Dragon Nest. Heard of it?

Maybe even have played it?

Maybe even PLAY it? (still play it to this day)

Didn't see a thread on this, so I guess I could start one up.

I started playing Dragon Nest a week ago, and I've spent a hundred dollars on it. I enjoy the game, and it's much more casual-friendly than the other games Nexon has. Much more quality, too.

I want to have a discussion with anybody around these forums about the game.

Also, anybody else can give the game a shot. Just look it up.

If you heard bad things about it maybe a long time ago and didn't give it a shot, try it. I hear that Nexon is HORRIBLE with it the first year, but are now doing a LOT better today.

It's not doing as good as Maplestory since Maplestory is their flagship game with a six year advantage.

It's got the characters/story, community, and gameplay that keeps me playing.

PSSST. We have 12 year old time-traveling girls with robot butlers named "Alfredo" The little girl also summons turrets controlled by robotic ducks.

Oh boy, I've definitely had my share of DNest adventures. Everyone sit down as I tell you a lil ditty of a girl once obsessed with Dragon Nest *strums lute*

I started playing closed beta in August 2011, and I absolutely LOVED it. I was one of the first people to get to the level cap (lv24 at the time). Those were the Golden Ages of DNest imo. I made a lot of really lovely friends who I still chat with to this day. Everyone was playing for the same reason as I was, which was to explore and just have fun! I started a guild that became mildly popular during this time period. I remember when Minotaur Nest was released... everyone farming for orange loot hehe. I played an acrobat named Bloop during this time, so if you saw me, hi!

I stopped playing once PVP was added. The community dynamic changed drastically. PVP guilds began forming and a loooot of people became competitive. My own guild started doing PVP too, because who wouldn't? but my gosh, you got to see a lot of them in rare form... angry and yelling and cussing people out... I don't respond very well to negative vibes so I slowly began playing less and less, around the time that people started to realize that Nexon released new level caps on a basis that was comparable to 'glacial'.

I started playing again in May 2012, and wow! So much new content! 40 cap! Saints Haven! I started an alchemist [muffled booing in the background] named Glam who was pretty much the bomb. I made it to level 32 before I joined a guild named Red (now named Moon). I actually met my current boyfriend in this guild hehe as well as quite a few friends. I played pretty regularly until a lil bit after the Jump Event. I made an ice witch named Slushie and holy shit, what an amazing class. 10/10 would recommend. I was a filthy ice stacker in PVP and I had fun for the most part, in spite of the horrendous community (this was during xDizzle's reign of terror of continuously being 'smackt').

I quit in Winter 2012 because I was done professionally with the lag and the lack of updates. It seems to be doing better now but dang... it was really dreadful for a long time. TL;DR: In my experience, DNest is a really great game with a really shitty community. Nonetheless, you should definitely play as far as you stay away from PVP. Also, play ice witch.

Well I did play the game, and actually it was pretty good, it kinda bugs me how like for some reason Nexon makes games where your restricted in gender, which i just find... strange. I mean heck I played DFO for a while, and that even restricts gender to. Seems to be common in Nexon games.

Anyways I played as like 4 of the classes they had when I played each of them till like 12-13 or so I think? It was a pretty fun game, I found it more fun with friends, of course my friends I had quickly stopped playing, and then it stopped working on my computer and then i was just eh.

Its not a bad game, i find it pretty enjoyable, but I didn't spend a ton of time playing, so I don't know alot about it. Haven't played in a while either.

Actually, I believe Nexon gets their games from Korea for us to play.

Also, I think it was a bit necessary to make classes genderlocked.

I play one of the recently released classes, the Tinkerer, and she and her sister are from the future.

Basically, it made more sense story-wise.

I feel like I am making a difference in the world the more specific my characters are.

Something World of Warcraft failed to do. You're just another hero in WoW.

Korean games are heavily storybased it seems.

The main reason why genderlocks exist is mainly because they want to give characters personality.

Yeah I believe they do, my friend was talking about how classes in korea where out for stuff like DFO back when we played that like years before we got it in US.

I kinda get the reason in a way i guess, its just i'm kinda use to being more personalized with my characters, which is why I find it weird to play a female sometimes, idk maybe I don't play enough females in games really :P. Its not really a big deal I guess, I suppose to be fair alot of US games protagonists are male, or you can customize the character.

I also haven't played alot of Dragons nest to get very far in the story, so I don't know a whole ton about how it personalizes and characterizes them. But i'm sure it does and they have their reasons.

Its not bad really, its just, different I guess.

Not many Americans know about the game really. Too busy with CoD and LoL.

Dragon Nest and other games from Nexon really are very different, so yeah.

Honestly, I still would like to keep the game genderlocked.

I like it better that way, and it's easy to tell people apart.
