writing Heart at war

When I imagine the heart, I dream of a special place

One where nothing really matters, and everything is wonderful

Nothing to worry over or give reason to cause grief

Simply a majestic land of peace, for the mind and the soul

 

In this heart of mine, the one I don’t imagine

All I see are flames, where heavy stains lay, and words run free

An abrupt pause of thought in the gaping wounds that caress it

 

To simply state my mind on the matter present, I am failing

Failing to resolve and accept the inner most issues that haunt me and cause me to hurt

The ever clear signs of love past and destroyed, leaving the greatest obstacle

One of which of course I am unable, it seems, to pass

And this war of mine, how it takes a toll

Leaves me bitter, when I wish to enjoy

Makes me angry, when I hope to be friendly

Allows me to hate, when I only know love

 

And in this little heart of mine, this war rages, as it has for some time

In this little heart of mine, the one I don’t imagine
