Good luck Scratchy :squee: Is it a position that requires knowledge of coding/programming etc.? I remember looking before and most of the positions required that sort of knowledge ;_;

2011: A Canada-Grand-Prix for the eternity The longest sunday in the Formula-1-History: 2011 celebrate Jenson Button in Montreal his "greatest victory" - He triumphs over the rain, the nerves and Vettel

Two collisions, one Drive-through penalty, one puncture and all together five Pit Stops. Can someone win a Formula-1-Race like that? It can. Be more specific: Jenson Button can it, as he had shown in the rain chaos from the Canada Grand Prix 2011. The McLaren-Driver saved the victory in the last lap, because Sebastian Vettel done one of his very low mistakes in his world champion years - tought that was nearly normality by four hours motorsport-madness.

149833.jpg

The order: Something hystorical gives to tell in the free practice on friday: The "Wall of Champions", the legendary crash barriers by the exit in the last chicane, found a new victim: Vettel crashes his Red Bull on the place, that before Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve a load of spare parts cost. Is the failed start in the weekend a little problem for the self-confidence of the leading Heppenheimer in the championship?

In the Qualifying shows Vettel unimpressed and catch the Pole-position in front of the Ferrari-duet Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, the 4th place goes to teammate Mark Webber. But at that point, the race track was completly dry. This changes over the night to sunday, when a storm over Montreal brews and trough the ammount of water barely to see anymore, what Ile Notre-Dame and what Sankt-Lorenz-Strom is. The sky seems not to close his floodgate anymore.

149834.jpg

Button-Plague one: Crash with teammate Hamilton

When it at 1 PM, local time, where supposed to start, where still lakes on the race track. And the Weather experts saying more rainfall to come. The Race Control decides, to start the race behind the Safety car, but several drivers can't control there cars in the forced slow driving on the race track already. That counts even more, when Bern Mayländer turn into the pit stop and the lights go to green: Alonso tries hopeless, to catch the leading Vettel, behind them crashing Webber and Lewis Hamilton together.

The Britian cause then more trouble: After he tried his best to catch Mercedes-driver Michael Schumacher and visitting Canadas green grass another time, falls an increasing frustrated Hamilton behind Button back and attacks the teammate in round 8 in the duel for a place in the middle of the field rigorous. When he was not even on half vehicle height on the start-finish lane and Button pulling outwards, comes it to the collision.

Button-Plague two and three: Race control and wrong strategy

149835.jpg

The Champion from 2008 fails out, after the contact with the wall with a broken rear axle and the Safety car needs to come the second time. Button can, like a wonder, still continue the race, but gets short after a extremly controversial Drive-through penalty. Not for the fight with the fellow countryman, because for the driving with overallowed speed behind the Leading car. When he does the penalty, he is last in Round 13.

But he proves his fighting abilities, working himself back to the 8th position, but the next bad luck hits in the next rain showers: He changed short before to Intermediates, that now not even working as arm floats anymore. Another stop by the pit crew throws Button again into the back of the field. What McLaren couldn't foresaw: He just should had stayed on the race track.

The race control orders in lap 20 for the third time the safety car on the race track, because the spume went closer and the standing water more and more. After 6 rounds swimming, Charlie Whiting saw enough: With the red flag is the race takes a forced break, because the own hand on the eyes barely to seen is. The big waiting begins, informations.

Button-Plague four: Alonso Crash with flatfoot

149836.jpg

During the break is it allowed to work on the cars, what already 2 weeks before caused anger. The mechanics could not only enjoy an Espresso, but also four Latte Macchiato, seven Cappuccini and a Five-meal-Menue gönnen: It took until 3:50 PM and with that beaten 2 hours, before the weather allows it, that the race could continue. In Europe is it 9:50 PM and some Formula 1 fan losed already nerves or open eyes.

Who dozes on the TV, missed one of the exciting finals in the young past. As it again started behind the Safety car, is Vettel unchanged leader, behind him fighting Sauber-driver Kamui Kobayashi and Lotus-driver Nick Heidfeld with Massa a duel for the following positions. Shrt after is the race dry enough, to use Intermediates, what Button uses too.

When he came back on the race track at lap 37, he falls behind Alonso and tries by braking before turn three to pass on the. It comes to a race collision, the spaniard spins from the race track and falls out of the race, Button fights his car with a flatfoot back to the pit. Bernd Mayländer collects with his Safety car more leadership kilometers. For the McLaren-Star is it already the 4th pit stop by his crew and he falls back to position 9.

The Tides Turns: Safety car brings Button late luck

149837.jpg

Then rings the hour of Michael Schumacher: The Montreal-Record champion in Mercedes, thanks to a clever drive on the 4th position, use a driving mistake  Kobayashis, that also cost Massa his position, and catches both at once! When he by the re-start after the last Safety car-phase shortly appears next to Vettel, sniffing some already the sensation, but at the end of the dramatic Finish it only stays for the 4th position - because Canada has plenty of infighting left.

In the 56th lap deciding Kobayashi and Heidfeld unintentionally the Grand Prix: The Sauber-driver came in the Senna-S on the wet line and need to break,to not fly of the race track, so that the from behind coming Heidfeld crashes in his rear. By "Quick Nick" dislodge a few metres further the front wing and he crashes before turn 4 in the emergency exit. Still comes the Safety car for the sixth time on the race track, so that the 13,3 seconds behind Vettel for the already 4th placed Button suddenly a winning chance opens.

Vettel: One mistake in 4 hours cost the victory

149838.jpg

A superfluously Heartbeat-moment: By the fast collecting from debris, slips a marshal short behind turn three, what a Sauber-driver sees in time and comes to stop short before the marshal. When the race was free from filth and humans, begins the last act from the Button-Show in lap 64: He passes first Webber, then is Schumacher easy prey, from the whole race leading Vettel catches he really fast to him up.

In the pre-last circulation is Button inside the DRS-Windows and short after 0,9 seconds behind the Red Bull-Star. As everyone expecting a showdown in the DRS-zone before the last chicane, it happens: Vettel cant stand the pressure, under breaking himself in lap 6 and has to let Button pass. He wins after an incredible Roller coaster ride with 2 collisions, a drive trough penalty, a wheel damage and alltogether 5 pit stops as first over the finish line.

149839.jpg

"I don't know, what to say - I'm really touched", is the McLaren-driver speechless. "Even if I hadn't won, I had enjoyed the race a lot. That was probably my biggest victory." The german TV-Watcher, that fighted trough the race, had probably similiar fun with the race. Those, that dreamed already short after 11 PM, where probably frustrated by the Finale furioso, by the longest Formula 1 race in history.

By the way: The incredible race from Montreal 2011 had also consequences for the rules. Today standing it in the Formula-1-rules: A race is, independently from the actual driving time, ended, when 4 hours since the start of the race are done.

Took me over a hour to translate it, but its worth

As much as that does nothing in terms of practicality, that's freaking cool. :o Kinda looks like Hasbro is getting their involvement in the PC chassis industry, if y'know what I mean... :comeatus:

Do you think if I said "please" they'd give me one of those for free? :squee:
