Amazing realizations?

I've had a realizations from a month ago. I've been thinking recently about how precious life is. So many things give up life, either in portions or in full, to continue our existence. The mother who bore us sacrificed her own nutrients to ensure proper development. The grains we eat have given up portions of their own vitality to feed us-to fill our bellies. The energy within our food comes from selfless sacrificing. All the living beings depend on the sacrifices of others and their ancestors to live. The amount of history that is within a single cheerio is so vast and amazing. I've never appreciated it before, but now it feels so humbling. I just felt like sharing something like this. What do you guys think? Do you have any realizations that make you feel so warm and fuzzy?

I'm not sure about feeling warm and fuzzy; but the biggest thing that goes through my mind is the fact that everyone has thoughts and feelings and emotions. I don't really know how to describe it other than: people walking down the street, it seems like they aren't really anyone because you don't know them. But they have lives. They have families, jobs, thoughts, etc. I don't know why I think about it all the time, but I like that I do because it makes me feel more empathetic towards others.

My biggest realization as of late is how poor my vision is getting. I sorta ignored it, until I went to go get a physical this weekend and found out I had went from 20/20 my Freshman year, 20/40 my Sophomore year, to 20/120 this year. Ughh.

Also, I've realized I don't have much more of high school to go, and I'm on my way to becoming an adult. I mean, I got my first job today, and I start tomorrow. Things are changing, man...times flying, but I don't want it to.

Here recently I did have one of those kinds of things. So the first thing I did was get on Facebook and tell my best friend about it. Here's the message I sent her (with some edits)

The fact that we live is a miracle. I mean, even if you're not religious, what were the odds that a bunch of events would occur throughout cosmic history that allow you and I to breathe? Think about it, we're the only planet with life. So the odds really weren't good at all. Based on the odds, you and I and everything else shouldn't be alive. Life is a miracle. But existence...I think that's a paradox. They say the universe is expanding. But what contains the universe? And what contains that container? If the universe is growing, that means its dimensions can be defined. If its dimensions can be defined then it's finite. But regardless, what contains the universe? And if the universe is infinite, then nothing can contain it. There simply wouldn't be anything big enough. So what is the universe bounded by? There's one truth and that is that our minds simply cannot comprehend eternity. :)

I refuse to let go until you're impressed.
I refuse to let go until I'm depressed.

My realization was that I remembered that I was near sighted. I should wear glasses just in case I am far away, but I won't because I don't like them. I'll still sit far away though.

Don't worry, going blind isn't all that bad. I would know as I am almost completely blind.

You seem to see the bigger picture of how thing are in the cycle of life. I am quite glad to hear that you see it this way.

My biggest realization would be what I consider my spiritual enlightenment, I'd say. Though it wasn't a very easy road, nor was my experience very pleasant, so to speak. It involved many ups and downs ever since I had a dream when I was about 15 or so about the nature of my reality. Most of this sort of thing is very personal, and is my own beliefs, but having said that, it's also very based in scientific reading I've done as well. Stephen Hawking's Universe in a nutshell really helped me along to this final point.

I realized that the universe is a conscious entity, and we are all individuations of that consciousness. We are the universe perceiving it's self, and through our interactions, we become a thought, and therefor exist within the mind of the universe. This thought was made even more concrete to me when I saw these images.

The universe as mapped by a computer, based on what we know of it's structure.

And it compares to neurons inside a brain quite closely.

Thank you for sharing. It is very fascinating, and could really help others come to their own formation of ideas. I am not sure about what I can personally say about this, but it is beautiful. Perhaps I can meditate on this sometimes.

I realised that there is no way of proving that anything beyond your own perceptions is real. I mean, literally none. You can't prove it's not all a figments of your imagination.

Assuming they are, there's no way to know if others perceive the world in the way you do. How do you know what you and your friend call "red" look the same in both og your eyes? ^.^

I have done a lot of meditation on this, and it's lead me to some very interesting visions. I tend to get a lot of fractal patterns when I meditate which coincide with the concepts I've described. I hope my information helps you, my friend, as it has for me. e9FkmL5.png

I actually have another philosophy to share, which relates to my previous. :)

I've pondered the way my mind works on several occasions, and have come to conclusions on the nature of the mind in some ways.

Having found out about the magical little spot in the center of the brain, the pineal gland. I found that they've begun to determine the origin of dreams from this point, due to a chemical known as DMT. It's highly hallucinogenic, and occurs naturally in this part of the brain. It releases small amounts when you're in REM sleep, and acts like a temporary neurotransmitter (AKA brain cell) This would likely cause your brain to communicate differently than you would awake, and kind of explains how a dream can be so difficult to understand when you wake up, and look back on it. Another thing I've read is that this chemical is released in very high amounts when you're born, and when you die. So this, in tandem with my previous thought of the universe being like a brain, makes a lot of sense really.

Think of it this way. You die, your brain releases high amounts of DMT. Dreams are void of time, it's irrelevant inside the subconscious for the most part. So there's about 10 minutes of brain activity when you're laying there with no vitals, and you're tripping out in a dream the whole time. Perhaps you dive into your dream self, the one you live every night when you sleep. Becoming incarnated in that reality where you have dreamed of all your life. And likewise, as you sit here reading this post, you're merely living in the dream of your previous dying mind, an individual thought, perhaps an incarnation of a person you knew in a previous life, which is now fading away in the background of the universe.

This theory would bring up an interesting point, in terms of how the universe formed. Were it brought into existence via the big bang, and was actually the formation of new cells in an infant's mind. The mind would expand in size, growing larger and larger, and when it dies, begin to tear apart and decay. Life would appear, as the infant becomes aware of it's self, and furthermore become sentient when the infant grows and increases his knowledge. The final thoughts of the dying mind would extinguish physically, but not disappear, because they would in turn dive into their own newly formed universes within their own minds. Remembering that energy cannot be destroyed, only change form, as Quantum physics states.

Sorry if this is difficult to follow, I realize it's pretty out there. :P

Warm, fuzzy realizations? No, not really....I think most of my realizations are good but they rarely make me feel warm and fuzzy. They mostly just help me move on with life with a better perspective on things.

I think the best realization I've had so far was when I realized that I was being rude to the people around me and I decided to suck it up and start trying to be nice, even if what they did hurt. I think I forced myself to change for them...and I'm still doing that now. It's not too bad, and they no longer hate me....so I guess it was good. I'm not sure.
