Out Of Character

I guess it started when the lights went out, and everybody started runnin' round in circles trying to figure it out.

~Bloody Poetry-Grieves~

---

When they first told her, Pluse told them they were mad.

A support group for prisoners? The idea was simply absurd; no one would listen to anyone tell them what to think, what to do, particularly not cutthroat, high-security prisoners.

And then they told her it wasn't optional.

The preservation of her "mental health and mortal soul" was not on the top of the list for Pluse's priorities, but that didn't matter, because getting out of jail was; if this sped up the process, then full speed ahead was the right idea.

Unlike those surrounding her, Pluse wasn't in the lockup for a murder (though she had racked up a body count), or for torture, or anything of the sort-rather, she was in there for running away, which seemed rather stupid to her. They bred her in a lab, and when their creation gets loose and does what it was born to do, they all freak out?

Despite this, she was more irritated at the fact that she was caught; she had failed to cover her tracks as effectively as she might have and a carnivore pony tended to leave a trail in their wake.

As she brooded on this fact for the thousandth time, she heard the sound of creaking as the cell door opened. Pluse got out her claws, but she saw it was in vain; the guards were in full armour (like every day) and they shackled her up and put iron shoes on her claws and a muzzle over fangs (like every day) and dragged her into a small room (that wasn't like every day, because she had never seen it before.)

Seating her, she was strapped into the chair before the muzzle was taken away, though they never took her shoes. She sat in silence, waiting for the others. The psychiatrist came in, a large, friendly looking mare with a purple coat and blue eyes, and she smiled at Pluse, a smile so fake that the earth pony hybrid thought her face would bust.

"You can stop," she said, with some irritation. "I'm not a child."

The psychiatrist didn't seem to be listening because she beamed even wider and extended a hoof. "You must be Pluse! I've heard so much about...you!" she said, and she faltered, the emphasis she had made on "so" making in obvious that it wasn't pleasant at all. Shrugging, the hybrid shrugged, jangling her cuffs, to show she couldn't shake. Instantly, as though she thought her captive was trying to escape her cuffs. The captive in question snorted as the doctor tried to brush it off, and then the latter sat down as they waited for the guards to escort the others inside.

Even as they waited, trouble was brewing.

Having already tried and failed at his daily attempt to chew through the bars that held him, Scurry sighed and went back to trying to dig a tunnel instead. Diamond Dogs were good at digging after all. Of course, ever since they'd moved him into a cell with a metal floor, his progress seemed to have ground to a halt. But it's not like he had anything better to do anyway, at least, not until they came to take him to the new support group.

He'd first heard about the support group a little while ago, and he still wasn't sure what to think about it. But if nothing else, at least it would give him another chance to prove he wasn't a greedy, jewel-crazed psychopath like the rest of his kind- After all, they had just left all those diamonds sitting there, how could they not expect someone to take them? Admittedly, the security cameras and plexiglass case probably should have been a red flag, and the armed guards were a bit questionable, but still, who just leaves diamonds sitting out in the open where anyone could see them? Even if out in the open was actually in a locked, privately owned building. They were just so...shiny. Of course somebody was going to try and take them. And just because he was a Diamond Dog, that automatically meant he was a thief. Ridiculous.

Just as he was reflecting once again on how unfair his imprisonment was, guards showed up to take him to the support group. Of course, first they had to put him in handcuffs... and a muzzle. Really, the muzzle seemed a bit demeaning for a creature that was part dog, as if he was a common mutt, but he couldn't really blame them after the time he almost bit a guard's leg off when they tried to take him out without one.

Eventually he arrived in the support group to see he was the second one there. He didn't recognize the other prisoner, though. He decided it would be best to just sit and wait for things to begin.

Sunset was trembling in her cell in the prison, trying to keep from having another panic attack, as she knew nopony would try to help. She'd already had three this week. She didn't belong here. She was scared. She wanted to go home.

The small Pegasus kept quivering as she tried to curl into a ball and whimpered.

She had been told about the support group and dint know what to think. What if the others were murderers? Well... Surely... They'd be hoofcuffed...

Right?

After a little while, the guards came in and pulled her harshly into a standing position and shoved cuffs on her wings and hooves. She squeaked. She was always so quiet and too afraid to fight them, so they didnt give her a muzzle. They took her to a small room with two ponies and a diamond dog. They sat her down in the chair on one side of who seemed to be the psychiatrist and roughly strapped her in.

Fireblaze emerged right into her cell door in the prison, watching as the cell door bars slammed behind her back. She looked across the hall of the other cell doors while she was still clinging on her bed in her cell room. She was pretty eager to get out of her cell since, she has not seen the light of day ever since she was arrested.

The guards opened the cell door bars, and started to signal her to come out of the cell door. She started to walk out of the cell door, following the guards to a room with an psychiatrist and two other ponies. The guards sat her down in a chair, strapped her in for the psychiatrist's protection and well being.

Snow Shine awoke with a start, seeing the angry-looking guard standing over her. She felt numb as he pulled her roughly to her feet. Pain pulsed through her horn suddenly, and she cried out, looking around, gasping. Her cell was a wreck, and four or five gruff guard ponies, all armed to the teeth were cleaning up the mess. "More bad dreams?" snickered one of them, and she looked around at the mess she'd accidentally created in her sleep, a thick layer of rime clinging to everything, icicles hanging precariously from the ceiling. Snow grudgingly allowed the guard ponies to drag her, with swords pressed up against her throat, to the reformation room.

Biting back tears at the emotional turmoil that came to her after using magic, she glanced around at the other three shackled ponies in the room.

The psychiatrist looked around, beaming fakely.

"It appears we only have a few more ponies that need arrive!" she said in a forced cheery tone as she lifted her pen to scribble some notes on her clipboard (as if she was actually doing work, thought Pluse scornfully.)

She noticed that one of the prisoners appeared to be in a sad state, and Pluse felt another rush of anger. She hated the weepy ones; they had committed a crime, same as all others, and acting like they hadn't done anything and crying every moment of the day was aggravating. The other two seemed stoic and fine, a diamond dog and a unicorn, and the new arrival looked as if she was in pain. She spun around in her chair best as she could, as the shrink seemed absorbed in her work, and engaged the sniffly one in conversation.

"Stop your play-acting," she said a bit sharply. "What are you even here for? Let me guess, stealing from a shop or something." She gave a barking, wolfish laugh. "But I guess they put you in with us bad guys all the same. Tell me, do we disgust you? Do you look down on us?"

She looked at the others too, and added, "and why are you all here?"

"Why am I here?" says Snow Shine, giggling with a hint of innuendo mixed in. "Why am I here? Oh, I'm not quite sure. I was mid-way through showing down some loudmouth unicorn in a magic duel, and she didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell." Snow laughs obscenely. "Next thing I know, ouch!" The perverted pony's amused expression briefly flickers to that of pain, as she attempts to feel her horn, but is stopped by her shackles. Snow growls, unable to touch her horn as agony lances through it. "Someone get these off of me..." she whines to a nearby guard. "...they hurt. I promise I won't touch anypony." she says, whimpering.

Sunset squeaked as the mare snapped at her.

"N-n-no... I-I w-was forced...." She whimpered, but she was interrupted by the newcomer. She doubted she could have been heard anyway, with her voice so tiny. After the unicorn stopped talking, she made herself speak again, but couldn't raise her voice.

"I-I don't look d-down on you... I-I-I have no right to, n-not even before this happened... I w-won't deny that I-I did what I d-d-did... B-but that doesn't mean I wanted to... Or that I would d-do it again..."

Snow raises an eyebrow as she turns to look at Sunset, as if she hadn't noticed the Pegasus before. Shine laughs. "Anyone have a megaphone?" she drones sarcastically, testing the strength of her shackles, and rolling her eyes at the smiling psychiatrist.

((Hey, Silent Dawn. Were you planning on sticking around for What Lurks in the Woods?))

Fireblaze looks over at the other ponies in line for the psychiatrist, thinking about what might happen to her while she is waiting in line. The guards come back, grabbing her by the arm taking her into the line, looking across at the ponies waiting. They drop her off at the line standing behind a huge line of ponies, rolling her eyes at the line.

'' This line is definitely going to be taking a long time.'' Her eyes start to get drowsy at the long wait.

"Surely, you can't be falling asleep yet, little unicorn." mocks Snow, sneering. "Without your teddy bear and blanket and being tucked in by mama? Who knew it was possible!"

Snow throws her head back, laughing, but the true reason she does so is to look backwards to see what was behind her, beneath the notice of the guards. She begins mentally counting them. One... two... three... four...

Sunset hid behind her mane further at the mare's comment. She knew her voice was quiet, no need to point it out. Well, at least the unicorn hadn't pointed out her scars yet.

The small Pegasus shifted uncomfortably in her shackles. She wondered how many more ponies were going to come.

((Sorry, I'll post soon, I just have to figure out how to put Sunset's response into 800 characters. Are you still going to be part of the Moon 6 RP? we're waiting for you there.))

@,

((Sorry I didn't post for days. I only just realized I wasn't following this thread.))

Scurry huffed. "Why am I here? Injustice! Prejudice! They think because I'm a diamond dog I must be a thief! I just wanted to look at the jewels... to touch them... maybe even hold them. I couldn't help it, they're so... shiny." His mouth practically watered at the thought of them. "But they find me and they call me burglar! I never stole jewels! I stole nothing!"

As the line started to become shorter, Fireblaze decided to try to skip the line just to see the psychiatrist early instead of waiting her turn. The guards grabbed her by the arms, sending her back to her spot in line. '' Stay in line, scum!'' , the guards shouted out at her while she had a very smug expression on her face.  ''So I guess, that I can't skip the line?'' She said, out loud to the guards. She thought to herself, wondering why she was here in the first place. '' Why am I even here?''

...five... six... "Probably so you can be kicked, cause a lot of ponies I know oftentimes get a kick out of kicking loser ponies like you." says Snow, her cold, blue eyes quickly flickering from one guard to another. ...seven... eight... ni - no, that one's not a guard... nine... ten...
