Instant Notifications are not Instant.

I often like to follow threads instantly, and so I set it as such after I post on a thread. Basically, the notification icon blinks and I get a notification in an instant while I'm still on a forum page. It's very useful for roleplaying because it lets me know I can start posting my own part to the roleplay and helps to advance the roleplay.

 

Now, it's happened twice this week. When I browse the forum, the notification icon stops working and I don't receive my notification until I refresh the page, which is pretty annoying. I also used to get a (insert number) on my Google Chrome tab with MLPForums on to let me know of a notification, but that also disappeared. 

 

Any ideas on how this problem can be remedied?

The application that runs our instant notifications went down and never automatically restarted itself. It's back up now
