  1. 1. How would ponies see the genetical "designing" of babies?

    • As something awesome and incredible. They would accept the idea without problem.

    • As something hideous and horrendous. They, surely, will not accept that idea at all

    • Depending about which pony we're talking about. Some of them will say "yes", others will say "no".

I was thinking that maybe the fact of designing the perfect son/daughter could be something possible and real instead of mere fiction or fantasy.

Let's suppose this:

A group of human scientists expose the idea of creating babies from an artificial uterus (a machine) to the princesses and to another present ponies. Next, they say to ponies that the inhabitants of Equestria could create their own "perfect stallion" or the "perfect mare" according their respective point of view and have an easier life choosing the foal's/filly's talent.

Do you think the ponies would accept the idea of creating babies inside a machine? Or would the ponies see that idea as a monstruosity and an atrocity against the life itself?

How would your favorite pony react before that idea?

You can add your own standpoint about the idea if you want.

you know, the nazi's already tried making the 'ubermensch' in the second world war.

they didn't succeed tough.

all that aside, i think it would be way to unethical for ponykind to accept. frankly, the idea would probably make them think you are a monster for even suggesting it.

I can't see them being ok with this.  Maybe an evil pony would want a perfect minion or something, but everyone else would want the babies to choose their own way of life, instead of having no choice in the matter themselves.

Well let's think about ourselves first. In our own world, there would be just a couple of people who would want this since they would think it is wrong to do such a thing or they will be afraid something will happen to their baby. If just a few in our own world wants it, there's going to be barely anypony in Equestria who would want that since they would be scared what kind of weird things the humans has brought to us. Humans are like aliens to ponies.

Look at it like this; aliens came to earth and offered you the same thing. I doubt people would want it. They'd be scared.

I think the ponies would be morally conflicted at first but might actually accept it after a couple of generations.

Think about it! Throughout the show, the ponies empathize nurturing over allowing nature to decide anything. That's why ponies control the clouds, sun/moon, and caring for the animals since they feel it is their duty. The Everfree Forest is considered chaotic because they as ponies cannot control the outcome of whatever happens in the forest.

Would it that far of a stretch for ponies to feel tempted at the idea of insuring a successful future for their offspring which until now, they couldn't fully control?

The movie GATTICA elaborates on this matter in great detail. It takes place in a world where parents can have their best genetic traits instilled into their children, creating stronger, faster, smarter and healthier human beings, so much so that anyone born naturally is at a disadvantage and discriminated against, especially in regards to climbing the social ladder and finding a good job.

I'm sure some ponies will embrace the idea, especially in the Equestrian upper classes of wealth and royalty. Equestrians participatory behavior in the natural process would have them be accepting of this idea, far more than we in the human race. But I'm pretty sure for most of Equestria, it wouldn't be a matter of "is this ethical or moral?" but more so "is this necessary?" ,simply because they seem to be getting along fine without it.
