How do you feel about converts? (MLP wise)

Defo not a convert here, never even thought it was weird. I found the show on youtube, loved it, watched everything, then found out about the bronydom, squeeled in awesomeness and dove straight into fanfics for a good 2.5 million words in only 2 weeks, then I got into fan music extremely strongly, then I just balanced out, and now I am pretty much your average brony. Except that aside from my bronydom, I am not quite average...

I walked in on a few friends watching an episode.

WTFITS GUYS?! ARE YOU GAY? DO YOU LIKE FEMALES?

Looking back I can't believe I even said that. I went to YT that night and watched the full 9 hour sitting of S1. I went to bed that day at 7 am. Took 9 hours but it was totally worth it.

Second, after I did learn about bronies, this concept of "converting" people really started to annoy me.

I seriously don't understand why MLP fans are singled out as if they are the only fandom with annoying, pushy fans that try to shove it down peoples throats. I do understand where you are coming from on the desire to convert people though it is a tad creepy and dosen't help public perceptions but even so I kind of understand it and I don't give a shit about the hypocritical double standards of the general public anyway. I know what it is like to be a social outcast and want some basic acceptance and that is what compels some bronies and obsessive fans of anything in general to try to "convert" people. There are plenty of morons who will bully and harass people just for being bronies so that kind of makes the problem a bit worse, I am not saying it dosen't annoy me or is a good thing but I can't help but at least a little sympathetic even if I realize that it is destructive, unhealthy behavior. I am personally alot more annoyed by the bronies who think they are better than everyone else and try to impose their own arbitrary standards onto the fandom as a whole by taking the whole "love and tolerate" motto as a weapon instead of something to strive for. I am no saying that is you, but I certainly have run into plenty of them.

I don't feel comfortable calling former haters "converts". Remember, we're a fandom, not a fucking cult.

As for my feelings towards "reformed haters", I don't mind them. I used to be a hater myself, but after a long period of losing internet arguments with bronies and watching and liking the show on YouTube, I became the very thing I set out to destroy in the first place: a brony.

I would say about an eighth of the community used to think we were freaks and at least 3 eights were converted through the Internet I just got sick if seeing all the jokes that I didn't get and decided to watch it
