writing "Forever..."

“Forever”, I whisper, soft and slow

The answer to a question, of which you ask

From which I have pleaded, to a length of time

For which we will be, together in this dance

 

I smile upon the thoughts of you and I

Overcome with a happiness as pure as your heart

To which I make my stand to hold, my dear

Ever so our longest life together, in each other’s arms

Together we say, and forever we sing, of the phrase “I love you”

 

It is in these thoughts of mine which keep me here

Bound by such whims as the falling heart I am

I aim only to be a successor to your emotion

A friend above friends who will cry out above all ends

My darling, it is you and I for which I speak

 

I am not a man of many words for which to share

Yet when my heart bids me do so, I ne’er deny it

Announcing upon clouds which allow us to soar

Declaring in tongues strange to myself

All in a singular moment In which to pronounce these thoughts

I speak to question myself, and wait for you to answer

 

I know not much of life for my age which I am

I know not much of love from these experiences of mine

What I do know, my dearest gift, is that my heart is open

And it is for it that I speak, not lightly

And ask for a love to which we can share,

“Forever…”
