So most top 40 songs within the last 20 or so years were written by at least one of two guys: Max Martin and Dr. Luke. And you've probably never heard of these people. But these guys write the songs that get into the airwaves these days. Look at the songwriter for Born to Run. It's Springsteen. Come As You Are was written by Nirvana. Most people don't write their own songs anymore. It's all formulaic. That's why I have such disdain for modern pop. It's why I love rock and roll. Foo Fighters write their own music. Billy Corgan writes his own music. Katy Perry? Madonna? They have a hand in it, but you'll see those two guys credited on almost all their hits.
