As the title says, this thread is dedicated to all those little moments in video games that are so chock full of badassitude that the rest of the game pales in comparison.

 

So, let's see how much badassery we can collect in one spot!

 

1) FF9, when You're Not Alone is playing. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. (Couldn't find a decent video of the 15-20 minute scene but I am sure they are out there)

 

2) While Borderlands 2 is built upon being a general badass, one particular moment takes the cake. Scooter yelling "CATCH-A-RIIIIIIIDE!" followed by Lilith's "Sup." Shivers man, shivers.

 

3) Descent 1 and 2. You are a badass ace pilot merc who's entire job description boils down to "Blow shit up, and escape from a self destructing mine.

 

4) Anytime you pull off a pistol flourish in Fable 3. So much class.

 

5) Xenogears' Id throwing a GOD DAMN SHIP. A WHOLE SHIP. LIKE, WITH HIS HANDS. Sorry, got a little worked up there. BUT SERIOUSLY, HE THREW A SHIP!

 

Honorable Mentions: FF9 again, actually, between Zidane, Vivi, and Steiner, this game had a plethora of badass moments. Vivi Trancing during Black Waltz' attack was pretty much one of the most heartbreaking, and most amazing moments ever.

UNdoubtedy, in the final moments of Portal 2, where the roof falls in and you see that bautiful moon, and your body is unprepared for what happens next. PURE EPICNESS

Legend of Zelda Wind Waker - Impaling Ganon in the face

Final Fantasy VIII - The Garden Battle at the end of Disc 2(Balamb vs Galbadia Gardens)

Every single boss battle in Shadow of the Colossus. A little guy with a sword taking down gargantuan beasts to a majestic score by Kow Otani. And you're actually in control of all of it, no cutscenes or QTEs in sight. Doesn't get any better.
