gaming Anypony else remember Disgaea? (HoD more specifically?)

Well I just asked because the game seems to be forgotten by most everyone. They act like it never existed

And yes, I have quite fond (Disgaea:HoD) memories, and still hung on to that game. I actually still have it, but since I don't have some things I need to play it, I can't find some cables I need to get my PlayStation 2 running. Note: of course there will probably be a few spoilers for some people who didn't finish (I didn't either, I'm stuck on the final boss battle)

 

I remember all the LV. 1000 enemies lol. That level system was ridiculous. It went above 9000.

 

And SPOILER (I believe this is in episode 3, unsure) (because for some reason it won't let me use the BB Code for spoilers)(Laharl's dislike of anything love related in the beginning was ridiculous

 

Yes I know there will be some (probably many) Who've played Disgaeas 3 or 4, but I'm referring to the original title, that's like 12 years old.

How could anyone forget? NIS keeps adding the Laharl, Etna and Flonne to all the Disgaeas (free of charge even!).

 

I actually only played the Afternoon of Darkness version of Disgaea 1. I was more concerned with playing Disgaea 2 at the time so there's quite a bit of post game stuff I missed out on for the Disgaea 1 but at least I picked up all the endings (except the item world one, if that ending even existed in that game).

 

It's kind of a side note but I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel, Disgaea D2

Well I've hardly ever seen anyone else whos ever heard of the game, I know it is quite the shock and the shame really. It's one of the best games ever made I think.

The first Disgaea is definitely in my top five games. The story is hilarious and pretty deep at the same time and the gameplay is ludicrusly in depth. I've only played the first and second, sadly, since I don't have a Vita or PS3. Hopefully I can afford a Vita at some point so I can get my hands on 3, 4 and D2.

 

I feel that I have to add that I preferred Final Fantasy Tactics. Both great games, of course.

My favorite character from Disgaea Hour of Darkness is Flonne. I love all of the characters but Flonne is the best.

Yeah, I'm pleasantly surprised whenever someone's actually heard of Disgaea, having played Disgaea is even better. My friends that play Disgaea have played all of them, same as me.

 

I wonder if you can even appreciate the cameos the characters make in the later games if you haven't played the first one. I played Disgaea 2 first so Laharl and Flonne were completely new to me (I left Etna out because, as far as I knew at the time, she was just part of the current story like Adell and Rozalin).
