I just came across something where I would need it and wondered if there is a function that could do that, or if I actually had to calculate it myself ^^

One purpose of that would be calculating how many friendships you can buy when you have X ponies in ponyclicker

 

or more realistic, imagine 5 teams playing a game, every team is supposed to play against each other ; how many matches do they play?

team 1 vs 2 vs 3 vs 4 vs 5 (4) //play against all

team 2 vs 3 vs 4 vs 5 (3) //already played against 1

team 3 vs 4 vs 5 (2) //already played against 1&2

team 4 vs 5 (1) //already played against 1&2&3

team 5 vs nan (0)  //already played against all

4+3+2+1+0 = 10 ; and that's what my script gives you
