writing Poem: Beauty and Dreams

Now, I'm going to be fair and warn you. It's a love poem. You've been fairly warned.

 

So, I wrote this poem July of 2010, entered it in a contest, and it ended up being published.

 

It's something I put a lot of heart into, and at the time I had the inspiration to write it. It's one of my favourite works and is also a bit of a look at my soft side (tough on the outside, soft in the inside). Enjoy.

 

Beauty and Dreams

Your eyes shine bright like the stars.
For you my feet move with firm pace.
Your gentle touch mends these scars.
To the end the shield protects your grace.
Truth standing strong between us,
There's no need to hide from fear.
Our hand in hand bond our truss.
Our brave world shining so clear.
But such shame this is only a dream.
Such shame these eyes must open.
This one day be real the heart deems.
There always be a beacon.
For now these dreams must be free.
For now patience must agree.
