Sabellah

 

Sabel landed in the back of the gardens behind the hotel.  They stretched for a decent ways, but she had managed to reach the fence cutting off the tamed landscape from the wild swampland beyond.  Looking at the two sides of the fence was like standing in one world and staring into another - one side was well manicured and taken care of...  The other side looked like no one had stepped into it before.  "Cool..."

 

It was getting dark, though.  She would have to explore the swamps another time...  So for now, she turns to start walking through the gardens back to the hotel.  The trails through the gardens were clean and lit every few feet, so it was a simple and relaxing walk.  She decided to take her time on her way back, since she had flown here originally.

Twila

 

 

Twila started the drain the bath, feeling warm and content. I wonder what the others are up to? she wondered thoughtfully as she made sure to dry behind her ears.

Wiping the fog off the mirror, she stopped to really look at herself. She had never felt that she was a gorgeous pony, just sort of average. Her coat was a periwinkle coloring--nothing special--but it was silky as a cat's. Her hair was one aspect she as actually proud of; it curled elegantly, a mixture of dark purple and a sky blue. When the strands hit the light, they even emitted a subtle shimmer from their glossy shine. She also had a spiraled horn, being a Unicorn, that did set her apart from other ponies. If only I knew how to properly use my magic, though...

Upon entering the room, she discovered that Sabel was out still. Hmm, she must be out exploring.

 

"Sabel? Are you around here?...o-okay, guess not." she called out meekly into the hallway. Nothing.

She heard rustlings of movement a bit down the hall, and upon further inspection saw what seemed to be a soft glow coming from another room door. She decided she mind as well greet them. She knocked on the door hesitantly, unsure who she'd be meeting...

Mirror Image continued to focus her magic into the orbs before spinning them around the room. It wasn't much of a show...nor were there any spectacular illusions like her parents could conjure but the orbs were pretty. And they left a short trail of light behind them as they moved. She had a feeling that at least a few ponies would appreciate them. "Maybe I can use them to make patterns if I can extend the tails..." Mirror whispered to herself.

 

She doubted that she would be doing much more tonight other than sleeping. The would-be Illusionist decided to use the rest of her magic to extend the light trails of the orbs. The knocks on the door caught her off guard, causing her to squeak. It also had the side effect of making the orbs flash brightly before dissipating into the air.

 

Mirror rubbed her eyes trying to get them used to the dark again. "Ju-just a minute...I'll be there in a moment..." The mare levitated the cloak over, letting it drape over her alwhile she searched her bags for the mask. She used her magic to put the mask on. She pulled the hood over her head just as she opened the door. Despite having the mask on she kept her head low. "Hello...can I...um... Help you?"

 

(OOC: I'll post a reference for her cloak and mask in the OOC when I get home.)

Skuldaf saw Sabellah coming back in and smiled slightly as she entered the hotel. She seemed nice, compared to the one who yelled at him on the boat. Skuldaf decided to focus his power into his pores so that it naturally seeped our, effectively his rest mode

The grounds just outside of the hotel were interesting: if not the adventure that Wish had hoped for. She nosed about for a short while but eventually grew bored with the beautiful, but not-particually-unexplored gardens.

 

Climbing up against the boundary she looked out over the fence with a grin of almost childish glee.

 

"Thats more like it!"  She said to herself: stopping herself from climbing over right there and then - it had been a long trip and she still had the hotel itself to explore - she wanted to make sure she knew the place she would be calling home for the foreseeable future before she started adventuring outwards.

 

"I bet Mirror wont want to go out there..." She pondered aloud as she sat clumsily beside a flowering plant of some kind and eyed it curiously. "... So I guess it'll just be me then! Exploring like Scribe - I'll show them that I'm more than capable of taking care of myself in the wild - how different can it be from trekking from Trottingham to Canterbury? It's just... muddier... and stuff!"

Suddenly, she saw the light emitting from the door disappear, and a started voice answered. After some rustling noises, the door opened, and she finally saw who was living next door:

 

Though she couldn't tell any real characteristics of the pony, she could tell that she was younger than her, but not by too much. "Uh, Hi! My name's Twila. I was peering down the hallway when I saw a soft glow emitting from one of the doors, and thought I'd see who it was...I didn't meant to startle you!" she finished quietly, feeling guilty.

 

 (OOC: Will you be uploading your character any time soon? It's kind of hard to know what to say and not say right now.)

Mirror Image lowered her head out of habit avoiding the mare's gaze. "It's alright...It um, happens more often than I'd like. I'm Mirror Image...it's uh..nice to meet you?" she asked more than stated, as if she wasn't sure how to properly meet other ponies. "I'm sorry about the light...was it too bright? I can stop if you need me to."

While walking through the gardens back towards the hotel, Sabel stops as she hears a voice.  She moves around a bush blocking her view to find Wish sitting there...  Talking to herself?  Heh...  Yeah, ponies are weird.  It's a good thing I like weird.

 

The griffoness stays there for a moment listening to Wish's plans, grinning as she leans against a nearby tree.  "You talking about going out in the swamp?"  Sabellah busies herself by making a show of inspecting her talons while she speaks.  "I was thinking of the same thing...  Bound to be something cool out there.  I'm Sabel, by the way."

"Oh, no, it's okay! It looked really pretty from what I could see!" Twila replied, trying not to fidget, herself. 

 

"So, uh, how do you like your room? It looks like it has a nice view of the surrounding grounds," she finished, looking past Mirror Image to the window that was now softly illuminated by the setting sun.

Skuldaf left his rest mode as he saw a small lizard go by him. The baby Hydra. Skuldaf chased after it, desperate to study the small creature. He leaped down from the roof to the ground, following the quick creature.

Wish turns sharply, locking eyes with the Griffon and freezing up for more than just a second as she debated whether to make a run for the hotel or into the swamp. Thankfully, the tension in the air was shattered by the blundering bully charging past them - she wouldn't have thought it, but she was actually happy to see him. 

 

Even though it was only for a moment, it gave the mare the confidence she needed to... do... whatever she planned to do.

 

"Uh, youragriffonarntyou?" She blurted out incoherently.

 

'Good start... now try again with breathing.'

 

She cleared her throat, very slowly looking left and right. She had wanted to talk to the Griffon but she hadn't expected her to be quite so... intimidating.

 

'I'm not scared! Not like, any more than anypony else would be! I bet Scribe wouldn't even do this!'

 

 "I mean, yeah. Swamp! Uhm, I'm... Wish..." She managed to say - breathing deeply and managing to finish saying something discernable in the face of danger easing her nerves by just a fraction. "...Wish Scribe! I was just... yeah, out there!"

He looked up at the stallion that asked him for his order. He noticed how confused and disturbed the stallion had looked, and thought for a moment about what could have upset him in a place like this; but he only thought for a moment. "Food comes first though." He thought. He had to wake up to get something to eat not worry about some working stallions problems.  

 

He reach into one of his bags, pulled out eight bits and asked, "Will this get me some hay fries and milk?" He could hear Fi buzzing, "Right sorry, please." He could hear Fi buzzing again and took out ten more bits and a small list. "Also I could use anything on this list." http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_do_fireflies_eat He yawned as he waited for the stallions reply.

Skuldaf finally caught the lizard, smiling at the creature. It was thin and half starved, a pathetic creature. Skuldaf put it on his back and began trotting back to Sabellah. 

"Do you have any meat?" Skuldaf questioned, blinking expectantly. Despite the baby Hydra crawling over his face, he didn't blink

The waiter looked at the list and blinked a couple times - he hadn't thought it possible, but his night did get stranger.  He takes a couple of Hack's bits as a tip, but leaves most of them there.  Meals were included in the stay, after all.  "I will...  See what we have in stock.  I'll be back momentarily sir."

Sabel laughs as she puts her talon back down, smiling at Wish.  She hadn't caught much from that initial outburst, but she thought she had heard the word griffon in there.

 

"Heh, what's wrong, not met a griffon before Wish?  Don't worry, it's cool.  I was actually planning on heading into the swamp tomorrow too...  You seem cool though.  If you want company I could check it out with ya..."  

 

Before she could say more Skuldaf appeared out of nowhere with a tiny lizard on his face.  Blinking at his question Sabel just rolls her eyes.  "Skuldaf, if I had meat, I wouldn't have had to eat that garbage in the dining room would I?"

"Oh, thank you...I try to make them pretty making them look nice is hard though." She paused, trying to think of how to answer the questions. "Um...it's a nice room. It's got a big bed...it looks comfortable."

 

The room fell into an uncomfortable silence, at least for Mirror it was uncomfortable. She tried to think of what the proper etiquette was for meeting a pony in a hotel. She knew that it was polite to invite ponies inside if they came to your house...it seemed like the correct thing to do. "Um...would you like to come inside?" She asked quietly, unsure if that was the correct choice.

Wish broke out of her stunned silence, trying not to acknowledge the repeated interruptions of the stallion, she managed to mostly avoid stammering as she responded.

 

"No, never." She said nervously - back at the farming hamlet it had been rare to see unicorns and pegasi - never mind griffons. Of course, she read a lot back then: she knew about the bloody history between the two races, for example. "I mean, sure I've read about them... I mean you... No! Not you specifically! Griffons! I've read about griffons!"

 

Things weren't going well. She decided to try the topic that she was more comfortable with instead - rubbing the back of her neck with a hoof anxiously.

 

"Uh... If your going out there anyway then sure! I bet there's loads of cool stuff out there just waiting for us to find!"

Twila listened to the reply, nodding her head from time to time in hopes to making Mirror Image feel more at ease.

 

"Sure, I'll come in, but only if it's what you really want?" She questioned, sensing the sudden awkwardness that had settled over them.

 

In the distance, she heard the faint sounds of yelling, or in the very least loud speech. Jeez, I wonder what's going on out there?

One of the things you had wanted to do was learn to talk to ponies while you stayed here...afterall she probably wasn't going to see any if them ever again after this. "Um...I don't think I would mind...but it's up to you..." Mirror said as she trailed off at the end.

With another grin, Sabel gives a small nod at Wish.  "Cool.  I'll see ya in the morning then...  Oh and Wish, relax would ya?  I don't bite.  Not without permission anyways."  She winks at the mare and turns to nod at Skuldaf before walking back to the door to the hotel.  It really was starting to get late, and if she was going into the swamp in the morning it would pay to be well rested.  I wonder what kind of creatures live in a swamp like this...  This should be fun.

The waiter returns, balancing Hack's somewhat strange (though not as strange as any of the others) order on his back.  "Erm, here is your meal sir.  Enjoy."

Far above the hotel, a bird flew unnoticed by any of the ponies (or griffon) below it.  It was a somewhat strange bird, black in body with white wings.  And from far, far in the depths of the swamp another watched through the bird's eyes.  "Interesting..."

Hack removed the bits that were left on the table, and put Fi down so she could eat too. The hay fries looked delicious, and the milk was just how he always liked. "Warm, but not hot enough to burn your tongue." He looked away from her for only a minute, but when he looked back all of Fi's food was gone. He tried not to put too much thought into that, seeing as it would probably give him a head ache.

 

Now that he was comfortable and eating, he called the waiter before he started to walk off. "Hey wait a sec... You seem like you had rough day. Mind explaining what happened." He said while biting a fry. This would be a good way to pass a few minutes anyway.

The waiter simply chuckles and shakes his head.  "Not rough so much as strange, sir.  I thought I was ready for the hotel to open, but I never expected our first guests to have such...  Strange dining requests.  There was a pair in here earlier who ordered a meat substitute...  Which I could understand for the griffon, but a pony ate it too.  Then there were two mares who ordered enough food for a dozen..."  Just then a voice from the kitchen called out a name and the waiter flinches slightly.  "My apologies sir, duty calls!"

Skuldaf followed Sabellah, unsure if he would grant him a request. 

"Sabellah, can I have some bird feed?" Skuldaf said, blinking expectantly. "You're a gryphon, I'd assume you have some" he droned, still blinking his black eyes expectantly. The bird feed would be useful for attracting birds

Hack shook his head while finishing the last of his fries, "Oh don't worry I understand. I better get going myself." He picked up Fi and placed her back onto his head. "I guess I will see you around sir." 

 

As he walked off he started to mumble towards Fi. "A griffon, huh? The last I heard of one Gilda gave them a bad name... I just hope those rumors aren't true." He yawned, "At least that explains the blood, I was starting to get scarred." Fi gave a short buzz to show she agreed. "Don't worry I'm half asleep not stupid..." 

 

 

As he said this his words started to fall off. He was suppose to turn and go back to his room, but instead he started to walk into wall. After he hit his head and got back his bearing. Hack went back to his room to sleep until night.

As the tiny Hydra hopped up onto her, Wish twisted awkwardly to ensure it wouldn't fall, just about managing to keep the creature safe as she listened to the griffon.

'Huh. Well... I didn't get eaten." She thought as Sabel left. "Wait, do I know a griffon now? Thats so cool'

 

She was about to say something to the strange acting bully along the lines of the fact that a baby Hydra didn't make up for him upsetting her friend earlier - but he had already left to follow Sabel. "Huh... Weird guy."

Placing the Hydra onto the ground, she sat back by the flowers - casually picking one off and munching in it as she used a small stick to entertain the baby.

Sabel spins abruptly at the comment to glare at Skuldaf, one of her talons starting to dig into the dirt a little.  "If that was a joke, it's not funny.  If you want to pretend it was a cough, I'll keep walking like it never happened.  And don't call me Sabellah!  I'm getting too tired to deal with this tonight."  

 

With an angry huff the griffoness turns to go back inside, making her way back to her room muttering under her breath.  "I get the ignorance...  But having the nerve to ask for bird seed?  Bird seed?  Where does he get off!?  I'm not some cockatiel or chicken, I'm a griffon!"
