Getting lost in the city for a little while - looking around at what little chaos and confusion the snow created - he finally found his way down to the harbour. As soon as he noticed the ship, he decided to sit up on deck, waiting for the others. In the end, he fell asleep, and was slowly covered in snow as the last hour before eveypony was supposed to meet went by...

Neon went back to her hotel to pack for the trip. She put on a jacket after she was finished packing. She looked around to make sure she wasn't forgetting anything, she saw some snacks she had and decided ro pack them. Before she left she looked down at her ankle to make sure she had her lucky braclets on, when she saw then she did she left to go find the ship. She didn't know where the ship was but there was a harbor neer by so it must be there.

It took quite some time, but they were able to gather all of their supplies for the trip. Sterling and Evening changed to their adventure clothes before saying what might have been their last farewell to their apartment home. After looking at their apartment silently, Sterling gave Evening a warm hug before walking back to their ship. Sterling carried his herbs and first aid kits, while Evening gathered food and drink for their journey. Throughout that walk, both of them could only imagine what could have caused the rogue storm to appear... ------------

 

Applejack was already back at her barn by the time she inspected the farm. She couldn't do anything about the growing storm that was ruining her crops. She gathered as many apples as she could to prevent them from rotting underneath the gathering snow. After placing all her apples down, she heard a knock on the door. Who could it be? Applejack wondered as she trotted cautiously to the door. When she looked through the window, she could see a familiar face... She opened the door slowly and spoke with urgency,

 

"Red! Come in quickly!"

Red Talon walked into the barn, which was quite warm, a contrast to the worsening conditions outside. He takes a seat on the nearby couch, and begins to talk to Applejack.

"Well..." Red said to her, "Neon and I broke up... But... that's the least of my worries right now. There's an issue up North that is bringing in extreme cold conditions to Equestria. If me and the group isn't fast enough, all of Equestria could end up freezing over. That being said, I have to depart on this journey to save Equestria from the second Ice Age. Therefore, this might be the last time we'll be able to talk with each other..."

It certainly frightened him that he might not come back to Ponyville in one piece. He still had a racing career, a mare to find, a life to live, but to lose it for an honorable cause was enough to ameliorate the loss.

Applejack looked at Red with a solemn look. She knew that if she didn't do anything, her family would suffer from the possible famine. Deep down, she felt that she had to go with Red. She couldn't possibly let her best friend travel to what could have been his doom, even if he was going with brave adventurers. She replied with a serious, determined look,

 

"Now lookee here Sugar Cube. Ah ain't gonna let you die on your own on this journey. Ah know the journey will be a tough one, and Ah reckon your group needs another strong pony to come along. Ah'll come along. You ain't makin me say no. Ah'll tell mah family right away and Ah'll make sure the storm ends real good."

"I... I know you have the ability to accompany us... but... what if something happens to you?" Red asked, "If... we get separated?"

Applejack placed her hoof on Red's mouth, motioning him to stop talking. She didn't care about the risks that were taken to go on such a perilous journey. She saw this as her chance to be with Red for what could have been one last time. They were best friends through it all, and she didn't want this to be the exception. Applejack replied solemnly,

 

"Red. Ah don't care about the troubles that we'll face on this journey. All Ah care about is helpin' mah land recover from this rogue storm. Y'all can't do this without more help, and that's why Ah want to come. Ah don't care what you say, but Ahm coming! Ah'll get mah stuff ready, and Ah'll be out with you shortly!"

 

Applejack then trotted upstairs to her room to pack. She told the rest of the family about what she was going to do. They understood, even though there was some fear about her choice. Whether it was her last journey or not, Applejack didn't care. She just wanted to be with Red...

Despite the fact that the party did definitely need her help, he was still very reluctant about her going along.

"Applejack," Red said to her, shuffling his hooves at the ground, "... It's... ah... if you have your bags all packed, hop on my back, and we'll fly to the ship. Taking a train would take too long; there's no time to waste!"

He turned his backpack on his belly, stepped into a ready-for-takeoff position, and made sure to leave room for Applejack to ride his back.

"Just don't touch my wings while we're in flight," Red then said to her in a joking manner, "If you do, we're all going to die. Well, we might not die, but you could bruise your hoof, and things can get very dangerous."

Applejack was ready to go. She gathered her trusty saddlebag with all the apples and water she could carry. She brought her rope and signature hat along as well. She couldn't leave without them after all. Knowing that Red conceded to her demands, she jumped on Red's back with determination, being careful not to touch his wing. Applejack then gave Red a nod to signal she was ready. Now, all she had to do was wait for Red to take them off...

Red Talon felt Applejack climb onto his back, and took off into the clouding sky. Having another pony ride on his back was something Red never did before, but managed to handle himself nicely; even with an askew center of gravity. A half and hour later, he caught sight of the ship, and landed on the deck, where he met up with everpony else.

"Everypony," he announced, introducing everypony to her. "This is Applejack, a childhood friend of mine. She wanted to come and help us out on the journey, as she figured we'd need it."

With the assembled team on the deck or on the dock, they were all packed and ready to go. That's when DJ burst from below deck with his eyes wide.

 

"ABANDON SHIP!" He commanded. Without another word, he flew up to the wheel and pulled a lever. Either the rope riggings latched on to his friends or the boards beneath them burst upward on springs, but either way, they were thrown from the ship.

 

Landing upon the dock, the evacuated ponies' fall cushioned by the snow, the assembled group looked to their Captain in fear and confusion. Upon the ship, DJ just looked to his friends with one last sad smile.

 

*KA-BOOOM!*

 

With a blast so mighty it knocked the friends backward, the ship that had been their home and salvation went up in a ball of fire and splinters. Upon recovery, all that was visible was the flaming wreckage, smoke rising into the cold grey haze, and the snow now with mixed with ash and embers peacefully falling around them.

 

DJ died with  the Odyssey.

Applejack arrived in Manehattan's harbour where the Odyssey was located. She could see a whole group of friends raring to go on their journey to the North. They must have been the friends who helped save Ponyville from Raven's grasp. Applejack got off Red's back, who kindly introduced her to the rest of the group. 

 

As she was about to officially introduce herself however, a pony was hollering for the group to get off the ship! Filled with fright, Applejack quickly ran out of the ship and held her hoof on Red's hand as if to pull him away from the ship!

 

In the meantime, Sterling and Evening were just as shocked as Applejack as they quickly jumped out of the ship onto land for dear life. Luckily, the snow piled up enough to let them land safely on it.

Red heard DJ frantically shouting, telling everypony to abandon ship. Before he knew it, Applejack grabbed his hoof, jumped into the snow, and the ship burst into flames. When Red finally lifted his face from the freezing surface of the snow, he saw the remains of the ship.

"DJ?" he called out, "DJ?! Oh, *bleep*!"

There's no way anypony could survive an explosion like that.

"No..." Red whimpered, feeling tears coming on, "Not DJ... no..."

He put his hooves in his face, and began to cry.

Steel watched in horror as what remained of the Odyssey sank into the harbor, his eyes reflecting the image, but his mind frozen on the sight of his friend smiling before the blast. His last act was getting his friend's to safety.

 

"The Captain goes down with his ship." Steel whispered before crouching in the snow and beginning to pray.

"DJ..." Red weakly moaned, "Gone... With The Odyssey... what will we do?!"

Red knew that he had to pull himself together in order to save Equestria from freezing over, but it was all too much for him! Losing the affection of the love of his life, Equestria freezing over, and now losing the life of one of his best friends. It all was overwhelming for the race pony, who proceeded to slam his hooves into the snow, punching and pounding away in frustration.

Neon watched as Red flew to the ship with AppleJack on his back, Neon looked at Applejack, She knew AppleJack and Red were just friends but she wondered if either of them wanted to be more then just friends, they seemed to care about each other a lot, Neon wasn't sure how she felt about Red liking somepony else or, having another marefriend...But, She was the one who broke up with him, she had to try to move on...

 

Before Neon could think about the subject more she heard DJ shout to get off the ship, She looked at him confused and wanted to ask why but before she could she got thrown off the ship, she wasn't sure how. She landed in the snow, she wiped some snow off her face then looked up at the ship, she saw DJ smile, but she could tell he was sad...Then suddenly the ship exploded.

 

"D-DJ? What...Just happened?" Neon's eyes started to get watery, she thought about DJ smiling right before the explosion and she burst out crying. She grew so close to DJ during their adventures. Neon started shivering from the cold and continued crying, She couldn't believe what had just happened...And didn't want to believe it..

(My friends! I am back, and back to stay. I've generously been let back into the group by Steel to be in the Roleplay with you all. I want to apologise for leaving right when the roleplay was at such a low time, that was so stupid of me to do. But I'm back, and I 'ain't leaving you this time! I just hope we'll all have fun and that you'll all forgive me?)

(Also to say that I have changed Evening's personality up a wee bit, but it shouldn't make too much of a difference, if you want to check it out, there's a link in my siggy :3)

 

Shock had overcome her, all Evening Glory could do was stand there, motionless, her mouth wide open. She couldn't believe what just happened, the ship, their Odyssey, had just gone down, and with its Captain. It had all happened so fast, too fast. She was happy, on cloud nine, then suddenly, with a yell and a spring and a blast... Everything had gone to rock bottom.

 

Her dull green eyes drilled into the sinking ship, watching it as sunk father and father down.

"W-W-Wha.." Evening whispered, her fragile voice cracking. Her jaw felt like stone, unable to properaly shape her words, unable to properaly move "D..DJ?" Her eyes were already watering, death was a thing Evening could never handle well. A cold tear ran down her cheek and fell into the snow beneath her hooves. Her eyes flickered up and down, from the water to the last part of the ship that was still out of the water, to the water, and back again..

 

'I'll never get to thank him..' she thought to herself 'and now I never will..'

Sterling was shocked. It all happened so quickly... The shouts from the DJ... the jump out from the Odyssey... the explosion. And DJ was still on the ship... He could see Evening tear up beside him. It was then that Sterling too felt a tear from his eye. DJ was one of his closest friends on that fated ship. He was the one who helped him see that Evening loved him, and to help him talk with Princess Luna about his future with Evening... In a valiant effort to comfort Evening, he wrapped his front hooves around Evening and hugged her as tightly as he could.

 

Meanwhile, Applejack was still wondering what just happened... she knew there was an explosion, but she wasn't sure whether there was a pony still on board. She looked around, noticing that all of the company were still present... except for one. Applejack then asked with a fear for the worst...

 

"Is... is everyone accounted fer?! Ah... ah think one of us is still missing!"

"He's..." Red mumbled, "He's... no... longer with us..."

He didn't face Applejack at all while saying this, rather, mumbled through the hooves in his face. He thought of the adventure that they went on, how close some of them did come to death. But now, the harsh reality of it all was sinking in. It surely didn't seem like an accident, and the ship carried no such materials that could explode and combust as readily as it did. Red gave it careful thought, and taking those factors in, concluded that it was a clear attack! Suddenly, his mood turned from one of grievance to anger, vengeance, and a sense of retribution.

"I... I'll..." Red stammered, "I'll find the bastards responsible for this... and I won't sleep until EVERY DAMN ONE OF THEM IS BURNING IN HELL!"

Red stood staring at the burning wreckage of the ship, with fires of hatred burning in his eyes.

"DJ," Red vowed to his fallen friend, "I... I promise you, we WILL find those responsible for this! We won't rest until the Wheels of Justice turn with a vengeance! May Celestia have mercy on their souls once I'm done with them!"

He slammed his hoof into the ground again, shouting in anger, anger that was converted directly from his sadness and grief. Nopony had ever seen Red Talon acting the way he was, behavior that was very worrying to his colleagues, to say the least. Only Celestia would know what he would do next...

North woke up from a really loud noise coming from somewhere close by... Slowly getting up, he walked off of the ship and noticed his friends standing by a singing ship not too far away. With unsteady and tired steps, he made his way over to them.

"Hello... I must have... Boarded the wrong ship..." he said, before he turned to the one sinking. "What... Happened?"

Evening hugged Sterling back and buried her face into his shoulder, she continued to cry.

"He-He's gone" she sobbed quietly into Sterling fur. She couldn't collect her thoughts, they were calm just a second ago, but now they were scattered to the ends of the earth. Being the emotional pony she was, she knew wouldn't be able to stop crying for awhile. She hated being sad, she hated that ponies had to die.

 

She lifted up her head to look at North after he arrived, she looked at him with sad, dim eyes

"He's gone, North.." she said dejectedly, another tear falling down her cheek as she choked out her words "DJ's gone."

Sterling looked onward at the ship. He still couldn't believe it. DJ perished within the ship. Why didn't he jump off when he could? As the snow continued to fall over the adventurers, Sterling continued to cry into Evening's mane as he continued to hug her warmly.

 

"Oh Evie... I'm sorry..." Sterling couldn't say anything more. He wasn't sure what to say. DJ was gone... it was undeniable.

Applejack looked on at Sterling and Evening, realizing the events that just unfolded. The worst had happened: one of their best friends... their leader... perished in the ship. Applejack took off her hat and placed it on her abdomen in a moment of silence for the fallen. She didn't know what to say either. She didn't want to make matters worse, but they had to keep moving. The snow was falling harder and harder...

All of the friends had their own reactions to the harsh reality of their friend being taken from them so suddenly and cruelly. Red raged and cursed, Evening broke down frantically, Sterling comforted his wife, Neon cried with me control, Steel silently prayed.

North heard a voice whisper on the wind.

His eyes widened slightly as he heard Evening speak. "Gone...? How..." he begun, as he slowly looked down to the ground. After a short moment of silence, he continued with a whisper: "I hope... He will be back then...".

Not too long after, one of his ears perked up. "Hm?" came from him, as he slowly rose his head, looked around a little bit, and curiously moved towards where the voice had come from...

North sees the faint outline of a young filly. No features can be made out from all the snow, but her soft whispers carry through the white, ghostly shower.

 

"This way . . ."

 

She walked around a corner. As North himself came around, she had disappeared.

 

"Over here . . ." There she was again, a good distance away near the entrance to an old warehouse. She raised her hoof and beckoned him inside before walking behind the doorway.
