgetting something she hated even more.

The voice of a pony on a radio on the other end of the room caught Storm's attention. He was talking about the visit of Luna to Canterlot. If she knew I'm just a ten minute drive away from her... - she ended her thought with a set of filly-unfriendly expressions.

Hearing about Luna had made some old memories come back, she turned of the receiver with unnecessary force and headed to her unmade bed to rest a little more. The painkillers soon had the expected effect making her doze off into slumber.

Goldwrench woke up the second the alarm clock started working.

"Meughghghg..." He wasn't the earliest bird. "What time is it..?"

"Good morning, sire I can see you're already up. Would you like breakfast?"

"What time is-" Gold then looked at the clock. "That's a record..." He got up and walked to his worktable.

"Sire, there's news on the radio."

"You don't say..." Goldwrench said, picking up the radio.

"And we're happy t-gfdhgdnjs...rt that princess Luna is coming to Canter-ghzzbbhczxhcz"

He raised a brow. "Luna, eh? I don't think members of The Rebel Fleet are allowed to Canterlot... well I ain't gonna risk it."

"Sire, I have succesfully created breakfast."

"Ponies had breakfast hours ago."

"That doesn't mean that you can't eat it. I scanned your body, Sire. You need food. Now. Your fuel reserves are low."

"Alright... what do we got then?"

"I have created macaroni!"

*For breakfast... wow.*

Gold sat down and started eating.

"Thunder Blade!" announced a tall, female changeling. "What news do you have for us?"

He bowed in front of the monitor. "Hello, Your Highness. I have found out that- most unfortunately- our mission in Canterlot has been foiled by a mercenary known as... Deadeye." He sighed. "The spy has survived the endeavor and is en route back. I will assure that he is... dealt with." He paused. "It appears that the mercenary is en route to Neighdel to disrupt our projects there, as well as the possibility of a rebel fleet and/or CoE fleet. I request guidance my next course of action."

@@Agent505,

Slicer was sitting in a small rundown bar in Canterlot.
He expected most ponies would be off to see the princess speak...but Slicer could care less.
He was sitting at a table along with four other stallions...who had all passed out, there was a large pile of empty mugs in the center of the table as Slicer stood up. He grabbed a small pile of bits next to the mugs then proceeded to search the four stallions.
After taking all their money he walked out of the bar. "They're paying." He said to the bar tender as he walked out.

*Now...off to find Grindwheel.* He thought, making his way downtown, his metal hooves clinking against the stone street.

We are aborting our previous mission and falling back until our next opportunity. Do so as soon as you have cleaned up your mess...Counsel out!" she declared as the screen went fuzzy.

As the screen went fuzzy, he sighed and turned back to the darkness of space. Although it was a calming view of  Equestria- from half a light year away- his mind was far from calm. He punched in the coordinates for Neighdel while leaving a ship behind to watch to skies of Equestria. As the ship entered hyperspeed, he took out a fiddle and slowly began playing it.

Its melancholy sounds echoed throughout the entire bridge.

(Sorry this post took me so long to make, and there's a lot of nothing here)

Metal Gear was looking around the engineers shop in Canterlot, it had been built way before he was even born, and when he was still a small colt he visited the shop on a regular basis, getting the know the shopkeeper over many years, and netting himself many a bargain in the process. He even had a side business going there for some time, but eventually the income became too small so he left it for bigger and better prospects.

While he was in Canterlot, he figured he'd visit the shop as a way of paying a visit to his past. The shopkeeper, Silver Coin, was still looking as young as ever, despite the fact he must have been over 70 years old by now. "Anythin' new fer us today Silver?" Metal Gear called out as he browsed through the shops "junk box" selection. "I'd pay ya a good'n if y'could rustle us up another proton driver, m'latest 'n' greatest ain't gonna run 'erself!" he laughed cheerily, sifting through more and more junk.

"You'll have to speak up young'un! Mah old ears aint what they used to be these days" Silver Coin replied

"Oh? 'Sat so? Y'want me to see if I can't get ya a hearing helper?" Metal Gear shouted back as he buried his head deeper and deeper into the junk metal, splattering his coat in a thick and gooey layer of oil. "Ah ha! Foun' shumfin!" he mumbled to himself as he grabbed the object in his mouth, pulling it out of the box, sending machine parts scattering along the floor. The object he pulled out was a form of magical conductor, it looked battered, broken and beyond any form of use or repair, so it wouldn't take him long to have it working.

"No thank you young'un, I know your deal, and i'm a business pony myself you know!" He called back loudly.

"A'ight, suit y'self! So how 'bout that driver?"

"It's coming, hold yer horses there boy" He ducked behind the counter and rustled around for a moment before pulling out a small device, about the same size as a AA battery, only with a small dish on one end, and several revolving gears on the other, with two connector ports on either end. Metal Gear's eyes lit up, and a smile beamed across his face. "She's a beauty aint she? How much fer her?"

"It's my last in stock this season, i'm afraid the price is up, but i'll discount you five percent - that leaves 260 bits, anything else you got there? I'll see what I can do for you young'un."

"Jus' these today i'm afraid! On a budget." He lifted a bag of machine pieces, as well as the magical conductor and dropped them on the counter.

"A budget you say? And you're spending this? That'll be 6 for you boy."

"Y'always where a good 'un Silver." He chuckled, dropping a pre-counted pouch of 600 hundred bits on the counter "Knew I could count on ya" he grinned, making his way out of the shop, into the city and back towards The Asylum to get to work on his newest project.

Mellon Collie, on 22 Jun 2013 - 11:26 PM, said:

DeadEye returned to his ship, the door opening on his arrival. ...

Storm had been unable to get any rest from her additional sleep, she stood up and decided that a short shower would be best for her. She slowly dragged herself to the bathroom and opened the faucet, causing thousands of small water pearls to run down her coat. After she had dried herself up she packed a saddlebag with a laptop and a pouch with bits.

She run her mental checklist. A hoodie, her saddlebag and a check to see if there was any suspicious looking pony on the outside of her house. She exited and closed the door after her, melting into the mass of ponies walking the street.

Her job for today was easy as cake, she had redirected a cargo the coalition was sending so it would be received on a random address in the city. But first things first, she was low on pills and needed more. After walking ten minutes on the main street she turned into a small alley and after a few more turns she reached a pony who seemed to be waiting for someone.

"Need my stuff" - she said to the pony while checking she hadn't be followed. "Your last one was just a week ago" the dealer answered - "Yeah, whatever, had a terrible week. Do I have to beg you to sell that stuff or what?" - "Here, normal price"

After the exchange was complete and her bags were holding two orange plastic containers filled with pills she headed back to the main street to get the job done.

@@Agent505,

Slicer decided that Metal Gear had probably gone back to the ship so made his way back to the docks, ignoring the stares from ponies passing by.

After a few minutes he arrived at the ship just in time to see Metal Gear entering.
He smiled and followed. He spread his wings and silently flew up behind the colt before shouting, at the top of his lungs. "DEATH TO TOMATOES" Before falling to the ground in a fit of laughter. *Nice...seriously, nice job...you're hilarious.* *Aren't I just?* He thought, calming down enough to slowly push himself back up to his hooves. "Oooooh you're a hoot, Slicer." He said, still giggling.

Sitting in the cabin of his ship, Raptor sighed when he heard the news about Luna. On the one hand talon, any threat made against the princess's life was a kind of small victory in his books, but on the other hand talon, a failed attempt didn't exactly get them anywhere. In fact, it was something of a detriment, really, as it could boost the coalition's morale. That, and whenever he heard  about a botched assassination, he couldn't help but feel that he could have done better. He was a hunter by nature after all.

"Sire I have a surprise for you." Max said.

"And what could that be? Lunch?"

"While you were asleep I drove the ship to Canterlot. I know you wanna see Luna."

"You drove the ship to-" Gold's eyes widened. "YOU DROVE THE SHIP TO CANTERLOT!?"

"I knew you would like it, Sire."

"We're supposed to stay out of Canterlot you-" Gold stood up.

"Alright then... get my glasses and vest."

"Right away, Sire." Max said as he ran away.

Gold facehoofed.

*He drove the ship to Canterlot!? What in the world was he thinking?*

Max suddenly came back.

"Sire, I have acquired your clothing items."

Gold put his vest and glasses on.

"A'ight then. Let's go I guess."

After Gold and Max walked aimlessly, they finally made it to downtown.

"We should be able to see Luna from here, Sire."

"Yes... or we could have watched her from the TV......"

Goldwrench shook his head and sat onto a well,  Max lying down infront of him.

(So...I read this earlier, then I never replied. I'm clever like that, you see)

Metal Gear jumped up, dropping his bag on the ground and spilling some of its contents "BUCK! Jaysus Slice! What'chya go doin' that for?! 'Taint funny!" He grumbled as he scrambled around the floor of the ship trying to gather his supplies up again. "Ah - dammit! Where's that thing gone now! Y'happy Slice? Y'gone 'n' lost yer new power supply."

Slicer, still chuckling, patted Metal Gear on the shoulder before he held up the power supply thingy. "Calm your face. I've got it here." He said. "And it was too funny." He stuck out his split tongue before walking into the ship.

"Eesh Slice, why'd I bother puttin' up with yer sometimes?" He shook his head as snatched the power supply, threw it in is back, tied the back and picked it up. Metal Gear walked into the ship behind slicer, taking a left at the stairs and making his way to his room.

As he opened the door, the room revealed itself to be a complete mess of gears and cables, half completed or failed experiments and a total mess of papers and blueprints all over the place.

He sighed happily, dumping his bag on the table and turning on the desk lamp  before he made his way over to a file cabinet that was overflowing with multicoloured pieces of paper. Taking one in his mouth, he turned to the desk and took out a pencil and began scribbling away at a new design. "Bloody crazy pony...don't believe...stupid sometimes..." he mumbled to himself as he worked.

"Oh stop you're making me blush." Slicer chuckled again before walking towards the small galley to count the bits he had made, and split them up evenly for Metal Gear and himself. *Metal gear finds you annoying Slicer...just off him and take the money for yourself.* "No no no no no...no...no. HAHAHA...no." Slicer said, out loud, putting half the bits into his coin purse before taking the rest to Metal Gear's room. "Sooooooo...I beat these ponies at the bar...drinking contest or something. Anyway, I just split it up so here ya go 95...5, me getting the 95 of course." He snickered. "I'm joooking. 50 50...as usual."

There was no hesitation on Metal Gear's part, his eyes practically turned into bits themselves as he threw down his pencil and jumped up, taking the coins and dumping them in his own coin purse. "Ah knew there was a reason!" He smiled and flung his forelegs around Slicers neck, pulling him down and squeezing him. "So, how many were it this time? A dozen? More? Less?" he asked, practically bouncing up and down as he spoke.

Storm had reached her destination. The couriers were early, and were already heading over to knock on the door. She stopped them by calling "Hey! Is that my package?". The stallion who had already unloaded the cargo from his ship asked "Miss Mayflower?" - "Yeah, that's me" was the lie he got in response. She thanked the stallion and gave him a tip.

She unpacked her laptop and entered the id numbers printed on the box to order a new courier who would bring the weapons in the crate to her client. She had nothing to do but wait, so she put her laptop on the big wooden box and sat on it herself. To pass some time she summoned some small plastic bags from her pack containing filters, paper, tobacco and grass.

After just seconds she was interrupted by a message on her laptop and a ringing noise in the ear-piece she wore to call clients. The name on screen had her wondering, Why would he call after so long? Maybe it's a trap!. She decided to reach for a button on the headset that would accept the connection.

She let a few seconds of silence pass after opening the connection, mainly because she was distracted by the joint she was rolling. "What do you want?" she said with a characteristic aggressive tone.

I cheated of course." He laughed and tossed his coin purse into the air. "Anyway...we need to get ourselves a real job now. I heard something about a changeling attack on the princess...but I am guessing there is a ton of other ponies trying to stop it, so I think they would just get in the way...there's gotta be something to do around here." He said, still hugging Metal Gear.
