Sky Warden 2,243 July 31, 2013 Share July 31, 2013 (edited) Seriously? Seriously Guiz? We all know how serous the Internet is. We're a no-joke zone, where only the toughest of the tough can survive. So the weak ones must not prevail? The weak ones don't deserve information? How will they grow strong then? How can you learn what's never shown? Guess what. The actual serious matter is that security people try to make the Internet safer for everyone, by spending hours coding filters, making patches, endless nights of system monitoring, countless cups of coffee, sacrificed social life, growing piles of books to study, and a huge effort to convince people that security is important in our technology because most people don't bother to give a shit about safety as long as they can gain stuff from the Internet, but some idiots want to make a joke by posting inappropriate and sickening contents so they can laugh at people's vomits. Just a personal opinion. I hate people who are playing as the tough guys who can't be sickened by gore. What the hell is wrong with a lot of these parents? Shanks 10,816 July 31, 2013 Share July 31, 2013 Just a personal opinion. I hate people who are playing as the tough guys who can't be sickened by gore. Who is acting like a tough guy? I can't speak for everyone here but while I am not sickened by gore I am often bored with it, unless it is so over the top that it is comical like Cupcakes for example I am either neutral on it or just bored. But just because something may or may not be my cup of tea dosen't give me the right to dictate whether or not is should exist. What the hell is wrong with a lot of these posters? You don't leave a gore content unsupervised on the Internet. It is their damn fault this happened. And exactly what do you expect people who make gorefics and videos to do? They have no control over how search engines or filters work so the best they can do is to make sure it has the proper tags on sites that allow it and not post it where it is prohibited or dosen't belong. But that dosen't guarantee that everyone is going to behave unfortunately. Rarity Get's Cockroaches

That doesn't smell like a joke at all, and yes, I'm a ridiculously serious person. See that avatar? For me, everything in this place outside the forum lounge is serious. That post isn't just for you after all. It's for those who think that the Internet is only for adults. Who is acting like a tough guy? Who said I was referring to you? They have no control over how search engines or filters work so the best they can do is to make sure it has the proper tags on sites that allow it and not post it where it is prohibited or dosen't belong. Sad thing this sweet theory doesn't apply in real life. I also see no reason why people should post sickening gore shits on the Internet other than to troll others. Let's go back on topic, since I'm tired and I've put my points here: stop blaming parents for this kind of stuff. You can't babysit them for 24 hours, and many idiot trolls out there post inappropriate contents. Kids deserve information and technology. You can't blame them unless they look for the stuff themselves. The only problem is to know how to behave like sane men. Edited July 31, 2013 by Aerial Stream Pinkeh asked me to put this here. Dr. Eggnog 203 July 31, 2013 Share July 31, 2013 Oh, yes, of course. The Internet is only for adults. The inventor indeed meant it to be so. Oh, wait. Kids can see people making out in the street as well. That kind of stuff isn't for children. I know! Why don't we just take off every kids eyes so they don't have to see horrible things in life? We can blind them! OH! There's still bad words coming out from angry people out there. That's not nice either. Let's cut off our children's ears too. That will solve all problems. You know, it's ridiculous to waste our breaths just because of one ignorant rant. I suppose then, prevent what you can prevent and don't worry about what you can't. Sure, you can't keep kids from seeing/hearing everything bad, but I think some of the bad stuff online is worse than what one generally sees on a daily basis. Plus, I think it's a little easier to explain making out or bad words than extreme violence or porn starring what appear to be cute children-orientated ponies. I love you. ~Scootaloo 440 July 31, 2013 Share July 31, 2013 So, to end this short rant, I'd like to say one thing to parents who encounter this thread: be smart and always keep watch over your young child while he/she is on the internet, and don't blame others for scaring your child.Ya! keep your children bottled up in a plastic bubble, and don't let them experience anything questionable. That'll totally prepare them for the real world. 1 By Kyoshi

That'll totally prepare them for the real world.I'd say its more along the lines of when is the appropriate age for what? Obviously, you wouldn't discuss sex with your 4yo, but neither should you deny such valuable information too late; after they've gained the potential to hurt themselves or others emotionally because they lacked the proper knowledge. In this case, somebody under 7 should probably not watch Rainbow Factory simply because their brain lacks the emotional development to handle such imagery. Then again, it's not always so much about age as it is emotional development and maturity level, which fluctuates from child to child. Remi 1,309 July 31, 2013 Share July 31, 2013 Wow people why are you taking this whole scenario bloody serious? It's most likely a troll comment, because I've seen comments like such in far too many comment sections. Secondly, although the Internet is not the safest place for a child, they are exposed to it far more than children were 5 - 20 years back. They are given the use of smart phones, laptops and tablets at a very young age, and of course, via those electronic appliances, they can access the Internet. Now, of course, the parent could have enabled some age restrictions onto the browser, or not let the child use the Internet at all, seeing as how 4chan is the home of everything Internet. Also, it depends on how mature the child is, will also take part in how the video or the content affects the child. So it's really the fault of everyone. The parent for not restricting some uses of the Internet, and [i mean this in no form of offense], the uploaders of the content. I'm not saying you should stop uploading these type of creations, however, you were a key part into finding the video, regardless. Now, is it your fault the child found this video? No, you did not lure her into it, the child might have been curious, however, if the parent were to set that the child ask him to preview the video to see if it was/is appropriate or not, that would have saved her as well. Of course this is assuming the comment is true, however the chances of that are extremely slim. Take Me Out.
IronPonyApplejack 318 July 31, 2013 Share July 31, 2013 People....if the comment was serious, here's the point. The father is threatening legal action. Not only can he not actually do that, it shows that he has the maturity of a 10 yr old. I agree that no parent can keep watch over their child 24/7. In fact, if you could, that would be a reeeeally bad idea. Would result in a messed up child, more than likely. That said, threatening the person who made the video is not even close to the right response. It's the friggin' Internet. If you go poking around, even on YouTube, you will find messed up stuff. Flag the video, tighten up your parental controls (if possible), and comfort your child. Do what is in your own power to prevent the incident from happening to her again. But threatening legal action? GROW UP. If you're at all familiar with #Twitterponies, you can find me there! ~Master~ Button Mash 2,307 July 31, 2013 Share July 31, 2013 (edited) You know what I would do in that situation? Mark as spam. Problem solved. They have no real power legally. Rustling someone's jimmies isn't a crime. If he's a troll than no harm no foul. On the off chance this is real, if anything it's a teachable moment for the daughter and father about internet content. Either way it's not worth your time. Just keep calm, mark as spam, and move on.
