I just don't trust the landlord to do anything. He's kinda sketch. That and my neighbors who have had things like pests in the past... He never got it taken care of.

I'm sure a replacement exists out there if your model is fairly common.

 

Plugged in all the time is my life with my laptop. Battery doesn't go more than 20 minutes at this point. There was a time when you didn't know if it was going to charge it so unplugging meant instadeath. And my laptop is pretty rare so finding replacement parts like a fan or battery is almost impossible. I did have to replace a part on my motherboard at some point last year before I moved. I got lucky. -_-

 

At least a battery is something you don't have to take it apart for. Of course, with the prices some folks charge for replacements, sometimes you're better off replacing the computer.

I'm serious in saying building a desktop is worth it. For the things you play, a $600 desktop (which is what a decent laptop would cost) will handily serve you for 10 years. You do give up the convenience of portability, but they're much more reliable and easily fixed.

 

If you have a TV, you have a monitor and speakers. You don't need a gaming keyboard and mouse to game so don't be afraid to cheap out there.

 

But yeah. That's my take. It's worth saving your bits for a while and building a rig. Biggest reason for me is that a failed part doesn't usually mean you'll need to replace the whole machine.
