"I think you left them near the couch, sweetie." Kaz shouted as Bass rummaged around the bathroom. "Where's this gig even at tonight?" Kaz asked, puzzled as to what he should wear. Eventually, Kaz settled on a long and airy white number to match his coat and loosely fit him, it appeared to look like a dress though. "So, what do you think?" Kaz asked whilst crossing his front hooves and trying to appear as attractive as possible.

"Oh, gotcha." Bass uttered, remembering now how he had tossed the shades when they returned. As he re-entered the main room of the apartment, he answered the stallion's first question. "This club that's sponsored by Hoof Beat... uhh, real corny name, I think it was like 'Trot Spot" or something, but they're paying well, so I don't really care heh." He then looked over to Kaz, floating his shades back to his forehead as he did so. "Oh, that... uh.. looks nice.. You sure you want something so loose on while at a club, though?" The tan unicorn queried.

"I don't know..." Bubble's face twisted into a frown as she flicked an ear. "Last night this colt kept telling me he loved me and wanted to share a room with me..." She started to explain.

"Then some pony got really angry because I didn't know his coltfriends name this morning... Just stuff like that." She said.

Pondah frowned when he heard Bubble's story. "That first pony sounds a bit over-confident." Pondah said. "Sounds like you had a pretty awkward evening and morning. Let's try and have a good day today." Pondah turned to Bubble and gave her a reassuring smile.

"Perhaps, if we have a really good day, I'll be on top of furniture and not underneath it." Pondah said jokingly.

"Yeah, like I said... weird." Bubble grinned at his joke as they wandered through the town. She saw a few places that looked interesting, but nothing in particular caught her eye. 'Oh! I could go there sometime! But I don't really need a new... Oh! look at that! Huh, it's closed...'

"This is planned out all wrong! The entertainment venues are all spaced out in such a way that you cant pinpoint a direction to locate a specific service: theres no order to it!" She scowled at the terrible town planning before her thoughts wandered elsewhere. "I still don't really know who you are Ponder. Where are you from?"

"It's not that loose." Kaz said looking down at himself. "Is it...?" Kaz pulled and played with his outfit to try and make it a little tighter. "Would you prefer me in something a bit tighter?" Kaz said with a wink and walked back to the wardrobe to find something else to wear.

Bass rolled his eyes with a smile at the the loosely dressed unicorn. He then looked around the room and realized he didn't have anything to wear. "Oh, uh... Oh well. All I need is my shades anyway." The stallion then proceeded to go throw on his saddlebag and levitate a bunch of disks into it, going over his planned set in his head. "I'm about ready! Hurry up, now babe!" He added a laugh to his command to show it was playful, and sat down to wait for his partner to finish dressing.

Upon being asked where he was from, Pondah broke into a frown and he became more reserved. He sighed. "It's a strange story. I may be feeling sad once I've recounted it." he told Bubble. "Whilst I have lived in Ponyville for all 16 years of my life, I was born in Cloudsdale. Both my parents were Pegasi and when I was born, my parents were pretty hacked off when I turned out to be an Earth Pony. I was placed in Ponyville. I would occasionally be given food but otherwise, I never saw them." Pondah's lip begam to quiver. "Eventually,at the age of seven, I was abandoned. I had to forge my own living and I was always hungry and starving. It hurt to gallop, it hurt speak, it hurt..." Tears ran down Pondah's face as his sadness made his speech indecipherable.

"Oh! I'm sorry Pondah!" Bubble panicked, tears welling in her own eyes at the pain she seemed to have caused. 'Bubble you foal! You KNEW he had an upsetting past!'

She considered simply running away from the situation: pretending it hadn't happened, getting to the train station... Of course, she couldn't Pondah was her friend, she couldn't leave him - especially like this. Instead, she hesitantly reached forward and put her forelegs around his neck in an awkward hug: hoping that he didn't take offense or hate her too much for what she had said.

'Stay calm, me. Remember what happened last time you got angry at her.'

Pondah flinched as Bubble put her forelegs round his neck. This act of kindness restored Pondah's speech to an understandable state. "It's fine. You wanted to know, you were told. You have every right to know if you want to." Pondah said, trying to sound assuring. But again, Pondah had another thought on his mind. "This thing you're doing with your legs, what is it?"  Pondah asked. "I've never seen it before."

"I... uh... what?" She stalled. "It... I'm... It's a hug! It's..."

She was almost entirely out of her depth: but at least it was something that she thought she knew about. She might not know about abandonment or pain, of resentment or even of something as simple as loneliness: not really.

But she did know about friendship.

"It's not fair what happened to you. I don't want you to be sad, you deserve to be happy!"

((sorry, been busy and not sure what to say. as usual. :/))

Sunny smiled and nuzzled Candy back. She felt so serene; the kiss had been wonderful, and it meant so much to her that Candy had returned the kiss. She knew she had to be careful; they had just met yesterday, after all. She knew how she felt about this mare, and now, how Candy felt about her, and she didn't want to lose that.

"It was..." she replied. She smiled back at Candy. "

No need to thank me, if anything I should be thanking you for returning the kiss," she half-joked.

Pondah's tears began to stop. He gingerly put his forelegs around Bubble and returned this new hug concept. When he heard Bubble's statement, he felt a smidgen happier.

"At least somepony wants me to be happy..." Pondah replied in a whisper.

'Hm... I've got enough to work with here. If you want to keep her happy, act and seem happy. Don't be too over the top or she'll know something's up. You can thank me later.'

"Of course I do!" Bubble said to him as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Everypony deserves to be happy and you're so sad..."

She didn't know enough about his past to really say anything insightful, but she didn't want to dig any deeper. He would tell her if he wanted to, she figured.

"I guess I've been sad for so long, it's become the only thing I know. Sadness is my standard, neutral emotion." Pondah said. His tears had stopped and he hugged Bubble less gingerly. "Why don't we change that?" Pondah asked. "You know so much about the mystical art of happiness. Enlighten me in the path of joy."

'Sounds like you know what you're doing now. The voice in your head will be back later to check on things. Bye!'

When I typed 'mystical', auto-type thought my next word would be 'doughnut'...

Bubble would most certainly agree with your auto-type.

"Enlighten...?" Bubble echoed. "I don't know if it's something you can teach. I don't think I'm too great at teaching.either. I tried to teach my sister how to do her mane once... she ended up setting it on fire."

She giggled a little at the memory.

"Uhm, I'd like to try and help though. If I can."

"And Bubble's new word for the day is..." :P

Acoustic Cloud's eyes slowly drifted open. He rolled over to look at the clock on his bedside stand.  "Ah, crap!" He said as he realized the day had just slipped passed as he was fast asleep.

As quickly as he woke up, he got himself together and entered the living room to enjoy a nice snack as he lay down and relaxed on the couch.

Candy simply chuckled, "Thank me later, we can do it again." She winked.

She was ecstatic. She had to cut it short when a waiter came. The two mares quickly gave their orders, and not long after, recieved their food. Candy wasted no time devouring her salad, and expected that Sunny would do the same. She tried to not pig out too much in front of her new marefreind though. "Marefreind, that's a nice thought. Is it even right to call her that yet? Is it too early?" She kept questioning herself in her mind, while drinking her apple juice. "Hey...Sunny?" She sort of blushed, "Are we...are we marefreinds now?" Her very faint blush turned to that of a much more visible one.

Pondah began to smile again. "A try is good enough for me." he said. Pondah removed his forelegs from around Bubble and exited the hug. "You ready to carry on, sensei?" he queried. Pondah's tears had completely ceased and he rubbed his face with a forehoof to remove any salty residue on his face.

"Sure!" The joyous smile returned almost immediately as Bubble started to happily move down the street again. "What else haven't you done before? Have you... had sweets for breakfast?" She ventured this complex question into his lifestyle.

"Oh! Have you been to the movies? Or ridden a Chimera?" She asked enthusiastically as if these were both everyday occurrences. "I mean, I haven't done that... But it would be cool if you had!"

"I sometimes have cake for breakfast if I'm lucky." Pondah told Bubble. "I can't say I've ever had a ride on a chimera and I've definitely never been to a cinema." The idea of a chimera ride summoned up a picture in Pondah's mind of him on the back of a chimera that he was merciless to chuckle at.

Pondah racked his brains to think of other things he'd never done. "Well... I've never had a three-course meal, I've never had a two-course meal, I've never been full, I've never loved or been loved, I've never had a pet, I've never had a job, I've never played a board game and I've never found my calling in life. And that's to name just a few. My life really is empty..."

"Well..." Bubble said, bouncing in place from almost pure excitement. "Let's go do some of that stuff!" She squeaked happily.

"Theres lots of places the do things like that around here!" She stated the obvious, given the lights of the various establishments nearby. "No wandering around waiting for things to happen to you today! What do you wanna do first?"

A rumble from Pondah's stomach answered the question and caused him to blush slightly. "Something to eat would be nice. You can pick the spot as I have no clue what is around here. Lead the way, teacher."

'Why? Why is she so eager to please? She only wants other ponies to be happy and nothing else. Why?'

@,

"Me neither!" She beamed happily, looking around the street for somewhere nearby. "What about there? That looks nice!"

Bounding up to what looked like a not-too-fancy restaurant, she peered in the window: admittedly it hadn't been that long since breakfast but swimming had made her feel hungrier than she would have otherwise. "They have all sorts! What kind of food do you like?"

(SINCE I HAVEN'T SEEN AL CAPONY POST, I'M CALLING THE MOVIE DONE)
I walked out of the movie theater, giggling. "That was the worst movie...wait, where's..." I shrugged, not able to find Al. I wandered a bit around, looking at paintings and buildings until my stomach growled. I had a few bits left over, so I guess I could go grab something to eat.
As I made my way to a not-so-shabby restaurant, I saw a familiar face..."Hey, Bubble!" I said, walking over to her.

Bubble's current question was finally one about him he could answer on the spot. "I'm not picky." he said. "I'll eat pretty much any food aside from fermented fruit."

Pondah had good reason for his food ideas. As he had been scavenging for most of his life, being a fussy eater would only have lead to an early death. As for fermented fruit, his father was alcoholic. By not ingesting any alcohol, it made him feel as separated from his father as possible.

"How will I pay for my food with no money?" Pondah asked.
