Don't blame Angel

Putting Your Hoof Down is the one episode that I truly did not like Angel much, though it did play off of Fluttershy pretty well. Overall though, I think he just has a very stubborn personality and perhaps a bit bratty too. Sure, that can be a fault of his, but hey, we all have our personality faults. I don't hate him at all, even with PYHD. Deep down he does care about Fluttershy and that has to say something. Yeah, he was also a douche to Spike but...well, Spike kinda deserved that, maybe not to THAT extent, but somewhat at least. In the end he did make Spike realize something important though so he taught him a certain lesson, or helped to.

 

So...I don't think he is as bad as some say, but that is just my opinion.

I think the reason people hate Angel is the same reason people look with disgust on spoiled kids that would hit their own mother when they don't get what they want at the store or something. Seeing as Fluttershy is like the mom and Angel is the spoiled brat.

Agreed. People are probably very defensive of Fluttershy being hurt because she is depicted as such a fragile and gentle pony. If she would be more well rounded, people wouldn't pay as much mind to it.

well is he any worse than say opal rarity's cat?  It's amazing no one mentions what a sadistic cat that thing is.

I see Opalescence (wow, that's an actual word) as somepony that just threatens when annoyed which might be all the time since she's a cat but she may swipe at Rarity's face and we don't see Rarity get scratched up (at least I don't recall it every happening). I know the time when Opal was clinging to Rarity's body but that's really minor compared to what Angel did and we don't know what happened. Maybe something spooked Opal. Angel by comparison seems to exhibit very childish annoyances towards various characters and chooses to act that way for whatever reason. Ponies might see the Angel/Fluttershy relationship as similar to parent/foal so the Angel bunny becomes a spoiled foal and ponies look down on that motif. I don't see much of a 'rivalry' between Spike and Angel since the abuse seems one-sided. That's like saying the Applebloom/Diamond Tiara relationship is a rivalry as well.

Nah, I hate angel for more than just slapping her. honestly he has always acted like some sort of brat whether it be directly to fluttershy or not.

I actually like Angel Bunny. He helps fluttershy a lot, and yes he can be a little brat sometimes but Fluttershy obviously cares for the little guy. I don't think Fluttershy would be very happy if she saw the people of the internet saying all of these mean things about her furry little friend.

I've been clawed by a cat .  I'm inclined to assume rarity has it harder lol.  and yes i recall where opal dug into rarity, that was stare master.  I mean she was DUG i deep.

 

I would let a rabbit Pimp slap me up and down the street, before i'd keep cat that did that.

I agree with most things you're saying in terms of Angel's somewhat nonsensical behaviour. The only thing I'll ask is: Why can you make excuses for Opal, and not for Angel? I mean, you said "maybe", so it's just a speculation. But that's my only question, honestly, I think y'did a good job at justifying yourself above.

Yes Angel is a troll and sometimes bullies fluttershy, but we have seen him point fluttershy in the right direction or even help her out at times.
