If I expected your understanding, then I would have left for the hills

In the meantime of poisonous venom articulating words of burning passion

As the man wakes from his sleep and squeals in strange tongues

Showing bloodshot eyes which have seen melancholy’s ugly face reared in full swing

 

And destined is he that can show us the way as we die

Leaving a certain understanding for the lover’s despair

As if looking in the mirror led to the solution to your pain

And as if you knew how to be this man when you yourself are in flames

Just to like what you see, and understand who we are inside

 

Come one, come all

Wake the sleeping babe with venomous fangs aplenty

With smoke for the elders and knives for the common men

Bullets all flying with certain appease

Don’t you like what you see?

I encourage your lies in this regard

 

Smell all the tables moving about

The platters and dishes left sitting

The participants of this supper have left this world

And all around are the wishes of saints who died in their sleep

Sinner’s despair abound in depression

 

I hope that you know what it’s like to be here

Plotting the wars and scheming the politics

Holding a knife and hiding the pens

All the while as the men fall in prayer

So wipe of that grin and hop aboard the wagon

I don’t know where you’re going

But it’s not of importance

 

I hope to be dead one day

As the snake bites my neck, I drown in my glee

The man of mystery shrouded in diamonds is me, can’t you tell?

And I lead the parades through the streets\

I was the the hammer that walked about the world

And I canceled the programs

Shot all the sorrow with smiling bullets

And drowned all the pity with gloves of expression

Mixing in my personality within all my deeds

All that I know is the burning passion articulated by pain

 

Up here in the hills are where I should have been

A dreamer and a liar tamed in civilization

If I expected your understanding, I would have left for the hills
