  1. I love seeing everyone's presents! Here is my haul from this year: I'm mostly excited about Alpha Sapphire (which was a complete surprise! I didn't ask for it because I figured I would just get money to buy it anyway), my cute mushroom pen, and all of my bath bombs and bath fizzies haha. And my hula hoops for circus-y stuff!
  2. @@Jennabun, you are too cute for this world!! Here I aaaam
  3. Ahhh I do meditation and yoga! It's absolutely lovely. Try to do the Sun Salutation every morning, and follow up with a brief five minute meditation. Once you start doing that, it'll just start getting longer and longer, you'll start looking up yoga videos... it's a snowball of mental healthiness and flexibility and positivity. I love running as well ahhh I forgot. I haven't worked out in a while!
  4. ✿ Flow arts (hooping, levi stick, poi, etc.) ✿ Playing my ukulele, mandolin, and ocarina ✿ Learning languages (currently learning Sindarin and Icelandic, and I'm intermediate in Japanese, French, and German!) ✿ Witchcraft and spiritual things (tarot, spells, altar cleansing, crystal healing, reiki - more of a lifestyle than a hobby at this point) ✿ Competitive Super Smash Bros (I main Ness in Melee and Villager in Sm4sh!) ✿ Writing short stories and general (fan)fiction I would like to start making jewelry and cooking! I'm an awful cook, haha. I would also like to learn guitar! I love stringed instruments.
  5. I smoke weed quite a bit, both recreationally and medically - more recently for the latter. I was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and I've been dealing with anxiety/panic disorder my whole life (along with a whole slew of other neurological issues) and it really does help out! I grew up with a lot of my buddies smoking, like, all the time. I get so angry when I hear that people can't get addicted to weed - you absolutely can. Perhaps not medically, but definitely psychologically. I've seen friends be overtaken by smoking, just waking and baking and going to school and complaining all day that they can't wait to take a few bong hits. And then they go home and they text all of us - "hey gonna smoke, wanna come over?" And we all do, yknow? And then, weed becomes more of a thing. Like, an action. You feel as if you have nothing to do, so you just smoke, and that becomes that something. And while you smoke, you don't do anything else! That's the addiction to some, and that's so sad. There's a way to have weed in your life that's not destructive, and the majority of us know how to balance that. It's a shame that there's such a negative connotation connected to something that has been so helpful and healthy for me and many, many other people. However, it seems to be growing more and more positively enforced, which is wonderful. These kinds of comments are so ignorant and sad. I hope that one day, you see the good from a simple plant. You don't have to participate, but at least appreciate and understand the fact that it has the opportunity to help those who do not want to rely on more dangerous chemicals in medication, or for those who can't find any medication that works at all. In fact, it doesn't even have to be for those who need it, but also those who just want to smoke for fun.
  6. Oh my god, is this seriously a real conversation You don't need to go around listing specs to show not only your superiority, but also whatever console you're circlejerking atm. I'm like, at least 95% certain that we all understand that the Wii U isn't as technologically strong as other consoles
  7. ^ This is sooo important. There's a way to feel and show security in oneself without belittling others in the process. Arrogance is immature and appears to be a defense mechanism more than anything else.

@@Mailittlepony, it's no problem! Your art has been amazing, and honestly you should be commissioned for it rather than creating it for free My request is still accurate! Thank you very much for your time and energy put into these pictures. I don't feel as if you've been appreciated as much as you should be.
  10. Its very easy to justify younger MC's silly decisions. Mostly, when a younger character is the protag, it tends to be a coming-of-age or Aesop moral. Adults (while still clueless) tend to have a wider grasp on situations and may act more consciously and proactively than a child - it allows more leeway for drama, internal conflict, and impressionability via other characters. While relatability is important, I doubt that's the largest reason. It's very easy to tell a story through the eyes of a child, because it has the opportunity to make the world they're in more raw, more beautiful. Younger children/preteens are full of 'firsts' in their life, and it makes for good storytelling to depict the beauty of, let's say, a first kiss. A first adventure. A first moment of independence. It's also very safe for writers to write about young protags, which isn't bad! Like I said, young adults are very impressionable and can be molded very easily into whatever the writer wants in that moment, while it would be more difficult to use an adult.
  11. Who the hell cares if that's their motive? You have no idea why people take selfies, so don't put words in anyone's mouths. Also, when did 'vanity' and 'self-obsession' become interchangeable concepts? It seems you need to practice some self-love yourself if you really can't see the difference! This seems to bother you a whole lot - why don't you delete the people who drag you through this selfie hell of yours? I don't usually say stuff like that because it sounds dismissive and doesn't really solve the problem but... there really isn't a problem, other than you getting upset over an irritating issue in your life that seems completely solvable. Yes, clearly. Just because I don't cater to your anti-selfie circlejerk, does not mean I didn't try my best to state my own thoughts on the subject. It's hard to have a discussion when the OP seems adamantly against the entire concept and therefore unresponsive to the responses that don't agree with them. In conclusion: this should've been a blog post!
  12. I think it's less about the topic itself (everyone is entitled to having an opinion, no matter how silly the subject matter is) and more about the delivery, which came off as juvenile. Rather than having this be a discussion, the OP just seemed to use their opening post to write a negatively spun, seemingly-misanthropic rant.
  13. Selfies are a newer, more technologically-advanced and -focused celebration of one's self. People take selfies so they can share parts of themselves at their best, cutest, happiest, most confident with people around them. Because obviously, all that people ever do when they take selfies is... just that. They don't have lives. They wake up, make themselves lovely, and then take pictures all day, wheezing over a computer screen, their hand shaking as they attempt to perfectly clear all blemishes. Once they finished editing their photos, they twiddle their thumbs, awaiting that first 'like'. It feeds them. That's all they do. That's it. It's definitely not a small portion of of their day at all. I'm glad you understood at least one part of selfie culture! People don't take selfies for you, dear. They take them for themselves and the people they love. Additionally, you discussing your "hatred" for humans in general really doesn't drive anything home - it just further proves to me that you clearly don't understand (nor want to understand) why selfies can be such a positively-driving action. The way you worded your OP was less 'questioning' and more 'ranting'. This was probably a little ranty itself, but I'm soooo sick and tired of people thinking that being vain is bad. Why the fuck should you be humble about your self-image? If you love yourself, flaunt it in your own way. One of the easiest and nicest ways to do it is through selfies, and sharing it so that the people who care can all celebrate your beauty as well! It's a beautiful, symbiotic, positive relationship and I don't understand the hate.
  14. It's been a while! The last time I posted a picture I had purple hair, so...

    books The Book Thread

Oh gosh, all I'm doing these days are reading books on books on books. ☆ Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are probably my favorite books ever! They're so well rounded and perfect, and Alice is my spirit human. ☆ I really enjoyed the Dangerous Angels series by Francesca Lia Block. It's super flowery and prose-y - I highly recommend it if you're looking for magical realism with lots of pretty words and vocab! ☆ The Little Prince is what drove me through high school - really great message that I still hold today (it's doubly great for the 'no one understands me!' teenager within you). ☆ And, of course, I love the Harry Potter series. I also tend to associate the Series of Unfortunate Events with it! Both very very wonderful reads. ☆ And, I know this isn't what you asked (and I really don't want to derail this into a 'I don't really read books... I read manga though!' thread) but I feel as if its worth mentioning because I've read the series so many times at this point: Centaur no Nayami is a masterpiece and should be celebrated. Besides all of this, I'm reading a bunch of linguistics textbooks/theories and young adult fantasy novels atm! ... which are kind of polar opposites but that's alright

Ahhh yay! I loved my Petal Spell so much that I want another piece of art from you :-) Name: Lumishroom Reference Pic/Description: Cutiemark: Pictured above! Personality: Very shy and socially awkward due to being a "swamp fungus freak." Extremely clingy to those who show kindness. Soft spoken and kind of sheltered... but you can't really blame her! She was raised by various creatures within the Froggy Bottom Bogg, so she has strange quirks. She's completely harmless and kind, though! Style: I enjoy how clean your style is, so definitely yours! Expression: Glee! Similar to below VVV I'd also like her eyes to be open! Pose: I'd quite like to see her in a carefree pose similar to this!
