Super Mario 64 DS:

Not only is Luigi FINALLY playable (and, in fact, broken as Tartarus), but so are Yoshi and even Wario. Additionally, there're now FLANKLOADS of extra Stars (bumping the total up to 150 from the original's 120), Course-redesigns, and even minigames (Luigi + casino-ownership = PIMP).

Mario Kart 7 for 3DS

Loved this game from when I first opened it up. You can now customize your car just the way you want it. From wheels, to body and even...your hanglider! Yeah, hang glider! In the new courses, there are ramps, which you can jump off of and take flight into the air.

Also, there are new pickup items as well such as the raccoon tail, which the one found in Super Mario Bros 3. With this item, you can deflect items and even flip karts who come behind you and try to pass you. Also, there's the signature lucky number 7. When you get this, you'll spawn 7 different items that you can use at your disposal.

One final thing, as you race, you can collect up to 10 coins which improve the speed of your car. Also, when you jump off ramps and and press the R button right when you're on the edge of the ramp, you'll get a free boost.

Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen and Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver. I had some personal issues with strange decisions made in the latter, but they are great remakes, and were needed.

I can't think of much of anything else. Most games that get called "remakes" these days are nothing more than remastered ports in reality (like Wind Waker HD).

Mario Kart 7 for 3DS

Mario Kart 7 is not a remake, though. It's a new entry to the Mario Kart series.

Super Mario All-Stars.

Seriously, that game is amazing. I don't think I've ever seen so much data crammed into a single 16-bit cartridge. All 3 classic Mario games with purdier graphics and music, PLUS the previously Japan-only Lost Levels. Not to mention they started updating the game by including Super Mario World in the same cart.

Can you believe that? It's amazing, frankly.

Needless to say, I consider it one of the greatest games to ever grace my television set.

EDIT: Also, why is this in Movies/TV?

Resident Evil REmake(Gamecube) - Everything about it was better than the original

Megaman Maverick Hunter X(PSP) - I'm still disappointed they they won't do this with the rest of the series

Megaman Powered Up(PSP) - See MHX

Starfox 64(N64) - See REmake

Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection(PSP) - Everything feels completely new while still keeping it's original style intact. Interlude and The After Years are great bonuses too

I rather liked Super Mario 64 on DS...it was a nice remake and thoroughly enjoyable for me.

I also really enjoyed Pokemon SoulSilver on DS.

And I'm not sure if it actually counts, but I enjoyed Sonic Generations. Since they remade old levels, I guess it sort of counts.

Also, I liked the Silent Hill HD Collection...yeah, I liked it. I realize that it had tons of flaws, but it was easier to get a hold of for me without having to go out and buy a PS2. I don't play it much anyway.

I'm a lot less harsher on remakes than most people, though.

Resident Evil REmake(Gamecube) - Everything about it was better than the original

I'm surprised this hasn't been re-released again. Its the best resident evil game for me. Looks awesome. The fact that you had to keep an eye on the dead (after you just made them deader than they were already dead) was interesting.

Neptune, you suck.

They improved some of the in game diologue - "Its a weapon, its really powerful, especially against living things!" You don't say?

Also died laughing at the Tyrant's demise.

The 1995 (I think) remake of The Last Of The Mohicans was astounding if compared to the 1950 and 1930 versions of the movie. Sure it, was gruesome, but it was historically accurate and awesome.
