FRAPS IS BIGGEST SHIT EVER!! DO NOT USE!

It's long deprecated!

 

 

On windows I use playclaw

http://playclaw.com/

very customizable, can keep filesize rather low while maintaining quality high, can record multiple audio tracks for post-mixing

can stream and record, has awesome overlays ; can record desktop, OpenGL and DirectX 8-11 games

 

 

On linux I just use OpenBroadcasterSoftware

https://obsproject.com/

Rather small filesize, good quality, not sure if it can record multiple audio tracks (seems like it, but still haven't figured it out)

can stream and record, has scene composing, no overlays (haven't found them yet at least) ; can record pretty much everything

Fraps is pretty good but I need something that encodes using H.264 rather than lossless video.
