If my estimates are correct, with the right plan plus the right unlocked phone, over the course of two years, I can spend $2,670 total on Verizon or $1,429 on AT&T. I feel like this is a no-brainer. And the nature of unlocked phones is that if I get sick of one carrier, I can just jump on to a different one. Except Verizon because they use CDMA instead of GSM like everybody else. The network is better, but I just don't think that it's so good it's worth spending an extra $1,241 over two years for. I guess I'll try AT&T out for a while and if I don't like them after a year, I'll get on with someone else. Probably Verizon again. While I do like their service, their rates are just terrible. But I gues someone's gotta pay for those extra towers. If my estimates are right on that note, I'll only be out about $889 and I won't have any early termination fees to deal with since I won't be locked into a contract. Even on AT&T. I only go visit my parents in Nowhere about half a dozen times a year so I don't think it's going to be that bad. And if it is, again...no contract.
