The one I'm most familiar with is Windows 98 though. I used Win 98 a lot. And Win XP as well.

I've only experienced that operating system along with others prior to XP in VMs...
 
I was born when Windows 2000 and 98 were the norm, a year and several months before XP. I don't know if one of our old computers had Windows 2000 installed, but I kinda remember with one of my vague infant memories that we have the latter OS installed, so yeah. Was unfortunately too young to experience either of those OSes while they're still fairly new and dominant in the market, so I definitely grew up with XP. (Vista too, in a short time, but we got rid of that for obvious reasons. )

At least we didn't get to experience the Mistake Edition.

Here's a similar computer to the first computer I owned. A Compaq Presario from 1998 with a 4 GB hard drive.

Windows 8 is a lot better than everyone said it was at first. I didn't get what all the fuss was about. 

 

I will say Windows 8 gives you a shit ton less customization options. I really hope they bring back the customization that you could get with Windows 7. 

 

I understand that if there is less to load (i.e. less cutomization features), your system will boot faster but more of us are on solid state drives these days. I'm not worried about my system booting slowly.
