Lee smiled. "I knew you were happy...it's just that you were, well, you were crying." He walked over and sat down next to Charcoal, nuzzling her as he did so and planting a quick kiss on her cheek. "You gonna be alright? Your emotions are so mixed up right now...well, its getting to the point where it's hard to tell how you're feeling. I think it's even starting to effect me." He giggled the quickly planted a hoof over his mouth. Did I just- Naw, I didn't! I just giggled. These thought crossed his mind and he wondered what's going on in my head.

Charcoal nodded. "I think I'll be alright. I just need a bit of time to get everything sorted out inside my head." Charcoal said. She nuzzled Lee back and kissed him again, this time not breaking it for several seconds so she could make it last as long as she could.

"Well, I think they made the right decision," Sunny stated confidently as she beamed a smile straight towards Solar. His care for other ponies was very admirable, and the aura of kindness radiated of him warmly. To Sunny, he was a wonderful pony...and strong too. She admired how powerful yet gentle the stallion was, placing her hoof softly against his wing that hanged over her back.

Lee enjoyed the contact. Basked in the warmth of the love he felt flowing off of the mare next to him. He was almost sorry to break the kiss this time. He stared lovingly in to her eyes, smiling at the warmth coming from them. "Don't worry, I'll be here to help you sort it out."

Charcoal smiled and nodded. "Thank you I really appreciate it." Charcoal leaned up against him and smiled. He felt so warm, so much warmer than you would expect from a so called "parasite". "Lee... would you... would you mind terribly if I asked to see what you really look like?"

Lee looked at her a moment, his smile slowly fading as he looked away. He contemplated her request for a moment, then turned back to her. Speaking slowly, he said: "This IS I really look like. This is me now. I'm a unicorn, a night guard and now an inquisitor of the Luna branch. If you wish to see what I used to look like, I don't see why not. But remember, THIS is me now." He looked away again for a moment, then very slowly and hesitantly, got up and took a few steps away from Charcoal. "This is what I used to look like." He turned and faced her slowly. Then he let himself be enveloped in green flames, shifting in to a large, black insectoid looking being. Hard shell like plating covered his body. His usually straight horn shifted in to a point and where his usual wings would have been, two clear fragile looking some what stumpy extensions remained. His pupils disappeared in a sea of pure blue, and his fangs extended past his bottom lip so they were visible even with his mouth closed. His cutie mark disappeared and his legs became spotty and covered in holes. He looked at Charcoal a moment before closing his eyes and looking away, ashamed at his own appearance.

Charcoal smiled a bit. She walked up to Lee and turned his head to face her. "You don't need to be ashamed. You as still you no matter what you look like. And never forget that." She leaned forward and, despite the fangs poking at her a bit, kissed him.

He was surprised that she would even consider looking at him. Surprised even more at what she said to him. And when he thought the surprises were over, she kissed him. His head went feint. She still liked him? Even though he looked like...that? He felt his stubs move, his wings, or what was left of them, start to buzz. If they hadn't been clipped, he might have taken off right then. He smiled as she kissed him, and leaned in to it a little, enjoying the contact and trying to watch his fangs so that they didn't hurt her.

Charcoal wanted to hold the kiss for as long as she could. She wanted to savior this feeling and even though she was occasionally pricked by one of Lee's fangs she didn't mind. She wrapped her hooves around him to bring him closer to her. She wanted to be with him for as long as she could.

Lee felt Charcoal pulling him in closer, wrapping her hooves around him. He let himself be pulled in, the feeling of love overwhelming him. He wrapped his hooves around her as well, making sure she wouldn't let go. He'd never tasted love like this before, it urged him to go on, but the taste wasn't only coming from Charcoal, it was also coming from him. Surprised slightly, he felt love coming from him as well. This was a whole new experience, loving and being loved. He wished this moment could go on forever. Unending, a moment frozen in time.

Charcoal tried extending her wings, but the black gauze around them prevented her from doing so. So she just settled with hugging him tightly and leaning into their kiss a bit more to further deepen it. She had never experienced something this magnificent before.

Lee felt some movement coming from Charcoals back and hesitantly, very hesitantly, broke contact, but only moved his face a way, keeping his hooves around Charcoal and letting her keep her embrace around him. He smiled at her, a large pointy and some what sharp grin. "Thanksssss, that wasss amazzzing." His voice sounded more like a hiss then his usual voice. He moved his head side ways to catch a look at Charcoals back and noticed something wrapped around her wings. Curious, he turned his glance back to her. "Isss sssomething wrong with your wingsss? Are you alright?"

Charcoal nodded. "My wings are fine. If you are talking about the gauze I do this as a safety precaution. I work around many dangerous tools, and if my wings were to get caught in one of them... lets say it wouldn't be pretty. I keep them wrapped up all the time to get used to the uncomfortable feeling."

Lee nodded. He let go of Charcoal and took a few steps back. He shifted, returning back to his usual form in a flash of green flame. He rolled his neck around and looked his legs over, taking comfort in the tan colored fur covering them. "Ah, that's better." He smiled at Charcoal. "If you don't mind, I prefer to stay like this. I'm more comfortable this way."

Charcoal smiled and nodded. "Of course, do whatever you please. It doesn't matter to me what you look like. Just so long as you act the same way I can't argue with it." Charcoal said with a smile. Then she had an idea. "Say... if you wouldn't mind. Could you change into me? You don't have to if you don't want to though, I just think it would be very interesting."

Lee looked thoughtful for a moment. He seemed hesitant, but finally made up his mind. He closed his eyes, and, in a familiar wave of green flame, took on the appearance of Charcoal, minus the gauze wrapped around her wings, still wearing his vest. He looked at his back and stretched out the his/Charcoal's wings, before sighing and reaching a hoof over his head for his now none existent horn. He sighed again and sat down, pulling his wings in very tight to his body. He finally looked up at Charcoal with a sheepish look on his/her face. "I'm sorry, I should probably explain my hesitance to do this. See, ever since I lost my wings and was banished, well, I've had a problem shifting in to beings with wings. Since I don't have wings, I can't fly, even if I shift in to a being that does have wings. The feeling of flying, well, I'm sure you already know, it's unforgettable. And after flying for some sixty odd years, not being able to fly is...well, it's some what torturous. I've come very near to the point of jumping from a tower window a couple of times when I'd copied the form of some pegusus, just to feel the wind through my mane. It's, well, it's just not safe for me." He looked down, some what embarrassed at his admittance to this fact. "To put it simply, if I shift in to a being with wings, I gain a fear of heights because of the possibility of what it might do to me."

Charcoal frowns before getting up and hugging him. "I'm sorry for asking you to do thus then. I didn't know that it hurt so much to even just have the wings of a creature. But... don't worry. We can both nit be able to fly together." Charcoal said. "I... I can't fly either."

Lee looked quizzically at her. "What do you mean?" He smiled at the sound of Charcoal talking to herself. This must be an interesting experience. He turned his attention from the wings on his back and stared intently at Charcoals wings. Is that another reason for the gauze? He thought this in his head, but was wary of voicing this inquiry, as he was unsure to the emotions it would bring.

"Well... um..." Charcoal was having a bit of trouble wording what she wanted to say. "I... I have a condition. The muscles in my wings aren't... they just aren't right. I have almost no muscles in my wings. Ergo I don't have the ability to fly." Charcoal said. She could feel a few tears beginning to form.

Lee shifted back in to himself and walked back over to her, wrapping her up in another hug. "It's ok. We both know what this feels like, to lose something like this." He was very sorry that she would have to endure something like that. He knew what it was like to be born with the ability to do something, but not be able to do it. He just couldn't imagine not being able to ever do it.

"I can't loose something I never had. I was born with this condition. I've never known this feeling of the wind in my mane and the adrenalin and whatever else is associated with flying. I've never had the pleasure of experiencing it." Charcoal said with sadness in her voice.

Lee felt horrible. He had been trying to comfort Charcoal, but he was sure now he'd only made her feel worse. He put his head down, letting depression hang over him for a moment before perking up. "Well, when we're done with the mission, and are preparing to leave, meet me at the front of the ship. At the bow. When the ship takes off, spread your wings and stand at the very front. Trust me, it feels amazing. I think you'll like this." He tried to keep his tone level the whole time he said this, trying not to give away the anxiousness and nervousness he felt.

"Sunny, you have to keep that story between me and you...OK? If that ever got out, I'd be the laughing stock of Canterlot." he said as he leans his head on hers. "Sunny, you just make me feel happy all over. I hope that the story did the same for you. Now we have to worry about the mission. Moon has been in there way to long not to have come up with a plan. Come on, Let's check on those love birds...." he laughed, reluctantly releasing Sunny from his wing hug, as he began to walk over to Charcoal and Lee.

"So...How did it it go?" Solar saw the tear in Charcoal's eye, and he did not know what to say. When he was telling his story, he could see Lee's changeling form, where his wings where ripped from his body. Solar had observed and now had a pretty good idea about the last part of their conversation. He was sad to see his new friends this way as they now felt like an extended family to him, like how the Sky Guard takes care of each other. Those coins made them honorary Sky Guard members. He now just had to find a good time to give Lee his.

The story about Charcoal's wings had him thinking, however what came out of his mouth was not well though of.

Lee heard some pony approaching and turned to see Solar and Sunny. He smiled at them, momentarily forgetting about what had just happened with Charcoal, and hoping she'd perk up from his advice. He was about to try and strike up a conversation when he heard Solar ask Charcoal how much she weighed. He froze, then turned to look at Solar, eyes wide. Did he just...no, he didn't...did he? He looked between Charcoal and Solar. "Uh, Solar...uh, could you come with me for a moment?" He walked over to him, putting a hoof on his shoulder and started to steer him away from the two mares. When he thought they were out of ear shot, he turned to solar, eyes still very wide. "Ok, I'm not sure what that was, but I'll assume it was a simple slip of the mind right? You know never to ask a mare her weight...right?"

Solar fallowed Lee away from the mares. "Crap...Did I say that out loud? It's just that I had an idea." as he spread his large wings. "I can carry about 125 pounds in flight...I was thinking, I could...I don't know...give her a lift, let her spread hers and just glide thought the air for a few moments...Stupid idea....Right?"
