I really should be sleeping, but I got super involved in that coding.  I kind of forgot how fun it could be.  Also, I really needed to derust my Perl skills.  The only other time I had seriously used Perl was for an internship, so I totally forgot a significant portion of the language.  It wasn't too bad to pick up again, but it still took a fair bit of reading online resources (mostly to figure out how to do what I wanted/needed).

 

@, you've been manually maintaining a spreadsheet of progress?  With the rate this thing moves, that sounds a bit laborious unless you do something like catalogue every thousand and the timestamps.

Eh, I suppose it depends on how complex your stuff is and how well you're able to document the crap you do make.  Speaking of the latter, I really hate reading other people's terribly undocumented code.  It can be a huge pain to decipher.

 

Also, I have a damned Associates' Degree in programming.  Even if I don't land a job in my field anytime soon, I'd really like to keep my skills somewhat sharp.  Of course, being able to do such a thing requires having a decent idea of what you're trying to do.  Having goals you're able to reach and a general idea of how to reach them helps tremendously when you're trying to design code.  Half the fun is taking that idea skeleton and fleshing it out.
