For me, it has to be Mass Effect.  Where Dragon Age is a series of disconnected games with no overarching storyline to tie them together, Mass Effect is otherwise, and the idea of choices made in one game affecting the next two makes the scope feel larger and more epic.  Sure, it uses two binary, black-and-white moral-choice give the moral-choices more shades of graymeters in the first and second Mass Effects, and only one in the third, while Dragon Age instead uses relationship values with your party-members.  However, I'm still going to Mass Effect because it spans three games, whereas the first Dragon Age was about fighting the Blight, while the second wasn't about anything at all, really.

What about you?

So is this just a hate on DA2 because it was not a direct sequel to DA1? I honestly do not know what you are expecting here. All I will say is: DA2 was not about the blight. It covered an important story that took place during and after the blight that leads to DA3. Seems pretty connected to me.

Actually, no, that's not the reason.

If anything, I might as well say that I misspoke.  What I should've said about Dragon Age is that DA2's quality isn't really up to snuff with DA:O's.  Unlike the first DA, DA2 has no overarching story-arc to connect all the smaller story-arcs, and its combat, leveling, and customization systems are too scaled down.  It's not like Mass Effects 2 and 3, which do have an overarching storyline to tie together all the smaller storylines, while providing combat systems that allow for versatility, even if the second game is also powerfully scaled down.

Also, as for Metacritic scores, Dragon Age 2 received a 79, while Mass Effects 2 and 3 a 96 and 93, respectively.
